The Nigel Farage stuff made me think of this looking forward to spending my summer ruining people's days!

mummymog · 07/12/2014 11:07

Ive caught hand foot and mouth from dd. Im like a big pregnant pathetic toddler :(

Chookford · 07/12/2014 11:26

mummy sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon!

Osney · 07/12/2014 11:28

Hello all,

Good luck with scans this week! I'll have a proper read and catch up later today.

Just thought I'd send an update - I'm leaving hospital today, can't wait to go home. Apparently baby is fine, despite me having me drugged off my face on morphine since Wednesday night. Who knew fibroids could be so annoying? This is probably tmi, but my biggest problem is morphine causes constipation and they've tried enemas, and two oral drugs but nothing shifting it yet - so I have nausea that feels akin to awful ms and want to throw up.

Still, recovery will feel like a treat as best mate 1 coming from london to cook DH and I roast chicken tonight, best friend 2 driving down from Manchester on Monday to cook me dinner and best friend 3 staying Tuesday - Friday! And folks are visiting too. So I'm actually looking forward to a week at home!

Osney you really have been through it. Hugs for you. Glad you have got great friends around you. Just let them spoil you.

Chookford · 07/12/2014 11:51

osney glad to hear you are on the mend. Will be lovely to have your friends come down and spoil you for the rest of the week!

Sunbathing, if you're hoping to BF TheEomanly Art of Breastfeeding is great. A bit "American hippy" in places, but really useful. I've leant my copy to lots of people since DD was born.

Mummymog so sorry about the HF&M. I hear it can make you pretty miserable. Can it harm the baby at all?

Osney so glad you're coming home! No advice on the constipation though. Fingers crossed you find something that works soon.

Scan day on Wednesday. So excited and nervous too.

AnythingNotEverything · 07/12/2014 13:33

Sorry, "The Womanly Art Of Breastfeeding".

Tranq I have my NHS scan this week. Not sure whether to fess up about the private. If it's conflicting results I may just freak the hell out. If I tell them they will only date me and not do the nuchal. However I would like to know if any changes in the nasal bone eg if there is one now. My teeth are really bad again. Back on more ABs. Not keen but got no choice. This time next week will know the Harmony result and I'm doing everything I can in the meantime to keep thinking it will be good results and I've been worrying over nothing. Some days I hardly give it too much thought and on other days I can't get it out of my head.

I mentioned my early scan at the NHS one but only because the early scan advised me to mention I'd had a cyst and tell them the size so they could see if it had gone or shrunk. It was still there, 1mm smaller!

Where to start with books?! DD has such a variety. Her favourite at the moment is Brown Bear, Brown Bear. I think it's aimed at older kids as it has a teacher in it but she's obsessed with it. Other favourites are Dear Zoo, Where's Spot, all the Elmer board books (I found the box set in TK Maxx), a Baby Touch box set of books (each one about words, numbers, colours etc). Favourite bedtime books at the moment are Goodnight Moon and The Big Night Night Book but she has loads; she has a different one before her bath every day and then a special one that we read every day just before she goes to sleep. She's got a few Christmassy ones and the favourite so far is Stick Man.

I have my first appointment with my consultant tomorrow, due to my treatment for CIN III last year. Does anyone have any experience of this and know what it will involve. The midwife said that in some cases it's possible that the cervix could have been shortened so they may need to measure it to check. How do they do this?

Thelovecats · 07/12/2014 20:18

By scanning as far as I'm aware. Friends who have had incompetent cervix in previous pregnancies were scanned for them to take measurements anyway.

ots · 07/12/2014 20:21

Thanks lovecats :)

purplebiro · 07/12/2014 20:22

Sorry being lazy and copying this over from the main pregnancy board - loooooooooong day, am knackered:

Is 14+3 too early to feel movement? I feel slight flutterings that I don't think are gas.

Also, round ligament pain is AGONY - just sneezed and shouted out loud - is there anything I can do to lessen it (other than just bracing myself)?

Tryingreallyhard84 · 07/12/2014 20:24

Osney - glad you're on the mend. Sounds like a nice week planned.

I've got my scan Tuesday. Excited, nervous, shit scared all at once.

Nausea has dropped slightly today. Although hubs asked for me to make a stew. Smelling that in the slow cooker all day has been evil.

ots · 07/12/2014 20:29

Purple, I'm 14+1 and been feeling baby for a week or so. This is DC2. Have you got any other DCs? Sorry I don't have stats handy!

Yes! I forgot about the evil sneeze pain. Feels like your uterus is trying to jump out through your stomach. Ouch.

purplebiro · 07/12/2014 20:44

No - first baby, and I'm overweight so I'm quite surprised (although VERY pleased) by this! I have had IBS issues for most of my life so maybe that's just made me better at distinguishing different stomach sensations.

ememsmum · 07/12/2014 20:44

Sunbathing Hairy Maclary (or Hairy Cary) is a favourite in this house. I grew up with him and sadly could almost remember the first of the books off by heart when I first reasd it to DD!
