smileysar you poor thing! things that helped me before was pregnant:

  • Vicks on soles of feet at bed (out socks on to stop it getting on bed sheets) seemed to help me sleep better - not sure if allowed Vicks vapor rub when pregnant though?
-gargling with salt water, numbed the throat a bit and am sure can do it as just gargling and spitting out etc
  • lots of fluids - hot black currant (with spoonful of glycerin - not sure if allowed), hot lemon and honey
Most importantly of all rest whenever you can x
Smileysar1 · 24/11/2014 22:42

Thank you everyone.
I'm sorry to moan on I try not to whinge too much. I'm almost 16wks and have not had a single day where Ive felt ok first it was morning sickness that lasted flipping all day and when that stopped this cold thing happened and I'm just miserable now. It's hard for my dh and ds too they're being fab and supportive but I hate not having any energy and I really wanted to enjoy this pregnancy as I know that we can only ever have 2 for many reasons...... You lot are great thanks for not telling me to shut up and stop moaning I will try the hot black currant thing, and I'm already on the vapour rub thing that does seem to help. Thanks again xx

shinyhappyone · 25/11/2014 06:35

Thanks for all the welcomes. Hope you're feeling better soon smiley. I've got a rotten cold at the moment and missing being able to take a tablet. They probably don't do much anyway but psychologically makes me feel better!
Have a good day all xx

mumxof3x · 25/11/2014 08:51

Welcome to newbies :) wow definatly DC6 lol congrats :)

Not too much going off here, ds3 has turned from a nightmare sleeper to an extremely even worse nightmare sleeper. Sooo tired.

Lots of pully pains here too.

Hope everyone is well x

Royalsteph · 25/11/2014 09:40

welcome to all the newbies
had my 16 wk mw appt today. heard baby's heartbeat, bloods came back clear. 20 days till scan Smile

piglet81 · 25/11/2014 13:37

Hi everyone, sorry some of you are feeling poorly and hope you're better soon.

Had my 16 week appointment yesterday and heard the baby's heartbeat (eventually - took ages to find, which wasn't nice). Bloods all fine too, so feeling good. Bump definitely growing too!

Fluffeh · 25/11/2014 17:07

Hi I've been absent from the thread for a bit due to worrying over my lack of midwife but I finally have one now! I met her today and had my 16 week appt she found the heartbeat straight away too. It was154bpm is that kinda fast?
It's ages until my scan as its a bit late at 21 weeks on 29th dec because it fell over xmas.
Hope everyone is still doing well x

Turquoisetamborine · 25/11/2014 18:29

Fluffeh that heartbeat sounds normal to me. My baby's was 156bpm and the sonographer said that was fine.

Sorry to hear about everyone with sickness (still!), anxiety and pains. I hope you all improve soon.

I have my first consultant appointment tomorrow to discuss my care then my 16 wk appt is on Thursday. I'm utterly exhausted and I'm going to tell the midwife that as I don't know if I am anaemic or what. I still have my H working away so I juggle childcare, work, housework, shopping, school fairs and nativities and all the other shit on my own. My job is also very stressful at the moment and I could do without it.

Sorry for the moan, the cleaner comes tomorrow so at least I don't have to try to fit in housework today as well.
I did have a try out of pushchairs in John Lewis today and really like the iCandy Apple to Pear. They have a deal on for the carry cot and pushchair in one bundle at the moment. Has anyone had one or have any thoughts on it? I'd then get a Maxi Cosi car seat to go with it.

Evening all, i had my 16 week appointment today at 13+2!!... Mw did hav a listen though and i heard the little beans heartbeat. It was approx 150bpm. I recorded it for dh to listen to.
My next appointment now is on 12th jan for my 20 week scan. Thinking december will fly by so that date will b here very quickly.
Envious of all the chat of mat pay. I will b taking approx 4 months off this time as i only get mat allowance being self employed.

bradders85 · 25/11/2014 19:58

Pleased all the latest 16 week appointments have gone well. I had a little try out of prams too in store and like the new silver cross surf and the pioneer (pioneer has bigger storage basket) so thats drawing me more towards that one for all the stuff I will be lugging around!

SmileyScooby · 25/11/2014 20:06

Pleased to hear appointments going well, wish I had thought of recording hb for DH...
Crikey following what you guys just been writing about prams I've just had a look, what a minefield!! Think we are going to go for something where we can fit car seat and it also has seat option for when older etc didn't realise how expensive they all are?!

CostaLotta · 25/11/2014 20:15

I have the icandy peach2. Love, love, love it. Am getting the adapters/ lower carrycot to make it into a double for this one as DS will be 2.7 so will still need pushing I think. Also going to carry baby in sling a lot, I'm looking at the close caboo has anyone used one?

Had my booking in with one-to-one midwives this week, it was very lovely! Now just got to convince DH that he agrees with a homebirth Smile

So glad to hear of all the good 16 week apps, love that heartbeat sound!!

Anyone bought any of the amazon lightning deals? I got the Aden & Anais muslins and some bright starts activity balls that DS used to love at baby group. Just realised that's my first baby purchase!!

bradders85 · 25/11/2014 20:19

smiley.....minefield is exactly that!! Me and dp were walking round like lost sheep and some nice assistant explained everything, I think most of them now can have car seats attached and seats clip forward facing and rear facing so will last till their older.....I know the silver cross ones do we were told about so most others must have the option too. costa not had anything from amazon yet but might have a browse!!

Kyz · 25/11/2014 20:43

Evening all :)

hi and welcome def :)

glad you had a good appt royal :)

hope those feeling poorly feel better soon!

glad your appt went well too piglet :)

fluffy glad you have a midwife now and your appt went well :) the hb sounds normal to me :)

wow jazzy that's an early 16w appt!! Glad all was well though :)

I'm definitely wanting a sling but have no experience so have no idea which, and i'm trying to talk myself out of an iCandy pushchair. DS has a nipper out n about 360, or i think that's what it's called, I should probably just use that for this one, with whatever adaptation it needs. Really should look into it!

I've not got anything for baby yet, I think i'll end up leaving it till after xmas, or at least trying to!

SmileyScooby · 25/11/2014 21:02

Glad to here I'm not alone bradders with the minefield side of things hehe I'm looking forward to the purchasing of stuff but know I will also hate it as DH bless him has no patience and big loathing of shopping and assistants so can't see it being completely enjoyable - May have to bribe him with buying something for him whilst we are out hehe

cuphat · 25/11/2014 21:23

We've got the icandy strawberry. We absolutely love it, it's been worth every penny.

With DD, we used both the Ergo carrier and a wrap sling. Both are great but DD wanted feeding whenever she was in them, and I never got the hang of feeding in a sling. I'm hoping to get more use out of them with this one.

shinyhappyone · 25/11/2014 21:23

Am absolutely leaving baby shopping til after Christmas. I have no idea where to begin! Shock This kind of research based shopping is usually made easier with wine. Oh dear...

BeanCalledPickle · 25/11/2014 22:02

Highly recommend the manduka. Amazing carrier. Dragged DD up several mountains in it. Everyone gets the baby bjorn but it's utterly rubbish in comparison!

Titsalinabumsquash · 25/11/2014 23:34

Good evening, stressful day here, I'm glad to finally be in bed! Smile

Does anyone know of any shops I can go and try out a range of pushchairs? Our nearest Kiddiecare shut down Sad
I'm south east-ish and I don't want to buy anything without testing it first.

Today we got orders from DS1's drs to demand we stay 2 weeks in London hospital in feb/march. I did point out that i be very pregnant by then and under the watchful eye of my consultant, also I'm likely to be a wheelchair to get around by then.
His answer?... Tough, you've got 2 1/2 months to sort it. Angry

Kyz i think she gave me the wrong dates when it was booked or maybe she has leave or sumthin? I'm not bothered tbh as i wanted confirmation bean was still healthy after the brown spotting i had last week.
Role on the new year and may/june will b here in next to no time for me.. I think i hav an appointment ever 2 weeks with community mw, 4 scans, gtt, hospital bloods!!

KittyVonCatsington · 26/11/2014 06:47

I missed all the chat last night-fast asleep on the sofa Blush

So pleased you finally have a midwife and in time for the 16 week appointment Fluf! My baby's hb was 150bpm Smile

The pram I'll be using is a Stokke Xplory as my darling sister is giving me hers. Probably getting a Maxi Cosi car seat to go with it but haven't really gone car seat shopping yet!

Tits Can you get to Lakeside? Massive Kiddicare there-Grrr to doctors!

January sales do sound like a good idea-i've also hinted at John Lewis vouchers for Christmas Grin

shinyhappyone · 26/11/2014 07:10

If you have a john Lewis near you tits, the staff in the Nottingham one were really helpful and knowledgable with no pressure to buy. Don't have to buy from them but good place to try!
Hope today is less stressful for you xx

Fluffeh · 26/11/2014 07:18

Kyz - while baby is small a stretchy wrap is the most useful (imo). And you can pick them up for under £30 on Facebook sling pages or eBay.
As they get heavier/wriggler a full buckle or mai tai is fab. I have both and love them. The buckle is easier to get on but I love how the mai tai is easier to adjust when swapping dd between dp and me.

Can anyone talk to me about spd? I can hardly walk/sit or stand. I'm only semi comfortable when laying down on my side. I have a support belt kindly donated by a friend but it's still really hurting. I saw my gp who just said it's because I'm pregnant again too soon - cheers gp very useful haha.
My midwife said to self refer to physio next Monday but that seems so far away when I can hardly move today. Has anyone got any miracle cures?

Purpleshoes2 · 26/11/2014 07:43

My physio has been wonderful although I've not got Spd - my right pelvis has dropped 2 cms because of my ligaments. One method she taught me (didn't work for me but I'm a peculiar case because of surgery I had in Feb) is lie on the side it doesn't hurt and then start raising your knee towards your chest. Apparently you should hear a reassuring clunk and your muscle do the work.

I am currently on crutches but hoping to come off them Thursday when they are going to try a bit more manipulation to put it back in the normal place.

Depending where you are though make sure you ring the physio because most self referals will get you a group session, I only didn't because of my surgery but the physio said it probably wouldn't have been picked up if if gone to the group one!
