tranquility have a great night out!

tori you are indeed a good wife! Make sure he appreciates it!

I've got my husband a new iPad for Xmas having sold our old one and just putting in the difference so it was a pretty good deal. As he is an apple geek sure he will love it, he had better...

I'm having def movements every day now some are very kick like so really hoping by Xmas I will maybe be able to share the kicks with my dd as she is desperate to feel baby!

Oh and detective that outfit is just adorable! Wink

tori DP could count on one hand the number of books he'd read before we had DD Shock I never had my head out a book as a child and can get through a stack on holiday when I get the chance. He now absolutely adores doing DD's bedtime story(s!) when he's home and can recite the majority of Julia Donaldson books by heart now Smile

cuphat · 06/12/2014 19:20

DD had her first book read to her while she was in hospital, less than a day old! We've read to her every day and now, at 18 months, she absolutely loves books - she's constantly bringing them to us for us to read to her, or pulling books off her bookshelf and sitting down 'reading' them herself for ages. I'm really pleased as I love books, and have done from an early age. We have a ridiculous amount of children's books; far more than the local (small) library! I can't stop buying them, we have loads in every room. She's already learnt a lot from them too.

Evening lovely ladies.

Had a lovely night with friends last night and two stayed over. I ended up telling them as they had spied my Christmas food list where I had put "OH is a lucky bastard " after everything I'm not supposed to eat, they invariably asked me why. Cue much gushing.

Glad some people are starting to feel better! Sorry to those still battling the o ongoing cough that seems to be do I g the rounds.

Glad others have partners who don't read. My husband started a book on our honeymoon; he's still "reading" it. I love a good book and hope to get both oh and future child involved in reading. I loved ny parents reading to me and I intend to do the same. X

cuphat · 06/12/2014 19:33

I used to have loads too but got rid of literally hundreds earlier this year, after I got a Kindle. I've kept a couple of shelves with my very favourites but I'm considering getting rid of those and rebuying them on Kindle (going against everything I ever said before I got one; I actually prefer reading on the Kindle now!).

DD had a bookcase full of books in her nursery before she was even born! And she has shelves and baskets full elsewhere too. At least DC2 will get to enjoy them too.

I couldn't live without my kindle, I too put off getting one for ages as I love books, the smell and feel so thought I wouldnt get on with a Kindle but I love it now I read every night after my dd is in bed... I fully intend to do more reading when I'm on Mat leave, my dh doesn't read either he doesn't have the patience! Luckily my dd takes after me she loves to read!

sun think the rage is mainly contained to the working week, I know mine is... Most people at work get on my nerves at moment who never do normally! Blush

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 06/12/2014 21:50

I love Shirley Hughes too alis Smile One of my life's high points was when she answered my question on a mn webchat thing! You've just reminded me that I bought Lucy and Tom's Christmas for dd for a steal on amazon. Must dig it out! I need to get in the loft too because I can't remember if I bought Alfie's Christmas for her last year!

With my primary school teacher hat on, I can't stress enough how important reading to your children is! Enjoying books (even the crappy boring picture books) while they are tiny is such a good start, and reading decent quality stuff with enriching language when they are a bit bigger makes such a difference to their language skills and to their writing. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to spot with a class of 6 year olds which ones have regular bedtime stories.

Anyone got a ladder? It's quite high up on this soapbox!

mummymog · 06/12/2014 22:19

I know so many suess books off by heart now...

Pas- dont get me started on importance of early years to Education - my bumps too Big to fit on your box too :) (former secondary t Teacher)

The local Head here is in the ' please don't teach your kids to write before they start' camp. I'm tempted to teacg 1 twin to write and the other not, and see which does better in School. Can't wait for parents nights with her- I'm going to go all AiFL on her ass ( education thingy to do with testing / not over testing children)

Tryingreallyhard84 · 06/12/2014 22:33

My nausea had returned big style tonight. Sad I don't even want to do anything except go to sleep.

mummymog · 06/12/2014 22:40

Oh no trying - salt and vinegar crisps?

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 06/12/2014 22:47

I don't see the point in "pushing" them to read/write before they start school if they're not ready (and let's face it, a lot of them aren't ready even when they do start). But if they're interested, then why hold back?! My dd had recognised that letters are different from numbers (when written) since before she was 1. We were somewhat taken aback by that! She's definitely interested in cracking this crazy adult code we have. I like your twin experiment Wink You could have a lot of fun with many many experiments...

In other news: I have just brushed my left tit. I was brushing my hair but the brush leapt over a tangle and brushed my nipple instead. Ooooowwwwww!!!!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 06/12/2014 22:48

Not before she was 1, before she was 2. I'm not that crazily pfb about her achievements!

StopEatingThatMud · 06/12/2014 23:03

I've just realised... TMI coming up... I have leaky boobs. WTF, I'm only 15 weeks!

Happily laid in the bath, glanced over at my bra I'd flung on the floor and noticed patches just about where my nipples would go.

This pregnancy business is so glam!

Chookford · 06/12/2014 23:04

trying sorry to hear your feeling rough again! Hopefully it will pass again soon

pas I did that the other day too! It really hurts doesn't it!

jazzyjenbo · 07/12/2014 00:16

Stop - i'm sure i mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I was expecting 'wet nips' any day as i got them early with dd. I'm 15 weeks now and am on bra watch!
When i had my mmc in Jan at 10weeks i had full on milk production for 3 weeks!

cuphat · 07/12/2014 08:05

I bf DD for 17 months and never once had leaky boobs so I hope I escape this time too. Being organised, I'd bought a box of nipple pads and I didn't use one! I never had the let down feeling that other people experience either.

DD can recognise some numbers too. Also, when we count to ten she can say some of the numbers (two, three, four, six, eight, ten) in the right place (when she wants to!). We've not taught her as such - I believe in letting children be children - but we've just always counted the buttons on her sleepsuits when doing them up from when she was a baby. They take everything in!

cuphat · 07/12/2014 08:08

Tori, I must look at kindle unlimited! I had lots of time for reading when DD was a baby; I spent so much time either bf her or with her sleeping on me during the day! However, I wasn't always in the frame of mind for reading books so spent a lot of time on my ipad too.

ots · 07/12/2014 08:40

My nipples have felt a bit wet when I've woken up last few mornings. I didn't get this with DS til right near the end

Tranquilitybaby · 07/12/2014 09:24

Morning

Had a really nice night last, not sure if they totally believed the UTI story, my ears should probably be burning this morning!

Onto next week, two scans and harmony results, oh gender reveal!

Anyone else got a scan next week?

sparkle17 · 07/12/2014 10:00

Good luck with your scans next week tranquillity whats your gender guess at the mo.

I intend to read every day to the baby. I think it is so important. Cant wait to buy some books that i loved when i was younger.

I had the rage with dh last night. We were at my best mates 30th. I was fake drinking which i probably managed to get away with. He on the other hand was quite drunk. He really is not that funny and he finds it hard to communicate normally when drunk. This is what i have found over the past few weeks. God its crap being sober all the time. 28 more weeks to go......
