I'm a breastfeeding peer support in highlands - I'm sure lots of areas have the same.

14 month old dd suddenly had an awful throat tonight, she wouldn't even eat her yoghurt! She keeps waking up coughing, so she's in bed with me pinning me down. I'm. Going to be tired and achy tomorrow. :(

In Good news though, I went live with my Facebook page selling personalised papercut art tonight. Hoping to earn money for the two new car seats were going to need. Dd is tiny and still in her baby seat. Got 7 likes so Far - not exactly reaching the masses, so the twins might be in papermache car seats. Oh well - I can dream :)

Emz- I really liked mamafeelsgood as a brand of nursing clothing - they just look like funky t-shirts, lots of Mat clothes are also feeding clothes, but there come s a point when I got bored of maternity clothes and wanted to look 'cool' again

HexyQueen · 06/12/2014 04:32

Getting the right top for you to feel comfortable breast feeding is essential. DP reminded me I used an fabulously patterned 1970s napkin as a "discretion" cloth to bf. just pinned it on my shoulder, was just big enough to cover baby while I was getting the hang of it (if feeding in lower cut top pulled down) & wasn't enormous like some of the specially bought bf tents that I felt were more suitable as tablecloths than to make u feel discreet. I also used those bands u get to cover your bump in later pregnancy so tummy wasn't on show when bf'ing under the t shirt style. Bf is the best feeling once u get the hang of it.

As you may guess by the time stamp I can't sleep... DD projectile vomited over herself & the bathroom, bathed her & tidied up & put wash on but can't get back to sleep now.. Bah.

Haven't posted much last few days as have been so busy sorting stuff for our move just after Christmas. Can't wait to just settle in now :)

I have been lurking though, so glad all of this weeks scans went well.
Love that little outfit Detective. Might get the same as have been looking for a rainbow outfit as this is our 'rainbow baby' :)

Re breast feeding talk, last time I hated breastfeeding in public and used to do it in public toilets :( I only breastfed up to about 3 months and I think it was largely to do with this. This time I feel much more confident though, going to invest in some practical clothing options and going to hold my head high and feel proud.

14 weeks today and baby is apparently the size of a nectarine Smile

Phryn · 06/12/2014 07:41

Will catch up later but am delighted to say my husband now agrees with me that we should find out boy or girl at our 20 week scan! He was initally unsure but has changed his mind Grin

Phryn · 06/12/2014 07:42

Just wish we could afford a private scan at 16 weeks now but with Christmas and the amount of decorating we've been doing recently it's not really going to happen Sad

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/12/2014 08:44

Yay, Phryn!

How much are private scans? Not that I'll be having one at 16 weeks, we've had some unusual costs in the last month

Ours is costing £79 and includes lots of photos. Last time we got a DVD for £10 (cheaper because they were late!) which included some 3D footage. It has been lovely to look back on so we'll get the DVD again.

It was a lovely experience; it wasn't just about finding out the gender as they focused in on other parts we were interested in (ie feet!), showed us the chambers of the heart and confirmed they looked normal and informed me about the position of my placenta etc. It was well worth the money.

Yes, Sunbathing.

TheDetective · 06/12/2014 12:03

Mine is £45 and ill be booking it as soon as I've had my 12 week scan on Wednesday :)

BingoBonkers · 06/12/2014 12:04

I also used to tuck a Muslin under my bra strap and then spread the excess over chest whilst learning the art of removing boob one handed and the shoving the baby under the Muslin and onto boob. Muslims don't make the baby too hot but the only downside is you can't see what you're doing unlike the ones that go round you like a bib with an arch that give you a view of what's going on. Horses for courses really!

BingoBonkers · 06/12/2014 12:05

Arses one autocorrect I didn't spot! MUSLINS!!!!!

StopEatingThatMud · 06/12/2014 12:41

hexy I had a squirmy DD in my bed last night again thanks to her cough and high temp. Blinking knackered today after two nights of it, meaning yet another headache and DP has Judy left for work until 10pm. Sigh. Hope you got some more sleep.

phryn DP suggested a 16 week scan as a Christmas pressie but I'm so annoyed at him putting another £2k on his credit card after clearing it last year I've told him not to bother getting me anything and to pay £100 off his card Angry

cup we got a dvd at our 4d scan last time too but have never watched it, oops!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 06/12/2014 14:44

I have THE RAGE today ConfusedConfusedConfused

DH has decided that after 3.5 years of living in this house, today is the day he must paint the stairwell. There is some justification for this as we had damp in during the storms in the spring, and the area it affected in the living room was finally dried out enough to be replastered and painted this week. So that area genuinely needed doing but the stairwell is an added extra. It pisses me off because it means a load of upheaval in the house and me i/c dd completely when I could do with some sharing of her atm. But because he us performing a Manly and Useful Act I feel churlish for being fed up!! Mostly I am pissed off that he had the energy for it, when there are jobs I really want to be getting on with but I can't muster the oomph.

mummymog · 06/12/2014 14:51

Can they tell gender from 16 weeks? Twins get scanned every 2 weeks - 14 just now, so 16 at next scan - wonder when we'll find out first :)

cuphat · 06/12/2014 16:26

Yes, the earliest private clinics can tell you is 16 weeks. They correctly told us DD was a girl at 16+1 last time (they were 96% sure). We used the 20 week scan as confirmation. However I think it's unlikely the NHS would be willing to tell you so early on as it's not as obvious as at 20 weeks (unless you get a very nice sonographer).

Watch the DVD, stop! What's good now is that you can put them on the PC etc easily enough which means you're more likely to watch them.

I'm still coughing away here - poor baby. I've now had four weeks of coughing since being pregnant.

Tranquilitybaby · 06/12/2014 16:39

Thanks for the gears up on that little outfit detective! It's so sweet.

I'm out on my big night out tonight, but this morning my jeans are uncomfy so I guess I'm starting to show a bit. Hopefully no one will guess tonight, I've told them I have a UTI and anything except water stings like a b*tch at the minute! Lol

I was looking at books I intend to buy myself the baby. I loved Shirley Hughes Annie and Alfie books when I was little so will definitely get those. And the mog books, though not the last one (only recently found out about that and still not over it!).

Have given no thought whatsoever to what the baby will be wearing or sleeping in yet.

I am incredibly practical!

StopEatingThatMud · 06/12/2014 17:04

Ooh chicken and waffles tori yum! Glad you're feeling better.

tranquillity enjoy your night out! I have my pj's on already!

cup I really ought to I know! Maybe not today though, pas I don't have the rage but feeling very mopey. DP works in retail management so is at work All. The. Time. Through December. DD just had tears because "I'm sad daddy's not here" (he won't be home til 11pm tonight) it was all I could do not to agree and join her!

Me and DD did have a lovely Costa this afternoon, we were going stir crazy stuck at home. There's not much a cherry & almond muffin can't make better Smile
