Yes, it's just that you need your birth certificate before you can apply and in some areas there is a waiting list for an appointment with the registrar so you may not get that till about 6 weeks. 4 months is about perfect though. I won't pretend it'll be fun, but I just survived a flight to oz with a three year old and it wasn't so awful and I reckon a young baby would be easier. The worst age is about 12-18 months when they won't sit still and can't be bribed with telly and stickers.

Titsalinabumsquash · 28/11/2014 21:25

Good evening everyone. Smile

An update from my camp.

Everything is going fairly well, I have one very bouncy baby, lots of unmistakable nudges and thumps here and there, it's lovely to feel.

I have managed to offend my SIL and MIL which I'm gutted about, it was over a stupid OTT melt down on my part after a hard day/night.
I tried to explain and they've been friendly but I get a feeling it won't be easily forgotten iyswim. BlushSad

No major taboo symptoms here, I am being very classy right now though in Frosties pjs and monster feet slippers. Grin

purple I too will be going to oz when baby is quite young although not until Christmas next year, so will be about 7 to 8 months then. I think it will be easier with baby than toddler.

GnomieGrace · 28/11/2014 22:52

Me and DH have signed up for the NCT essentials classes starting late February cost about £120, my neighbour has also offered to introduce me to the local breastfeeding support group as well as we don't have lots of parent friends.

KittyVonCatsington · 29/11/2014 07:18

Oh Tits Everything will be fine with MiL and SiL - it's the season of goodwill Grin

My husband plays for a cricket team and does an annual cricket tour up in Yorkshire at the end of July every year. So we have already booked our little cottage in the North Yorkshire moors - ready to take our 2 month old! Was really strange ticking the 2 adults and then 1 infant box,on the booking form Smile

Getting ready for a morning of Christmas shopping. Eek!

Turquoisetamborine · 29/11/2014 07:46

Tits hope all works out with the inlaws. What actually happened? (Just coz I'm nosey!)

Purple it won't be easy but I would rather take a baby than a toddler on a flight to Australia. We are taking little one plus six yr old to Mallorca when the baby will be 4 months old. We are booking a swim up room so son can play in the water, we can sunbathe on the balcony and baby can sleep in the room.

Turquoisetamborine · 29/11/2014 07:47

Kitty enjoy your Xmas shopping!!

longestlurkerever · 29/11/2014 09:53

Essentials class sounds a good idea. Don't remember that being an option with dd.

I might go to Argentina to visit a friend at some point. Haven't been able to plan it before now because of the uncertainty around all the miscarriages. Better take my own advice and go while the baby is small I suppose!

piglet81 · 29/11/2014 11:37

We're doing an NCT essentials course too - it starts at the end of Feb, which suddenly seems just round the corner! Hoping it'll be a good way to meet people as we don't have many local friends.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I've had a really lazy morning after a late night for a friend's birthday last night!

GnomieGrace · 29/11/2014 13:24

Piglet, mine starts 22nd of February and reunion date is 5th July, could we be on the same course?

Gingerbreadlady1 · 29/11/2014 14:16

Hi everyone, liking the sounds of the nct classes. Not heard of them before but not sure if that's because they don't happen in the Scottish wilds or just my pre preg-all things bAby-ignorance.

Was very tempted by mothercare sales yesterday but resisted temptation!

piglet81 · 29/11/2014 14:52

Hi Gnomie, ours starts 23 Feb so close but not quite Smile We're in south-east London. Have you added yourself to the stats spreadsheet (link at top of thread)? Would be so funny if people from this thread turned out to be neighbours! I think there's a Scottish contingent all at the same hospital, and I know Kitty and I are relatively near each other. Smile

KittyVonCatsington · 29/11/2014 15:01

Definitely piglet meeting up sounds like a plan Grin

Phew! Back from shopping! Going for 9am was definitely the way to go. Was done by about 11:30 so went for lunch. When we (me and DH) finished lunch, the place was manic!!!

Will wait till it is calmer before baby shopping Smile

MirrorMouse · 29/11/2014 16:02

Hello everyone! I'm joining the thread a bit late - I've added myself to the stats spreadsheet :) I'm due with DC1 on 6th May, so 17+3 today. Seemed ages since my last scan so I treated myself to a quick scan today just for reassurance and all looked well (although maybe I should have spent the money on a useful baby thing in the Black Friday sale instead as some of you have!).

Bought nothing yet but signed up to NCT classes with my partner - I think she's looking forward to them more than I am :)

KittyVonCatsington · 29/11/2014 16:14

Hello MirrorMouse and congratulations! Nothing beats seeing baby on screen Grin

avocadotoast · 29/11/2014 16:39

Hello Smile I'm new too (how do I add my details to the stats?) I'm 16 weeks today and due on 16th May.

SmileyScooby · 29/11/2014 18:41

Hi all, just checking in as not been on for a few days. I'm now poorly :( got stupid sore throat, headache and tonsils/glands feel up a bit, also now got a cough. Only taking paracetamol and sucking throat sweets. Wish I could take the good old beechams etc!!

GnomieGrace · 29/11/2014 19:53

I'm on a iPhone app so can't figure out how to update the spreadsheet but I'm in the South West DC1 dd May 2nd 12wk scan was 24th October, my 20 wk scan is 12th Dec. we have no gender preference, though I think it will be a boy as in 3 generations of his family there has been one girl born, his aunt who is one of 7! We will be finding out but won't be telling friends or family as we want it to be a surprise as it's the first grandchild on both sides. I'm 30, turn 31 in about 3/4 weeks! I think that's all the info sorry can't update it myself!

GnomieGrace · 29/11/2014 19:53

I hope you feel better soon Scooby!

shinyhappyone · 29/11/2014 20:39

Had no idea about the stats thing, have just added mine! Hope everyone's Saturday has been good. I had lots of cuddles with friend's 4 month old today making me even more excited to meet this little sprout! Going to brave the shops briefly in the morning. Wish me luck...!

KittyVonCatsington · 30/11/2014 07:50

Morning everyone!

Gnomie I've added you to the stats - avocado - not sure what is happening re: Apple devices - I used to be able to edit on my iPad etc. but now I can't - had to use my Windows laptop just now. Not sure why and Googling it hasn't mentioned why not.

If you want, I can add you to the states here docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vz79-U0xdw9e26ZK1-SCM9BvNHflp6q44zRdSBuJA5k/edit?pli=1#gid=0

plinkyplonks · 30/11/2014 08:00

Opps - should have said i added Gnomie on last night :D

Justyouwaitandsee · 30/11/2014 08:02

Hi everyone, just checking in - I tend to keep an eye but haven't posted in a while. Good to hear everyone seems to be getting on well, although a bit scared by those of you already buying stuff. We have been looking but agreed to wait until after Christmas. Also need to book into the preparation classes.

I am now 18+5 and have been feeling little flutters and movements for a couple of weeks but this morning I was woken up by a regular and repetative proper 'kicking' which I could feel against my hand. I must have felt 6/7 kicks in a row and had enough time to wake up my DH and he felt it too.

Is this normal? Everything I've read online says with first babies, you might feel flutters at this time but that they are unlikely to be strong enough for your partner to feel until 24/26wks. They were so strong and regular I also wondered if it might be hiccups?

KittyVonCatsington · 30/11/2014 08:13

Haha plinky -Gnomie is obviously twice as good Wink

Waiting till after Christmas is good for the January sales anyway Just!

I'm feeling lots of random movement at 18+1 too. It does differ from "lightening strikes", to "pops", to "twinges" that border on a teeny bit ouchy! Can't wait to feel regular movement Grin
