Tori, try Bricklink if your nieces are after specific LEGO minifigures or pieces of LEGO, eg Olivia in a pink skirt or a bicycle or hedgehog or hairbrush piece, or even 30x pink blocks. It's a great place for LEGO fans, I've been known to spend many hours on that site.

Chookford · 01/12/2014 20:40

Emem congrats on the scan news!

tori yes, Lego is ridiculous... Unfortunately most kids love it! My nephew is addicted to it so costs a fortune at birthdays and Christmas...

5ChildrenAndIt · 01/12/2014 20:49

Whoa - I look away for a minute and you guys are 200 messages into a new thread! Wow!

Tranquilitybaby · 01/12/2014 20:58

Aargh typed a long message and it's gone! Aargh off to start again

Tranquilitybaby · 01/12/2014 21:01

Even great scan pic!

Good luck Iwant x

Right help, out with the school Mum's Saturday for a big Christmas, meal and party after. My friend who's organising has suggested we all take a few mini spirits in our bags as the drink is extortionate and had declared we all take drink to have on the mini bus!

How am I going to deal with this one?! Really don't want to tell them yet as only 10+6 and need to tell family first once harmony results are in. Nightmare Confused

Tranquilitybaby · 01/12/2014 21:05

Emem not even!

Thelovecats · 01/12/2014 21:06

Empty a few mini spirits bottles (eg vodka) into another one at home, and refill with water?

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 01/12/2014 21:07

tranquility fill your miniatures with either lemonade or still water (if still water you can pretend it's vodka), or you say you aren't drinking as you have an early start on Sunday morning. Luckily for me I am not a huge drinker, last time I had a drink was Christmas Day last year, so everyone I know is used to me drinking soft drinks lol. I have had issues with turning down theme parks as all my friends know I love rollercoasters.

Teeste · 01/12/2014 21:52

Hello all, I hope this is the right place to jump in! My EDD is 18 June 2015, so I'm 11+5 today, we had the dating scan last Friday. This is my second pregnancy, but my first ended in m/c at 7 weeks in April. Although I never posted back then, I wouldn't have got through it all without the amazing women and resources here. So I thought I better come and introduce myself properly - hi! Smile

AnythingNotEverything · 01/12/2014 21:55

Hi and welcome Tees! So pleased you've had your scan. Must be a relief after a mc. I think I'm just behind you but won't have an accurate due date until my scan next weds.

BingoBonkers · 01/12/2014 21:58

Tranq what about saying you had a really heavy night out the night before and you've been so ill in the night that you can't stomach another drink this century.

Kyz · 01/12/2014 22:05

Evening all - eek 9 pages to catch up on!! Thanks jazzy for the new thread :) Weekends are always busy for me so i'm not usually about this thread moves so quickly! I'm 14+4 today :) I feel fine, other than being really tired!

Congrats on scans and welcome to newbies :D

I shall do my catching up now, i've briefly zoomed through and see you've all been chatting about slings and allsorts! I'm thinking of a caboo or an ergo, but I don't know which yet. I'm not buying anything until after xmas though at the earliest, I do think I might make a list though and get on with looking about at things. I'm not sure what i'm doing about a pushchair, DS has a nipper 360, but I don't know if he'll still need it, currently he does, so I don't know whether to buy a carry cot for that and use that, or buy something else completely. It's quite wide but a very good pushchair all in all. I don't want two of them though! I don't know if it's worth getting a double or go for slinging the baby, ds in pushchair for long trips then baby in pushchair, ds walking other times. Det our age gaps are similar, what are you doing i bet you've already said and i've missed it!

Age gap wise, there'll be a 2 and a half year gap between DS and this one. As well as not knowing what to do with the pushchair I don't know what to do about the bed/cot situation. DS is in a cot bed, it's still as a cot atm. I don't know whether to buy him a bed and put the new LO in the cot when the time comes or convert the cot into a bed for DS and get another cot for this LO. Argh. Feels like lots of decisions! DS is quite tall/long though so I suspect getting him a single bed would work best for us. For now though he's staying behind bars! He's very good in his cot, and generally a very good sleeper unless ill or teething so I'd like to keep it that way!

re: the second being more difficult, I have always been told this, and both my DP's younger sister and my oldest younger sister (if that makes sense) were difficult babies! My MIL says if SIL came first DP wouldn't be about, LOL! DS has always been totally fab with his sleeping, he's had a few patches like the 4 month growth spurt/recession thing, but his issues tend to last a few days to a week, and generally he's really, really good. At just over 2 he still sleeps 12-14 hours at night (15 if i'm exceptionally lucky) and 2 hours in the day. He has been waking up last week in the night and early from his nap but he's cut his last canine and now has a cold. Anyway I waffle. I am basically petrified this one won't sleep. I've always said I can deal with DS if he's ever being difficult, because he sleeps. Well what if this one won't? I am not someone who copes well on small amounts of sleep, DS was sleeping through all night from 7/8 weeks, I have been incredibly lucky with him I feel. Also, I lived at home when DS was small, so I had alot of support particularly from my mum. I'm quite worried I can't do it by myself. Nights i'll be on my own as DP works nights. I'll be ok, won't I? . I'm a natural born worrier, sorry all!

I don't think I have a bump, I just feel fat. Mum reckons I do though and I can't do my jeans up anymore, I can't even pretend I can, it just isn't happening

lovely scan pic emem!

tees welcome and congrats, there are a few of us on here pregnant again after a mc or mmc so we do understand how you feel!

tranquility I agree, fill up the mini's with lemonade or water and then just bring a mixer so it appears you are boozing!

BingoBonkers · 01/12/2014 22:35

My POV and my own experience is that a sling and a toddler in a pushchair works well initially but sometimes you just want to have somewhere to put them down when you are out and about eg meal times or need to nappy change the older one eg if they are under 3. It is doable with a young baby and a sling but as they get bigger and heavier it can get uncomfortable. Or if you are stopping for a coffee and the baby isn't of an age where s/he can sit up unaided in a high chair and you want to pop them down. Don't get me wrong I love love love my Close!!!! It will get plenty of use again.

jazzyjenbo · 01/12/2014 22:40

Kyz - re bed change... I moved my ds from his cot straight into a full single at approx 16 mths... Made a fuss of making a big boy room for him, buying nice bedding etc... We put a bed guard on one side and the other side against a wall. - gate on bedroom so he couldnt escape. It didnt take that long for him to get the idea and he never went into his old room thinking it was his. Tbh i dont really see the point of buying a 'toddler size' bed. If u need to change them because u need your existing cotbed move them upto a single, dd is in the cotbed (took sides of at 17 mths) now but will b moving to a single once we find out sex in jan.

Evening all... Haven't read all the posts I'm afraid as it's been a busy day and I'm ready to crash!

Just to say for those not on fb that my scan went really well, they had updated the equipment since dd and it was so clear, couldn't believe it. We saw one particularly cute shot of baby raising its hand to suck its thumb, all the digits were perfectly outlined. It's like it's got a whole secret life in there Wink Moved forwards 4 days to 13 weeks today, so new EDD is 8.6.15.

Was also collared for a flu jab while I was there so really hoping I don't react to it like last time.... Dd had hers today too so we could be a sorry bunch tomorrow!

Tranquilitybaby · 02/12/2014 07:44

Thanks girls, I'm just worried they're going to see straight through my excuses lol! Aargh. Hate lying to them but needs must hey.

Aww psa the scan sounds wonderful, so clear. Urgh to the flu jab though, they won't collar me that's for sure! X

Teeste · 02/12/2014 08:35

Thanks for the welcome!

Anything got my fingers crossed for your scan! Mine actually put me back a couple of weeks, the joys of PCOS, eh?

Chookford thanks, it's been absolutely petrifying this time around, but all seems to be going well. I had a small but significant bleed a few weeks ago, panicked and booked a private scan - but it showed a bean with a heartbeat and no signs of anything in the placenta/sac. Dunno what the bleed was but as long as t'littlun is OK, I'm not too bothered!

There seem to be a lot of experienced mums on this thread, what amazing company I'm in!

ChatEnOeuf · 02/12/2014 09:38

Wow, so much to catch up on! I'm 11w today, one week until scan - ramping up the anxiety, even though I've had a look at the bean at 8w already. Still feeling hellish - had a couple of days where the nausea was bearable, but this morning back to square one again. Tired, ratty and constantly thirsty, but drinking makes me feel sick. Fun times!

Re: age gaps, DD will be 3.9 when this one comes along. Hopefully old enough to help and not play up mercilessly. Hopefully.

Re: slings - I have a stretchy from VSL and a Mei tai from Daisy Baby. DH used the Beco Gemini as he never got to grips with wrapping. I may be getting a ring sling too this time around if DH doesn't find out. Tori I can add you to the Notts or Derby local slingmeet groups on FB if you like. Don't know about them closer to your neck of the woods.

Re: the second being more difficult. I really fucking hope not. There's a very good reason I'm so into baby carrying and co-sleeping. I really do love it but that love was borne out of necessity! DD was hard work, really until she could sit up. And she has only gone to sleep well for the last three months. And still sleeps in my bed at least a couple of nights a week.

Re: beds, DD launched herself out of her cot at 14m, so we took the sides off then. She's been in a big bed for the last two months and loves it.

Welcome, tee and congratulations. I know all about scan worries after two MC this year.

Bellejessleo · 02/12/2014 12:01

Yay, I finally have a scan date after much chasing up yesterday! Friday 12th, it can't come soon enough! Has cheered me up a bit Smile
My first baby was very difficult, colic, reflux, tongue tie...he's lovely now though at 5 years old. My second was a breeze, slept through the night, fed easily, hardly cried...so I had it the other way round. I just wonder what this little one has in store for us!! If it's anything like my first born I know I will be baby wearing constantly for at least 6 months...what will be will be!
