Yes me croon especially at night. Drink iced water by the gallon.

croon979 · 04/12/2014 14:01

ah good, not just me - I am on my 4th pint of water for the day so far! Thanks tranquility.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 04/12/2014 14:09

Jazzy - Ever since I found out I was pregnant I keep thinking Christmas is ruined as I can't have pate. However, I might allow myself the tiniest little bit for Christmas morning breakfast (its tradition in our house).

Croon - My god I'm with you re constant thirst. I'm like Tranquility, I get it worse at night and will often wake up at 3am and need to guzzle two glasses of ice cold water.

croon979 · 04/12/2014 14:29

yes I am also bad at night Trying. Have to have water by the side of the bed and still wake up parched. Thirsty little plum that I am growing!

bubalou · 04/12/2014 15:10

Haha jackie - I was on that too!

I was also moaning about not being able to eat pate but I might have a little now I know I wouldn't be the only one Smile

Hi everyone, I just wanted to come and say hi - I've just had my dating week scan this morning and am 12 weeks 4 days pregnant, due 14th June 2015 :) Congratulations on all of your pregnancies!

I've noticed a few people on here have been taken Pregnacare - I had a sample in my Bounty Pack and am intrigued, but was nervous about taking them in the past for some reason (I was nervous about pretty much everything in the beginning to be fair!). Would you recommend them and should I seek advice from my midwife first?

xx

mummymog · 04/12/2014 15:51

Stopeating it was me - so glad it worked for you. I learned it in Italy and people think I'm mad here. My other mad Italian cure that ALWAYS works is putting chopped onion in a piece of Muslin, microwaving and putting it in your ear for ear ache.

Went to everything baby (awesome charity shop in Inverness today) got myself a maternity pillow I can roll over in without getting so tangled and picked up two fuzzy reindeer outfits in 3-6 that will fit our unborn twins NEXT winter. Now that's forward planning!

mummymog · 04/12/2014 15:56

Kakey - I found pregnacare really constipating last time round and then I got haemaroids so bad I named them! Not an expert but I think you need folic acid only till 12 weeks and then you can drop it. I'd just up your fruit and veg intake if your worried bout vitamins

cuphat · 04/12/2014 16:13

Trying, we haven't had any nights out since DD! We have no babysitters in the area plus bf would have made it hard (I could express in the early days but then DD became a bottle refuser!). Not that we went out much before DD - maybe a couple of times a year! But I've missed a few concerts that I would have loved to have gone to.

Congratulations to you, kakey. I take Pregnacare and have had no side effects. Not even slight constipation. They contain lots of vitamins and minerals; I'm vegetarian and my iron levels were fine throughout last time so I think the Pregnacare played a part. As mummy says though, folic acid up to 12 weeks is the most important thing, no supplements are essential after that (unless advised). You don't need to check with a midwife before taking though; mine was pleased I'd been taking them since pre conception.

Tranquilitybaby · 04/12/2014 16:28

whispers I think the nausea is starting to wain a little, yes!

We're out for a Chinese with friends tonight, anything I should avoid? Won't touch prawns x

mummymog · 04/12/2014 16:31

Tranquility - you can have prawns- just not sushi and raw fish. Enjoy your Chinese!

fortywinx · 04/12/2014 16:44

Cooked prawns and seafood is fine!

According to the NHS website, you can even have raw fish sushi so long as the raw fish has been frozen beforehand to kill off any parasites. I know that Yo Sushi super-freeze their fish before preparing, and any pre-packaged sushi from say Tesco or Boots would have gone through a suitable freezing process too. (Not that I love sushi or anything XD)

mummymog · 04/12/2014 16:59

I didn't eat salami first two tris before - turns out you can have salami afterall. I had a binge

mummymog · 04/12/2014 17:02

Ignore my last - advice on nhs website changed from back then. PUT DOWN THE SALAMI!

HexyQueen · 04/12/2014 17:03

my consultant told me I had high level of folic acid in my blood, so I said "I'm 13 weeks so can I stop then?" but she said no keep taking them. Maybe it's cos I'm still puking my guts up with HG, or cos I'm v underweight now but she said I still need it for growing the baby.

Oh and pregnacare made me very nauseous & sick both pregnancies which I wish I'd remembered before I spent £35 on the fucking things.

Cooked chorizo is ok as is pepperoni pizza as long as well cooked. I might be addicted.

Thank you everyone for your kind support. Some days are easier than others. Today I've been very anxious. Very anxious. Have to try and keep positive and upbeat.

Newcy · 04/12/2014 17:37

I daren't jinx myself too much but I haven't been sick today and the nausea hasn't been constant! Is this the beginning of the end of morning sickness?! I am finding that my appetite isn't coming back as fast as I would hope all I want is crap! I am really wanting a chippy tea but feel so guilty!
Hope every one is feeling well! Smile

cuphat · 04/12/2014 17:38

Hexy, my midwife last time said research had shown benefits of continuing to take folic acid throughout pregnancy. I haven't heard anything recently though.

NHS advice on food has changed since I was pregnant two years ago! I'm vegetarian and find cheese confusing as most vegetarian dishes contain cheese and advice on that had changed the last time I looked. Last time you could have goats cheese but only if cooked and only if not chèvre (with rind). I felt a right pain in restaurants asking if we went out for lunch but there is often no choice for vegetarians.

Chookford · 04/12/2014 18:01

Welcome and congrats Kakey I take sainsburys own pregnancy vitamins as they contain the same as pregnacare but is half the price! My midwife said to continue taking as it won't hurt so I am, but running low now and at nearly 16wks I may stop.

bingo completely understand the fear and the emotional rollercoaster, am keeping everything crossed that your good news will be with you soon x

Chookford · 04/12/2014 18:02

tranquility quietly celebrating your waning sickness, long may it last!!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 04/12/2014 18:06

Right, I'm all dolled up for a work's Xmas do. Unfortunately I have to drive so I can't drink. Wink

I hope everyone has a nice evening and I'll catch up with you lovely ladies tomorrow.

Chookford · 04/12/2014 18:08

trying have a lovely time!!

Jackiebrambles · 04/12/2014 18:35

Just come home to a letter from my midwife saying they've found group b strep in my urine sample so I need anti biotic treatment in labour.

Anyone else had this or had it last time??
