Spoke to the midwife who said it's really common in the 3rd trimester especially from 30 weeks, it's the body's way of clearing itself ready for birth. It can also be a sign of premature labour so although she doesn't think it's that I've got to look out for a few symptoms and she's recommended a couple of days rest. Luckily I'm off work for the next 4 days so just got to get through the rest of today then I can take it easy.

LondonSuperTrooper · 15/01/2015 16:33

Little I've been taking hot water, lemon & honey for my sore throat & cough. I think that it's helping me - psychologically!

Smiling good news on the temp nanny :) You must be feeling so relieved that they've got a nanny and that baby is OK :)

I had a bit of a scare early this morning. For the past 24hrs Bunny wasn't playing at the normal time and no attempts of prodding and poking got her to kick. Went to the midwife this morning who listened to the heartbeat and all is well. But she did say that if I have reduced movements then to ring the hospital labour ward.
Also, my bump is measuring 5 weeks too big Confused She asked me to mention this when I go to hospital for my GTT - hopefully they can give me a growth scan! Does this indicate that I may have gestational diabetes? Midwife took the measurement three times to make sure that she didn't make a mistake.

LittleBairn · 15/01/2015 16:41

smiling enjoy the rest and hopefully it turns out to be nothing.

London- I'm taking honey and lemon too I think my problem is I'm not taking it often enough as I need to wait till DH is around.

Bump mesurement while it can suggest GDB it might also just be a big bump.
naughty bunny giving you a scare, this baby does it sometimes flips around like flipper some days then barely moves for others.
That was the one good thing about being in hospital the twice a day heartbeat monitoring.

TinyTear · 16/01/2015 08:39

yawwwwn! i hate nightmares which mean DD ends in bed with us and then bashes us with her bunny!

Awe poor Bunny. Wink

I feel awful my cough has gone full viral I now have the full works of sore throat, headache, sore ears, cough even worse. Sad got appointment for GP in an hour. I'm terrified if I deliver soon neither DH and I are well enough to be in a neo-natal unit.

tannyLoo · 16/01/2015 08:53

Little that's really not fair on top of everything else!

I'm just knackered. I threw myself back into work yesterday and have quite a busy day today, and then I need to crash for a bit.

After the funeral, I ended up going to see the mws for a trace. Sat there blubbing about being convinced something was still going to go wrong. Feel like a bit of a plonker as everything seems fine.

Tanny I just can't seem to catch a break!

Don't worry about the midwife they have seen it all before its always worth going for a trace if your worried.

TinyTear · 16/01/2015 09:04

Tanny, remember to take it easy. work is good to distract yourself but do look after yourself

Little, ahrgh, hope you get well soon from the cold... someone should develop a magic remedy pregnant women can take!

Had a call from the local vets. My cat has been brought in after being killed by a car. Just awful.

LondonSuperTrooper · 16/01/2015 11:54

Ahh so sorry Tanny

Little I hope that you make a speedy recovery. Having said that, I've had an awful cold since the new year & I just can't shake it off!

dancestomyowntune · 16/01/2015 13:11

Hi, haven't been on for ages (about two threads I think!) But thought I'd drop in and try to catch up.

I'm 28weeks tomorrow. I've had a terrible time over the past couple of weeks with itching. I have a rash all over my arms and legs, and I can't sleep for the itching. I had blood tests for the liver thing which were clear but it's horrific.

I have a growth scan next week, and consultant appointment, and an appointment with the nephrology consultant too. Could be a busy day! I'm hoping everything is looking good cos I don't think I could cope with bad news now.

I have my pram now. It's the same as the Silver Cross Kensington, but is a Marmet made coach built pram we got from eBay. We paid £50 and it is immaculate. The woman even put in chrome polish with it! I will get a little stroller too but I am in love with the pram. I can't wait to have the baby to put in it!

TinyTear · 16/01/2015 13:18

Hi dances
I am 28 w tomorrow.

and like you have a busy time next week - GTT, growth scan, thyroid consultant, diabetes consultant, normal consultant...

it is good the liver tests are clear...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 16/01/2015 13:26

Hi dances your pram sounds lovely and a real bargain.

I've got a midwife appointment on Wednesday and then I think it's weekly appointments from then on and my next scan is on the 26th February.

I had my whooping cough injection this morning and have just washed some of the babies clothes so I can pack his hospital bag, now I'm sat with my feet up and don't think it will be long before I fall asleep, I'm so tired Confused

dancestomyowntune · 16/01/2015 14:29

I'm waiting to see what the hospital say on Wednesday. Previously they have told me baby is likely to be born any time from 34 weeks depending on growth/my blood pressure and kidney function. I have yet to buy the majority of stuff for hospital bag but think it might be worth making it a priority at the end of this month.

Keep being told I'm tiny/bump is tiny. Not helpful when I'm already worrying about her growth! I don't have big babies anyway (this is number 5), but even the midwife told me off at my last appointment because I am apparently losing weight! (Not sure where from!)

LittleBairn · 16/01/2015 17:41

dances have you tried coconut oil for the itching/moisture? It won't take away the rash but it might offer relief.
Coconut oil changed my life, seriously it did it healed me of serious eczema after years and years of itching and bleeding hands.

Great bargain on the pram I love a good ebay find. We will buy a bugaboo cam 2nd hand once baby is ready to come home.

Its just antidotal but my mum was told I would be very small 3pounds max and need special care I was almost 6 pounds and perfectly fine.
She had a very very serious case of hypermisser, hospitalised for 2/3 month due to being 6.5 stone at 6 months pregnant and hadn't kept a meal down for most of her pregnancy.

I'm feeling a bit better after a dreadful morning amd afternoon. GP was lovely and we agreed best to be cautious and take a course of anti biotics incase it developes into anything else. But other than warm honey drinks and paracetamol all I can do is wait it out.
But stitch seems to be holding!

Tiny I hope all your appointments go well.

dancestomyowntune · 16/01/2015 20:51

I haven't tried coconut oil. I am bathing in dead sea magic salts which helps a bit, and using aveeno cream. Will definitely get some coconut oil though. I'm willing to try ANYTHING at this stage!

My mum was told to have me aborted on medical grounds because she had a virus related to chicken pox and I would be severely disabled, if I survived. I'm fine! And always have been.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 16/01/2015 20:55

Hopefully the anti-biotics will kick in soon little

I've just bought a 3 wheeled buggy from eBay for the stables. It's going to be much easier to have a separate one that lives there otherwise my pram system will get ruined and ill be forever cleaning it. It comes with a cosy toes and raincover for £28.01 and looks like new.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 16/01/2015 20:57

Oh and I second the coconut oil, it's the only thing that keeps my eczema under control.

Shetland · 16/01/2015 23:01

I did that smiling I got a fastfold off eBay just for horses and dogs - didn't look like new though! T'was a good but though. until it fell apart

LIG1979 · 17/01/2015 06:56

Cat - you are welcome but the idea of another thread for people at a similar stage is a nice idea. I only had my mc thread for my pregnancy with dd and by the time I felt I could start to possibly join the antenatal thread it was already established. Also a couple on my mc thread saw this thread and said it was a great idea and they wish they had had it.

Dances- in hindsight small bumps are great as long as nothing is wrong. I had one with dd and a growth scan showed her to be very average but held in well. I found that pregnancy didn't slow me down as I didn't have a big bump to manoeuvre. This time at 27 weeks am already finding it gets in the way!! I dread to think what will happen at 40 weeks. I did however spend a lot of time worrying about it at the time.

Little -hope you feel better soon. That is the last thing you need and such bad luck when being on bed rest.

Tanny - hope you are ok. You have had a bit of a crap week. Thinking of you.

Babiecakes - hope your funeral went well and you are settled into your bed. I do sort of wonder how bed rest works as I find I get uncomfortable in bed for too long and would prefer to get up and walk around.

Smiling - how is the mil being?

My baby preparation hasn't started yet but have started preparing dd. After potty training we have also taken down the side of the cot with the intention of moving her into her own bed before ds needs it. She has done really well and it has been fairly pain free. Yesterday was a perfectly behaved day - she even let me sit down and have a cup of tea and watch TV whilst she happily looked after her babies. Hoping it is a trend but suspect it was a one off.
