You guys are so organised looking at prams and travel systems! Though I'm also trying to put money by a bit (despite Christmas) so I can budget for making baby related purchases from next January. For now (until the 20 week scan) I'm trying to focus on growing this baby more before buying anything baby related. There's so much budgeting to do though isn't there? Like someone else said, our car is about to pack up too, which isn't ideal timing but we'd manage without...maybe. Both or parents live far away though in pretty rural / remote locations without decent public transport so maybe the car is more a priority... Hmmm. Another one for the discussion list with DH!

Back to the baby stuff... This is my first and I picked up the john lewis baby catalogue thing just to get an idea of costs of stuff, but i'm really going to be open to buying certain things second hand.

Particularly given babies grow fast... I'll never forget reading that if all babies toddlers kept growing at the same rate through early childhood, by 10 they'd be as tall as a house! Haha.

Meanwhile I'm growing and even at 16 weeks have been in boots opaque black maternity tights for week (they are brill. Ordered them on 3 for 2 and picked up from local shop as couldn't really find them in stock!) plus worn a stretchy maternity dress to work already which was lovely. That's the only stuff I'm buying at the mo - maternity clothes so I can wear them for the whole 'season' (November to March!)

piglet81 · 26/11/2014 08:59

I'm wearing maternity leggings today for the first time! Smile They're much too big still but my ordinary ones were a) knackered and b) starting to dig in a bit. Good tip re the Boots tights, thanks!

Haven't started to think properly about prams etc - will see at Christmas time what my lovely SIL can lend us and then plan from there. Definitely want to get a sling though so will need to do some research. Couldn't resist buying a couple of tiny vests after my midwife appt this week although DH is even more superstitious than me and looked a bit Confused.

Hope everyone has a good day and that those suffering find some relief soon.

Ameilius · 26/11/2014 09:06

Glad to hear the 16wk scans are going well! I've got my 18wks scan tomorrow - can't wait to find out the gender!

I got the Aden + Anais muslins too Costa! First baby purchase, so very exciting! Haven't got a proper 'what do we need list' yet so think I'll wait til the sales for other impulse buys.. For people with children already - do mothercare/babyshops have good sales? I can't help feeling that Jan is very early to start buying big-items but if the deal is good enough..

I think the iCandy's look so lovely too.. I think I'm very easily swayed by the pretty colours..! We only have a little car (a Suzuki Swift) though so fold-ablity is going to be a big factor for us.

d0tty I'm also going to try and get as much second-hand as possible, most of the second-hand stuff is less than a year old and there are some such great deals on Facebook selling pages.

KittyVonCatsington · 26/11/2014 16:57

Hooray for maternity wear and second hand things-makes life easier comfort and budget wise Grin

I do wish that there were more opportunities to buy maternity wear in actual shops though rather than online. Such a faff!

definatlylosingmysanity · 26/11/2014 18:16

Lol yes mumxofx3 everyone thinks we are mad.
Sorry for late reply had a busy couple of days and not long got back from a hospital appointment.

Turquoisetamborine · 26/11/2014 18:41

Hi bonny pregnant ladies!

I had my consultant appt today. She suggested a c section before I did so that was great. I'm going to be having scans every three weeks due to my history and low Papp-A from my nuchal test. She said I had a good bump already and my son was a decent size so probably not a problem but I'm not turning down loads of extra scans!
I'm back for 16 wk midwife appt tomorrow then back for GTT on Friday. Never away from the place!
Still don't have a date for my 20 wk scan but she said she wanted me scanned at 19 weeks so hopefully it will come soon.
Kitty I would love to try on maternity stuff, it's crap it all being online isn't it? All the stuff I've ordered so far has been fine though. I'm 5ft 6 and a size 12 so I'm pretty average but for small and tall people it must be a nightmare.
Amelius good luck for your scan. Let us know the gender!
Piglet I too have been enjoying maternity leggings. I love them. I'm going to need more than one pair I think.

Sunshinesaz86 · 26/11/2014 19:05

Hi ladies, I had my 16 week appointment 130 BPM so healthy range which is fab and I've got it recorded too! Grin

I've found eBay great for cheap but decent maternity wear got some next jeans for £5 (used) but good condition and a nice wooly tunic for £11.00 (new). So pretty good if you ask me. Smile

Hope your all doing ok? X

KittyVonCatsington · 26/11/2014 19:11

Good to hear your MW is on board too Turquoise-I'm sure your next scan appointment will pop through the post soon! You will certainly get to know your hospital well Grin

Hope your hospital appointment went okay, sanity!

KittyVonCatsington · 26/11/2014 19:13

Hearing the heartbeat is lovely, isn't it Sunshine (oh and by the way, DH was finally, officially discharged from hospital this week for his wrist Wink )

Sunshinesaz86 · 26/11/2014 19:31

It is lovely kitty that's great news about mrkitty seems such a long time ago when he did it? Summertime! Glad he's all fixed! Smile

Our babies will be here before we know it! Grin

definatlylosingmysanity · 26/11/2014 21:10

Hospital was positive for a change today been classed as a high risk pregnancy due to past pnd and to pre terms so been expecting lots of consultants appointments. They have decided i have no need to go back now and after an argument with the community midwife i now have 2 birth plans. One is to get to hospital other is a home birth. Last 3dc were quick births with only just getting into hospital when dc5 appeared and no one wants me to give birth on way to hospital (its a 15 min car journey) so if i feel I'm not going to make it I'm having a home birth.
Looking forward to a relaxing pregnancy now had a scare early on so been anxious so far.

Im already in maternity clothes and just ocer 13 weeks new look have some in certain stores but not much choice same goes for primark but if you use primark your best trying them on i picked my normal size and they seem huge and i could have probably gone with a size down. I didnt check dd2 is 20 months and hates all shopping trips.

FeelingBlessed77 · 27/11/2014 10:16

Just had my 16 week appointment. hr found no problems. 147 bpm, and a little wriggler too.

mumxof3x · 27/11/2014 10:57

Just had mine with midwife too, all fine and 150bpm found straight away. Glad to hear everyone elses are going well x

Mslad · 27/11/2014 15:14

I just had my (almost) 16 week mw appointment this afternoon. She found the heartbeat no problem, well after my massive anxious heartbeat got out of the way! yay! 160bpm. She also said I could drop in every week if I want to listen for the heartbeat, but I agreed to visit every second week as I'm really trying to not be too neurotic (I don't think I'm succeeding yet!).I also got to feel how hard the uterus is, which was weird, and it's much higher than I thought!

Otherwise, my glucose levels are fine, but the high end of fine, so I need to watch my sugar intake. bye bye chocolate treats. My dp, who has become the food police already is going to love this!

Great to hear everyone else is hearing the heartbeats and that we're all ticking along nicely Smile Are most people feeling a lot better, symptom wise?

KittyVonCatsington · 27/11/2014 17:17

A good trio of appointments there-loving the healthy heartbeats FeelingBlessed, mumxof3x and Mslad!

Having a wobble. I still have constipation troubles and still finding it hard to cope with the rectal bleeding-today, there are still spots of blood when I wipe even though the BM was last night and my tummy has started to ache Sad Feel crap that I have one of the "unmentionable" pregnancy symptoms Angry

Aaaaand breathe...

Mslad · 27/11/2014 18:43

Sorry to hear you're still suffering Kitty but keep reminding yourself that the bleed is from the back and nothing to worry about. I also have an 'unmentionable' symptom too, but the opposite, I am getting a lot of diarrhea. Last week I had to work from home due to not being able to leave my bathroom for more than 10 minutes. It's totally fine if I want to work from home, but my supervisor said 'surely you're over your nausea by now?' I had to reply with something like 'I came in all throughout nausea, but this is another less glamours symptom' and hoped he got the message!

plinkyplonks · 27/11/2014 19:02

Can I join the unmentionable pregnancy symptom club?

Despite my efforts to do pelvic floor exercises, I'm still weeing myself when coughing and sneezing :(

KittyVonCatsington · 27/11/2014 19:56

So nice to feel not alone!

I've had similar conversations Mslad-usually start with "Has the morning sickness been bad/are you over it yet?" etc. and I have to truthfully say yes/it's not been bad but inside I am screaming that I am still in pain from constipation and on daily Lactulose!

Whilst I am glad I didn't have delibitating morning sickness, at least you can tell people and get some sympathy Blush
Instead, you lucky people get to hear about my bowel movements Grin

shinyhappyone · 27/11/2014 20:05

Awwww kitty that's rubbish. I haven't had that unmentionable since being pregnant but suffered with it a couple of years ago with ibs. It's just so uncomfortable and you can't explain it to anyone.
Plinky, I had my first experience of that today! I have a rotten cold so have been coughing and sneezing a lot this week! Didn't know whether to giggle or cry so just started squeezing instead Grin. Going to get on those exercises by the double! xx

Turquoisetamborine · 27/11/2014 20:44

Another successful 16wk appt today, heard the heartbeat. Was lovely. She swore me to secrecy though as said they aren't supposed to listen at this stage. I'll be seeing her again at 22 wks even though I'm consultant led.

We've had a windfall today so the pram of my dreams will be mine and it also means we can buy the house we rent off my dad which is my dream house so I'm absolutely buzzing! I don't even mind fasting for my GTT tomorrow that I had to cancel my long awaited hair appointment for.
I can totally feel the baby move now, it's so nice. He kept moving when the midwife tried to put the Doppler on him!
Sorry to everyone suffering poo problems. I have the problem of weeing around 8-9 times a night mostly from 4am onwards then thinking I'm finished and standing up and then realising I'm not. I am so sick of it!

Mslad · 27/11/2014 20:56

Fab news Turquoise what a great day! - heartbeat and dream house Smile Enjoy!

Kitty it's terrible that some symptoms are so taboo isn't it? I also know from a good friend how ill being constipated can make you feel. Do you expect it might pass soon? I mean, you don't think you'll have to suffer the whole way through, will you?

KittyVonCatsington · 27/11/2014 21:15

Yay Turquoise!! Double whammy-so pleased for you!

Not to be a pessimist or anything Mslad, but my midwife says it is likely I will need to take lactulose throughout, but I live in hope! Just pleased to have my current lodger Wink

Thinking of all my fellow May mums to be with taboo symptoms xxx
