Great idea, very spacious airy bedroom, own bathroom with shower, lounge with kitchenette, own garden with log cabin which could double as bedroom/lounge/playroom. Good schools, shops, parks all in walking distance.

Are you tempted Wink

TinyTear · 12/01/2015 11:22

Looking at the stairs up to my top floor flat with no lift... yes Grin
I would just needd a couple extra bedrooms, can you magic them up?

Good luck babiecakes I hope it goes well and do keep us posted. Will you make it to the funeral do you think?

London if you do have a 3D scan do it as quickly as you can. We were going to have one with dd but ended up having a growth scan at 30 weeks and she was head down so they couldn't see her face so we abandoned the private scan (3 days later) as wasn't worth the money. I would quite like one this time as I am a medical imaging geek but at the moment with the extension, we cannot really justify it.

Tiny I wanted to try and hire smiling if I could afford her. She sounds like an amazing nanny/house manager. You dd is good at drawing. We are still at the scribble all over the page stage although she does like sticking wobbly eyes onto paper.

smiling your employer sounds tough and it does sound like you would be better off finishing as early as you can. Whilst I do understand their reasoning (as our cleaner has had a bad back and so I am paying the same for her to do less work), I would think the fact you have been with them for so long and intend to return should make them think about how they can help you whilst you are pregnant. Your MIL also sounds very unreasonable.

toucan how long is dh planning on keeping it quiet for? (Although I don't actively tell anyone I am pregnant, I let other people tell people and bring it up if relevant.) I think the age thing is funny, I live in an area where 30s is quite normal for 1st DCs and I know quite a few men in their late 40's/ early50's who have dcs at a similar age to dd. That said I also have a friend who is 26 and she said that often she is made to feel like a teen mum for being so young and having a child in our area.

Working from home today which is lovely. Have got lots done and not felt too pressured. In the office, everyone always seems to want to ask me things so I never get any time to do my own work.

TinyTear · 12/01/2015 11:43

lig I work from home one day a week, and it's a bit mood dependant. I can be extra productive or I can just procrastinate a lot...

I personally am not a fan of 3D scans, but I have seen some great ones.

tiny I reckon if you used the log cabin as a lounge, it's got electricity already and is lovely and warm and cosy, we can put a covered walkway up for you, you can split the current lounge into a bedroom and separate kitchen and the bedroom is big enough to split to make 2 large single bedrooms, we can make it work Grin ill even through on use of the conservatory which will be a sort of playroom for your girls and my little monkey to play in together!

lig I wouldn't mind if I was doing less but I'm not, I'm just not doing the extra things that aren't part of my job although I have spent the last 2 hours scrubbing the kitchen and both the fridges so I don't think they are getting a raw deal. They are interviewing a temp nanny this evening so fingers crossed she works out as that means I will finish on the 6th and since she will do a handover with me I can also have a week before where I'm more supervising than being hands on.

I'm flattered you all want to hire me, I must be pretty good all my positions have been long term (4 years plus) and I still see all my ex charges plus regularly babysit the eldest ones baby (that makes me feel so old) I think my bosses have just buried their heads in the sand and panicked when they realised they had a short amount of time to find a replacement, my boss has just made me lunch and seems much more relaxed now she has a potential candidate so hopefully If she gets the position my last few weeks will be much easier.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 12/01/2015 12:40

toucan I am 31 and DP is 43, it's perfectly normal around here.

Shetland · 12/01/2015 12:53

I'm in Kent smiling so perhaps I'll poach you from tiny ;)

Hope all is well babiecakes

Struggling to understand your DH's logic toucan tbh. His friends will know he's having a baby when it arrives so why not just tell them now? Or is planning on hiding it forever?! Older parents aren't exactly unusual these days.

I feel enormous! Very jealous of those who can still hide their bumps - no chance of that here.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 12/01/2015 13:28

Where are you shetland? I'm in medway.

I think we should all organise a summer meet up with our little onesGrin

Sorry to hear you have had such a worrying time babies, it sounds like the last thing you need. Rest up and let yourself be looked after.

Smiling, it sounds like your employers kinda have their heads in the sand a little, I did a small amount of hoovering and sorting of baby clothes we have been given yesterday and was in agony for the rest of the day, my back wouldn't hold up for a whole days worth of tidying/sorting. I barely manage to get through a day of doing peoples hair. Take it easy if you have to, surely they understand?

I have my glucose test at the mw tomorrow, looking forward to hearing his heartbeat again and must remember to ask for my matb1 form as I really need to apply for Stat Mat Allowance, being self employed I have to do it all myself :-(

hope everyones had a good monday, the weather has been pants here all day and I am really tired again so I have been dreaming of my bed all day.

Really close to me then shetland Grin

LIG1979 · 12/01/2015 21:22

Glad you are home Babiecakes. Hopefully the rest will help keep what is left of your waters and the steroids have a chance to work. Every day will give the little one a better chance and even at 29 weeks the chance of survival is pretty good these days. Glad they took you seriously and checked you over.

TinyTear · 13/01/2015 08:30

Babiecakes sorry this is happening to you Sad but I promise you baby will be fine! As you don't have imminently threatened labour, and you've had / are having the steroid injections (btw the 2nd one didn't hurt as much, I found), baby should do really well. When DS was born, there was a lady on antenatal with me whose waters went at 23 weeks - she was discharged and hung on until about 27 or 28 weeks before baby was born, and her daughter is doing great.

I see people have already recommended Bliss. Also have a look at Tommys who have also recently launched an app with information about premature birth.
If you are back at the hospital again soon, ask for a tour of NICU/SCBU so you can see where baby will be looked after.

My prem birth (at 31+5, although I was also in hospital from 29 weeks) was much like any other birth - spontaneous labour (not induced), and progressed reasonably normally... Although my contractions never came that close together (despite dilating fully), so my pushing was less effective (also smaller babies can be more difficult to push, I believe). I had a forceps delivery. DS was placed on my chest for a few mins (he was wailing his head off heartily) then taken to the Resucitaire to be checked over by the Paeds, then taken down to NICU (DH went with him). Because of the steroid injections, his lungs were in great shape - he only needed breathing support (C-Pap) for the first 12 hours, then he was breathing on his own.
That's just my experience of course, but if I can answer any other questions for you, please ask.

Most of all, please get lots of rest Thanks

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 13/01/2015 09:24

babiecakes I was also going to recommend tommys as a good website to look at.

My cousin was a prem baby, born at 31 weeks, my aunt had been in hospital from 28 weeks when her waters started to leak. she was in nicu for a week, shes now 19 and training to be a teacher.

I hope the hospital and your DH are taking good care of you.

LondonSuperTrooper · 13/01/2015 09:50

Best of luck Babie. I hope that you are resting and being waited on hand and foot by your DH Wink

I hope that your second steroids injection goes well.
