That's great news turquoise!

Sorry to hear some of you are still suffering, it's a shame as it doesn't really let u 'enjoy' being pregnant as you might have not suffering!

It's Friday thank god looking forward to a weekend off! Great sales on amazon yesterday and again today with it being 'black Friday' some great Xmas presents to be had at half price which is a god send if u have lots of ppl to buy for at Xmas!

d0ttyne11 · 28/11/2014 08:20

Happy Friday everyone! So glad it's the weekend. I've had a looooooong week at work and loads to get through before I leave the office tonight. Nevermind. I do keep thinking, once I go back in January I'll only have 3 months left. I work in the City and I'm always in a mad rush before finishing for annual leave or anything so have decided already to stop on DH's birthday (mid April) before the May baby comes. Plus I am absolutely certain I'll be huge by then and commuting is going to be a bit of a mission!! I've really grown over the last 2 weeks and still got months to go!

We're going to MILs this weekend so more baby chat I should think which will be nice. I saw my parents last weekend and they had lots of questions for us, which was nice (only tiny bit overwhelming!) just realise that retired parents have far more time to be thinking about their first grandchild than me. Most of my time is spent thinking about when I can next get to the loo for yet another wee stop!

longestlurkerever · 28/11/2014 09:45

Wow turquoise congratulations! Sorry I've been quiet lately. Not much to report. Feel a bit in limbo as have no appointments coming up and no bump or movements yet. Had a nice weekend in Paris with my extended family last week, although it's meant I've been very tired this week.

I have most baby stuff I need from last time. All I can think of to get is boring stuff like a new cot mattress and changing mat. Oh and our baby monitor broke so one of those. Though a lot of dd's clothes are quite girly so may need some new ones if this one's a boy. Am hoping all dd's stuff is OK up in the loft and has not been eaten by mice, but at least that'd give me an excuse to go shopping. It was only supposed to be up there for a year or so but this dc has been longer coming than I anticipated. I had loads of stuff second hand last time. It's great when they're babies as they grow out of things so quickly they're still in great nick. Plus it's better for the environment.

I had a mamas and papas pram, which was good value and comes with a proper carrycot bit as well as a pushchair and it can face both ways. It doesn't fold down very much at all though and isn't as nippy as the bugaboo - it's more of a tank! I also had a baby bjorn sling but this time someone has given me their ergo which I am most chuffed about as I had proper sling envy last time!

longestlurkerever · 28/11/2014 09:49

Oh and I need to turf dd out of her cotbed, and indeed room, at some point to make way for the baby so I have ordered her a mid-sleeper "high up bed" to soften the blow and will decorate her new room with her favourite things. At the moment that's Peppa pig, Charlie and Lola and Frozen but will wait and see if she's still as keen nearer the time - she is growing up fast!

Mslad · 28/11/2014 09:50

Happy Friday!

D0tty I don't know how you commute to the city while pregnant, that must be so hard....it's hard enough if not pregnant. I hope people are giving you seats in the trains!!!!

I fell asleep last night with the electric blanket on (I usually just out it on for 15 mins before bed), I woke after an hour sweating. I'm now panicked that I overheated and damaged the baby. Am I over reacting and just focusing on a new worry? Confused

Ameilius · 28/11/2014 13:42

So many unmentionable symptoms here! I had no idea about the pelvic-floor issues before I got pregnant. It makes me feel as if I'm about 80! I really hope it's not a lasting issues for ever..

Had my 18wk scan yesterday.. It went really well the heart, stomach, kidneys and bladder that should be visible were - the midwife doing the scan get saying 'I'm very impressed with how this looks' and telling us well done! I felt ridiculously proud even though all we actually did was sex.. It made me feel a bit better for having stopped taking the ante-natal vitamins because they kept making me sick..

Also we found out the gender! It's a BOY! I was completely floored as I'd been convinced that it would be a girl.. but I'm coming round to the idea now and getting use to using a 'he' when talking about it (umm..him)! Smile

Mslad not that I have any 'proper' advice I would have thought that as long as you aren't often sleeping with it on you'll be ok.. you probably woke yourself up long before if would have become dangerous. You're skin is going to get hot long before the heat reaches the baby..

longestlurkerever · 28/11/2014 13:52

Congratulations amelius! How lovely.

I echo what you said to mslad.

dotty I commute into central London too. Have started wearing my badge though feel a bit of a fraud as don't really need a seat yet. Just don't want to be crushed.

If it's the one you want Tori then I'd go for it! I'm not superstitious.

Thanks for the reassurance folks, my worry alert is reduced to amber.

Thanks Tori I've amazed myself with the amount of things I can find to worry about! Hope you're not as bad as me Smile

GnomieGrace · 28/11/2014 17:22

Hi all, I've been on mums-net a while never joined an antenatal club before, my due date is May 2nd so am 17+6, am o- blood just got results back and baby is rhesus positive so lots of lovely injections for me through pregnancy Sad I have my 20wk scan on dec 12th. I'll be 19+6 at that time!

Seasiderunner · 28/11/2014 17:22

Is anyone planning on doing NCT classes? Unsure if it's worthwhile, but would be good to meet people as I don't know anyone with kids where I live. Actually only one of my friends from where I grew up has a kid and I'm not there anymore. Also, will you be looking at the essential or signature course?

Hi all! Think I've been very lucky on the unmentionable symptoms! (Probably spoke too soon). I'm so tempted to go mad with Black Friday deals but think I need to research a bit more. Question- I'm 15 week now and keep having a fluttery feeling quite low down. Could this be movement? Or just wind?!

Seasiderunner · 28/11/2014 18:21

I was mostly thinking about meeting people too but didn't know of any others than nct. I don't know much about labour/babies but I'm sure I could pick that up myself

They generally do free nhs antenatal classea to and nct coffee mornings are not just for members. I made a nice group of friends through nct but met plenty more people out and about at baby groups so wouldn't say it's essential by any means.

Bit disappointed with black Friday. Couldn't actually be bothered leaving the house but online deals didn't look great. Voucher codes are the way forward I think.

KittyVonCatsington · 28/11/2014 19:53

Hope your worry light is down to green Mslad Grin

Hi Gnomie! You are pretty much the same as me (although sorry about the rhesus positive)

Not planning on NCT at all but will attend some antenatal classes - prob NHS ones and be pro-active meeting people post baby at groups etc.

Scottish If after the flutters, you get a "parp"! At the end of it, it's wind otherwise could be baby! I've been feeling them every now and then (more like pops than flutters) for a couple of weeks now.

Any one taken a real young one abroad! I don't want to but my only sister (although I have 4 brothers!) is getting married in September so the baby will be 4 months old. It's Australia so it's a very long way away. We're a very close knit family and my parents are helping with the ticket cost.

The thing is I'm terrified because hubby won't be with me (he'll be on a 6 month deployment in August) but I'm the first to have a kid, and my older brother also lives out there and it will be the only oppertunity for them to see 'it' when it's a baby, and who knows when the next time is they see them.

shinyhappyone · 28/11/2014 20:31

Hi seaside. I've just enquired about the nct signature class in our area. We only moved here a couple of years ago and have made some friends but not any with children so thought it would be a good way of meeting some people. Plus we're not all that clued up on the whole getting bean out process so hoping to learn a bit.
Really can't wait for 17 week midwife appt next week. Desperate to hear the heartbeat. Been too long since 12 week scan!

longestlurkerever · 28/11/2014 20:56

How old purple? Between 3 and 9 months would be ok I think. Earlier than that might be a bit tough as they'll still be in the screamy colicy phase and you might struggle to get passports etc sorted (though probably not impossible). Later and they get wriggle and hard work on planes but in between (pref while still breastfeeding actually, if you're planning to as less stuff to cart and good for soothing them) should be doable.

Jenni2legs · 28/11/2014 21:02

Hi All, I have just bought a (black friday) carseat from www.wauwaa.com/ with 50% off with code BFWau50.
They have travel systems and buggy's on there too. It says the code runs out after 100 people use it - hope it helps someone xx

Purpleshoes2 · 28/11/2014 21:08

Will be 4 months old, and I'm hoping mum will help a lot on the plane! She's had 6 kids in 8 years after all.

According to the gov babies under 12 months don't need there eyes open and can be lying down but has to be on plain white background
