Hi all
Hope everyone is well. Or as well as can be Glad the move is over LouLou. Just take it easy now! Welcome newbies!

Anna, I already have a Poppy! Any more Greek/English name suggestions (boys and girls) are very welcome from everyone!

My MIL was here yesterday and I think she thought I was about to faint AGAIN. It wasn't bp for once but the awful high up pain (like a stabbing) from LO feeling like it is trying to pop out at top of my bump. Hard to explain but does anyone else have this - Eli, Jabber or any other tranny/breech girls??

Not antenatal (although we could be a "products" thread couldn't we ?) but had to let you know I have just ordered the most gorgeous doll's house from Toysrus for DD for Xmas. Half price and just fabarooney - can't wait to start playing with it!

Calmriver · 19/10/2006 08:18

Hi Guys, Well, I'm not sure...midwife said last week that the chances of baby moving position completely are very slight at this stage, considering size and room left to shift completely, but my tummy is also bulging in two places, (either side of my belly button)...kind of looks like sideways....Have an ANC appointment at the hospital, so will get them to check! Having a section, so it doesn't really matter too much, but it's uncomfortable!

How keen are you guys on reading?

Was thinking perhaps for those of us that are bored, we could start a little book club...where all we need to do is read however much we want of the same book before bed or whenever, and then we can discuss it on here...could be a real laugh!

I have decided to take Jane Green's 'Life Swap' to hospital with me! Sounds very funny!
Another great book to read if you guys are thinking of hospital is 'Confessions of a Bad Mother' The front cover is a picture of a dummy(pacifier) hanging on the edge of a wine glass! Definately gets your attention! She basically doesn't know what to do with this baby..she isn't really a BAD mother! Have a look.

Good Morning,

I would love to do the reading thing, but the mnute my head hits the pillow I am aslep. Why not read a book I've already read and I'll comment (only joking)

Scan day today - hooray!

Calmriver · 19/10/2006 11:57

Hi Vanilla- Have fun at the scan!

Scans at this stage are great fun, ask if you can see baby's face! So cute.

I've got yet another in 3 weeks time. Do you guys know that I have not had an ante-natal appointment with GP or Consultant/midwife since 24 weeks!!! First one tomorrow after quite a while...

Do your baby's get hiccups A LOT too??? Mine is getting them about 5-6 times a day! DD1 did as much.

Hullo all, welcome newbies!
CR, I'd be interested in reading group, I'm quite voracious with books at the mo'. Have read both of those before I think, what were you thinking of?
Haven't packed bag or anything like that, but did make christmas & birthday lists. In next 10 weeks, we have 15 birthdays to buy for + Xmas arrrrgggh. Of course when I say we, that will be me. Can't fault dp for general loveliness in other ways this week tho as he's been so nice about my constant dizziness & stress about work.
Speaking of which, best do something about stress at work by ....working.

Castles - Re English/Greek names what about Evania

EliBoo · 19/10/2006 15:01

Spinamum thanks, you booted me off just after I'd booted myself off - not a minute too soon!

Castles, yes...that jab high up? Definitely a head in my case. Feels like she suddenly decides to arch her neck and play turtles, and its very uncomfortable, even painful. Must be a tranny thing...

Greek/English. Hmmm. I remember a girl I knew called Aline...she was Greek, and no one had trouble pronouncing her name! dh has a few Greek friends, will pick his brain for you later.

AQ, I sympathize on the multiple birthdays before Xmas....dd's birthday is the 22nd Dec, so all her friends' are between now and then. Not to mention her cousins, aargh. I bought a load of stuff online, and now can't remember what I thought of for who - have shoved it all in large box under table and dread having to sort and pack!

Calm, are you joining the tranny club then?

castlesintheair · 19/10/2006 15:28

Thanks for the names suggestions Will pass them onto HQ DH likes Athina for a girl but I have a funny feeling it's a boy. I quite like them not to sound too Greek, for example, Poppias kalas is abbreviated to Poppy which we are familiar with in UK (and is my DD's name!).

I too love the book club idea. I've been wanting to join one for ages but where I live they all seem rather high brow, frequented by aspiring poets etc. I'm reading "72 Virgins" by Boris Johnson at the mo. Even though it's an easy romp I don't seem to be getting very far as sleep is always more appealing ...

Also have lots of December birthdays. And another one to come ... It's a PITA but we now just give pressies to children/our parents. All the siblings/aunts/uncles etc are happy with that as it means they don't have to get us anything either, except our DCs!

stokeymonkey · 19/10/2006 16:59

I'm trying to re-read Jane Eyre (loved the bbc thing so much thought I'd read it again), but after about half a page my mind starts to wander or I fall asleep. Can't seem to concentrate on anything for more than a few minutes at the moment!
Is this what they call 'baby brains'?

Love idea of an informal book club, but realistically hardly ever get reading time as it is - hmm, perhaps if I cut down on MN time

Castles, dh thought of Christos (Chris), Pannos, Costis (short for Constantine, pronounced Costi), and Andreas. But I bet your dh can think of more than that.

Lucy, any sign of that email yet? Feel bad I haven't sent you anything yet!

EliBoo · 19/10/2006 17:25

Stokey, I think its whats known as Preggo-brain...

summerlovebaby · 19/10/2006 18:15

It could be a book-cum-sleepover club

Calmriver · 19/10/2006 19:04

Okay, sounds good to me...

anyoe read 'We need to talk about Kevin'?Lionel Shriver Supposed to be good!

Any other suggestions???

Home and Away is getting so good at the moment!

VanillaMilkshake · 19/10/2006 21:21

Hi All,

Just thought I'd update you on my wonderful day....

First dropped DD off at friends and said we would leave her there while at Hospital only for her to give us both a kiss and run off playing - not bothered .

Had scan, was lovely to see bump again. Asked Sonographer if she could tell what bump is, she said yes straight away. But DH said he still wants a surprise . Other couples in the waiting room were all discussing what they were having Was told there is excess fluid - but no baby reason why, so dont worry but be prepared for a waterfall when waters go. And baby is head down, and slightly larger than average, but not huge or off chart so again dont worry. All good

Next at consultant....told him about veins and was told where support tights from now till eternity basically, and expect varicose veins .
Stop eating for two... most bloody days I barley eat for one! But am likely to have high blood sugar so get tested before leaving.
And then told that after feeling bump baby is average size and he does not belive that there is excess fluid so me and DH are really confused now.

Then he goes and reads the note about the boil on my boob - by same flippin MW who wrote high BP in notes without taking it a second time. Decides to have a look for himslef and says it looks like an absess (sp) however is surprised there was no pain when he touched it so has referred me to....wait for it.......you'll love this one.... no really you will....a sodding breast surgeon of all things! Told him there was no pain and I thought it was going down but he said he wants it checked out in case it interfers with BF. So I am back at the pigging hospital tomorrow *^@~ . It's like a web once you get in your referred from dept to dept and caught like a fly in web! Oh and after him prodding the thing started to itch anf hurt again too!

Before leaving his room I asked if it was still possible I could have HB, and he said 'not answering that question untill after my apt with him in 4 weeks'

But finally and most pleasingly when blood sugar was finally taken before we left it was 5.4, ha ha ha, and that was after half a drifter. The MW told consultant who said oh, okay then - wheres the other half of the drifter - dont joke with me now mate you've ruined my day.

Sorry to rant, but I feel a bit better now. Just feel that all my little niggles are not really 'big' problems and therefore just want to be left alone. Am only going to see my fave MW from now on (well after breast surgeon). Oh and DD failed to run in tomy arms when I got back from friends showing she had in no way at all even noticed we had gone

lucy5 · 19/10/2006 21:22

Hello all, havent had chance to read all yet.

Eli, I will set up a cat as the email is floating in cybersoace somewhere.

Congratulations on the driving test!!!!!!!!!

Hi Anna, sorry i still haven't been in contact, i've had a mad week, will explain all when we finally meet, will be in contact soon.xxxx

Finally, I bought a pram tonight, it's the first thing I have bought, yipeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

spinamum · 19/10/2006 21:31

VM, what a day!

Lucy,congrats on pram purchase.

I think if we do a book club,I WILL have to cut back on MN.

Right. I'm logging off now or I'll still be lurking after you've all gone to sleep.

Night night!

EliBoo · 19/10/2006 21:44

Wait, spinamum, I need you to send me to bed!

Oh ok then, I'll go quietly....think I might actually be in it before 10pm, and before dh: a first.

VM, so sorry you had all those hassles at hospital - apart from the breast abcess (which is probably best sorted asap, even if it doesn't hurt, and at least a BS will have some idea what he's looking at whereas I bet the OB doesn't!) it all does sound like niggles. Congrats on the blood sugar

Lucy, will look out for a CAT - bummed about my email, only have one email addy set up and its got both mine and dh's full names on it so I don't post it on public forums, or I'd just give you that! Well done on the pram...

Ok, bed, bed, bed. Well, shower, bed, bed, bed. Sleep well, all, even fellow trannies hopefully.. xxx

indiemummy · 19/10/2006 22:40

Oh Calm I want to read We Need To Talk About Kevin too! I'll read it with you! One vote in favour! Today I just got Astonishing Splashes of Colour from the library so I'll read that first. Anyone read it? Do you read Lionel Shriver in the Guardian, what do you think? (Or come to think of it maybe my brain is too mushy for proper books, maybe i should stick to Jools Oliver, hmm)

I haven't even THOUGHT about Christmas yet... Baby due 9th Dec. You're all making me feel bad. My friends and family won't be getting much this year but I am hoping they will understand!

Ok bedtime for me too now, hope everyone is well! Xx

jabberwocky · 20/10/2006 01:13

I really need to moan for a bit. Ds had another of his night terrors last night. That's two nights in a row I have been thoroughly woken up at 3:00am. Tuesday night I managed to get an hour or so in before I had to get up for work, last night - NEVER went back to sleep at all

I have been a total bitch all day, just put ds's train set and legos in permanent time-out as I am sick to death of telling him to pick them up, me tripping over them etc. And I can't tell if it's just the sleep deprivation or the fact that I was trying to go every other day on my Zoloft. I have it down to 25 mg, but still worry that the baby will have some side effects.
Just before/during my rant about the toys I burst into tears and peed on myself

At the moment I am heartily sick of being pregnant and I wish dh and ds would just take a short vacation and give me some peace and quiet!

Calmriver · 20/10/2006 07:31

It's a plan for the Kevin book then

I have woken up this morning with PINK EYE!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought DH and I were getting away with it!DD's eyes have cleared and now I'm off to the doctor today with it! GRRRRR! It's getting really itchy and I don't want to touch it!!!

OP posts:
VanillaMilkshake · 20/10/2006 08:49

Morning all, -heres to a good day.
My Milo should be arriving today - so I can finally see what you're all hooked on!

Jabber, I know exactly how you feel. I have been like that with DD a little bit, nearly everyday and afterwards I always feel so guilty. It's not that she's not deserved a bit of a ticking off, but I just go completely over the top, and shout really loudly at her then I ignnore her while she's sobbing and trying to cuddle me. I feel like total witch then and really embarrased with what I have done to her. Then we have a cuddle and a sob and I apologise for shouting - it's hit home with her as yesterday after a telling off - for not getting dressed she came up to me crying and said sorry for shouting .

I dont know what to suggest except walk away before you act. Anyway here's to a better day.

Just fed up with being PG, I want veins to go down - can't stand for long periods so ironing basket is like mount everest.
I want relationship with DD to go back to normal. And I want the hospital to leave me alone!

EliBoo · 20/10/2006 09:32

Ack, bad nights, pink eyes and veins? I have a plan: lets all go back to bed and have a day off being pregnant.......any takers?

Lack of sleep has to be the single biggest grumpy toddler/mummy/anyone factor in the world. Jabber, if your ds is waking with night terrors, and you are waking with them too, bet you're both tired...big hugs to you both. Sounds like you're doing great with the Zoloft reduction, but could do with some time off work and/or many naps!

dd is thankfully sleeping well, and usually does...and in spite of four or five trips to pee I slept better too (cough finally almost gone, yeay). BUT here's a new one for me...as usual, itchy bump, legs, head, all overish in the evening. Usually goes when I go to sleep. But last night the soles of my feet, esp the right one, were SO itchy I had to get up again and put cold water, calendula cream, anything and everything I could think of on them. Needless to say OC came into my head...two of my mates have had it...but no idea if its just dry skin/hormones? Anyone else have itchy feet, other than the 'I want to go far far away from my family/job/house move' variety?!?

If it happens again over the w/e, will definitely have to contact OB about it - rats.

lubella · 20/10/2006 11:47

I wish I could have taken today off sob I am sitting at my desk trying to look awake and like I can do work but inside I am a very drunk zombie in a coma.

I am soooo tired. This is TMI but during the night my nether reigons get really hot so with the weeing and everything it is the most uncomfortable thing in the WORLD.
I am going to purchase a peruvian baby blanket from JoJo maman bebe to cheer myself up.
