Finally got my 20 wk scan date. It's 22nd Dec, sadly this is also my only day in work for a fortnight over Xmas so I'll be missing for most of the day!

Also got all my other scan letters up until I'll be 38 weeks. I'll have 8 scans in total so I'm not too bothered that H will miss the 20 wk one. My mam will come with me though.

We've already decided on Charlie Jacob for a name as we know we are having a boy. H suggested Roddy!! WTF?? He thinks it will be fashionable in a few years??

bradders85 · 04/12/2014 17:00

This is one of todays scan photo's - we are having a surprise but am happy to guess and speculate so any guesses welcome! I'd say boy?!

Aww lovely clear picture bradders. Must have been lovely seeing baby again! I'm definitely finding out the sex- far too impatient to wait! For those who have had babies already, how accurate was your intuition over what you're having? I think I'm having boy for some reason and feel quite convinced! Will find out on Dec 29th!

bradders85 · 04/12/2014 18:09

Thanks blondie it was great to see baby again and I will get the chance again in a few weeks as they couldn't get all measurements (quite pleased really!) - and relieved obviously that what they could see was all ok. I having had any intuition but dp has been convinced from the start its a boy! Bet you can't wait to find out and a nice treat for you before new year!

Turquoisetamborine · 04/12/2014 18:58

Congratulations Bradders, I think that's a girl!

Snooky17 · 04/12/2014 19:24

Yay is lovely to see scan pics, I had my gender scan yesterday, midwife who listened to heartbeat at 16 week (yay) said boy, few of the old wives tales pointed to boy, hb on left side, craving savoury food, etc. I would have bet good money on it being a boy, nausea kicking in late and not nearly as bad similar to my son, so really surprised when told its a girl ! And everything looks as it should for 16 weeks phew

bradders85 · 04/12/2014 19:30

oohh interesting turquoise I like the guessing game and getting different opinions! And congrats snooky on a little girl :) Pleased everything went ok x

Kyz · 04/12/2014 20:56

Evening ladies :)

Had an ok day today, except I got a phonecall from one of the community midwives, telling me an emergency appt has been booked for me to discuss my blood results and to start me on fragmin. As a bit of background, I have protein s deficiency. Protein S is a natural anticoagulant. With my son I had a weeks worth of fragmin post birth, all was fine. This time, they wanted to re-test my levels as my initial test was done before I turned 18 which is when I believe they like to test now as apparently your levels settle as an adult, or something. Anyway, my levels were very low so they did this blood test last week (I didn't want to mention it, it didn't seem important at the time!) and arranged for me to see them in January, when i'm 24 weeks. Apparently my levels must be quite low as they want me to start the injections straight away and meet with the consultant tomorrow. Eeek. I think it's ok, but yeah, a new development :/

glad all was well at your appt totally, and I think that sounds quite positive - just up to you to decide what you'd like, and don't worry, I bet you didn't look a tit at all, you can't help having anxiety bless you

bless you cuphat has today been any better? Nope, nothing works, it's so irritating!

oooh tori that's not so long away!! exciting!

bradders lovely scan pic! :)

congratulations on your little girl snooky how lovely :) two weeks today until our gender scan :) Focusing on that instead of the above. Something tells me I'm going to get very sick of needles this pregnancy!!

CostaLotta · 04/12/2014 21:04

Lovely clear scan pic Bradders, I say that's a boy!

I am finding out the baby's gender on the 13th, have a private scan booked. Mainly for the very superficial reason of sale shopping.

Names! Love some of your lists so far. We have no boys names at all, everything we like has already been used by someone in our family/ friends. Girls names I like Freya but DH isn't keen. Anyone on facebook will know my surname is quite 'different' so don't want a name they have to spell out as they will always have to with their surname!

Titsalinabumsquash · 04/12/2014 21:13

We're finding out the sex in our next scan on the 17th, I still can't imagine having a girl so I'll assume boy, but only because I have 3 already Grin

I'm on daily Fragmin Kyz, after getting a Pulmonary embolism when I was pregnant with my first at 16 weeks, it's a pain in the bum (well thighs actually Wink) but you get used to it pretty quickly.

My hips have completely gone today Sad hopefully I can get a date for induction tomorrow to give me something to work towards, a firm goal to focus on.

My little one appears to be bundled into a little ball in my womb, I can feel a noticeable bump within my bump if that makes sense, it keeps wiggling away and my bump goes squidgy again Grin

After then next scan, all being well I shall do Christmas then start sorting out the clothes/pushchair/cot etc.
I cannot wait, I've been quite distant from this pregnancy so far, I'm hoping seeing the baby looking more babylike and forming a picture of a little person with a gender and name etc might help.

I'm loving the new scan pics. Smile

Congrats on the scans!

I'm even worse today (not good after nearly a week), Kyz - how about you? It's good that they've tested you and are starting a treatment plan asap, hope your appointment goes well.

I'm finding out on the same day as you, costa.

Wow, titsalina, the p.e. sounds scary! Sorry to hear about your hip.

Justyouwaitandsee · 04/12/2014 22:39

Hi everyone, baby is kicking and turning away like mad! It is an amazing feeling. After weeks and weeks of feeling like absolute death, I am finally feeling well and normal again. Bump is massive and looks like I've put a football up my top.
How is everyone else doing size wise? It seems to be growing every day...

Hello everyone, I'm a complete newbie, usually just a lurker. I have been reading this thread and it has been brilliant. I feel so normal when I read how much everyone is worrying, I'm a nervous wreck some days :/

I'm due 22nd May but am hoping (adamant) that I will be induced earlier after losing our precious son earlier this year at 36 weeks, which was utterly devastating. We have only just told our family today. Loving all the scans and names, not quite confident to join in yet but taking it day by day. xx

Purpleshoes2 · 04/12/2014 23:37

Had my consultant appointment and it's put me in a really bad mood. Which is such a shame I had my 16weeka yesterday with the midwife and it was brilliant heard the heartbeat (just because it was kicking like anything apparently - I couldn't feel anything!)

I've got Arnold Chiari malformation - which is a brain condition, made worse by straining (before I had surgery in Feb getting constipated could make me end up in hospital for up to 5 days!) I also can't have an epidural. So right from the start we knew it would be a caesarean under general.

This consaltant hadn't researched the condition and is talking about a 'natural' labour with no pushing - with the help of equipment. I just don't want to risk it I've felt how I'll I've been and to me (and my family) the risk just seems so stupid. We know a c section isn't ideal etx but at least it's something we know is normal. the consaltant just really panicked me. And yes I am scared of giving birth because if going to the loo can send me to hospital with potential emergency surgery then surly giving birth is so much worse!

Sorry to put a downer on the thread because it's been brilliant reading everything and getting excited but this consaltant has just made me really scared and frusted. As far as I was aware there wasn't an option!!

shinyhappyone · 05/12/2014 06:32

Hey purple. What a rubbish day. The last thing you said was 'option'. Think of it exactly like that. The consultant has given you another option. You don't want that option and have already decided on a birthing plan you're happy with. Say thanks for the advice but I am most comfortable with a c section ta. A friend of mine with ME had a similar problem but she stuck to her guns, had a c section and everything went well. Her recovery time was so much less than it would have been giving birth naturally (even with the 'help' they were going to give her). As with everything else in this game, we look at the advice and then decide ourselves what's for the best. Good luck xx

Justyouwaitandsee · 05/12/2014 07:12

Hi Purple, I can see why you feel annoyed. Do you have a consultant for your brain condition? If so, have you discussed your birth plan with them? And could you get them to back up your request?

Herewegoagain - great to have you join us. I can definitely appreciate your need to take things day by day and keep things low key. We haven't made any big announcements (just told family, close friends and work colleagues), haven't bought anything and refuse to get into discussions with people about plans for when I plan to finish work, how long I plan to take off for mat leave etc. People seem very quick to make assumptions, but after being so ill for the first half of my pregnancy, I really don't want to take anything for granted and am happy just to focus on each milestone as they come. Take care and good luck getting the birth plan agreed that you want! Smile

Sunshinesaz86 · 05/12/2014 07:46

Sorry your appointment wasn't what you had hoped for purple as the other ladies have said once you discuss it again tell them there really aren't options for u! FX u get it all sorted and can relax a little.

Welcome herewegoagain Im so sorry to hear what you've been through this year it must of been just heartbreaking for u. I don't blame you for wanting to take it slowly and do what feels right for u. Glad u have felt ready and joined us.

That Friday feeling just isn't so great when working a 6 day week, nearly Sunday ??. Hope everyone has a good day.

longestlurkerever · 05/12/2014 07:49

Hello here we. I am so sorry for the loss of your son. Congratulations on this pregnancy. I am sure there are times it will be bittersweet but I hope it brings you much joy.

purple That sounds crazy! Good advice from shiny I think. Stick to your guns.

Has anyone else experienced intense but short lived pain when they roll over at night or twist around? It's all over my proto-bump and rises from the bottom. I wouldn't describe it as cramping so hoping some sort of stretching pain but don't remember having it with dd.

CostaLotta · 05/12/2014 07:53

Welcome herewego. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your son and can't imagine how you must be feeling. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy and a beautiful baby next year xx

GnomieGrace · 05/12/2014 08:04

Morning ladies! How is everyone? I'm on my 1 week countdown for my 20 week scan in just 1 week! I've started having a few light movements, like popcorn popping predominantly on my let side and my friend had a Doppler machine which she lent us so we heard the heartbeat too this week! Purple sorry to hear the consultant has given you a bit of a downer but as others have said it's another option, stick to your guns!

herewegoagain1234 · 05/12/2014 09:00

Thank you for all your comments. Talking on here seems to make it all real that I'm having a baby!!!!Grin we obviously just want a healthy baby but secretly i want a boy as I have so many boy clothes and items --and
I'm too tight to buy anything else-- Happy Friday, sorry you are having to work tomorrow sunshine

mumxof3x · 05/12/2014 09:05

Were going for not finding out this time, I found out with all my 3 ds's so, this time i want to know what finding out at delivery feels like.

Congrats bradders, I think boy :)
And congrats on your girl snooky, how lovely.

Still no bump here, but thats normal for me and im kinda ok with that anyway as iv to keep it quiet till after christmas.

mumxof3x · 05/12/2014 09:06

Herewego, welcome :) and im really sorry to hear about what you have been through xx

Titsalinabumsquash · 05/12/2014 10:56

Argh on sitting waiting for my appointment with the consultant, it's about a billion degrees in the waiting room and there are easily 50+ women here waiting, all fed up at the 60min + lateness of all the appointments. Confused
