Ooo now that is useful to know feelingblessed :)
Thanks for filling me in on the 16w appointment bradders and kitty really hope midwife does the heartbeat can't wait to hear it! Just hope haven't got too much padding! Feeling quite bloated and fat at the mo!

Must remember to collect a 'sample' in the morning before I go to work as don't think will have time when I pop out during lunchtime for the appointment - will that be ok or does it have to be a fresh sample for them to test?

BeanCalledPickle · 23/11/2014 20:08

I feel really disconnected from this pregnancy at the moment. Don't have symptoms. Really worried about the elevated liver enzymes they found on my blood tests, and what this means for me and the bean. Annoyed they tried to pass off booking a consultant appointment for the day after my twenty week scan as 'routine' when it clearly isn't, it's because of the elevated ALT and the fact they clearly want to see if its had any affect before they do anything. Which is just more worrying. And then I bashed myself in the stomach with the corner of a cabinet and that hurts! I know it's totally padded in there but still!

Sunshinesaz86 · 23/11/2014 22:01

Quick question for those ladies who've had their 16 weeks scan.

Did you take your DP/DH's with u, as u get to hear heartbeat?

BeanCalledPickle · 23/11/2014 22:05

No, because they don't always listen and then it's just him hanging around while you wee in a pot and answer fascinating questions about your bowel movements and diet:-)

KittyVonCatsington · 23/11/2014 22:16

Oh bean how worrying for you. There's nothing much I can say except I would feel the same as you if I had had those results. Thinking of you.

Sunshine, no DH didn't come to the 16 week appointment and I didn't see any other guys in the waiting room.

Sunshinesaz86 · 23/11/2014 22:44

Hmm ok, I didn't bother telling DP then my bloody mother interfered saying I should take him along because it's nice when u get to hear heartbeat etc had then made me feel guilty. I knew I should have just left it at it was!

Titsalinabumsquash · 23/11/2014 22:54

DP couldn't come with me to any of my appointments other than scan ones, his boss wouldn't take kindly to it and he's keeping them sweet so he can have 3 weeks off with full pay once this little Seahorse arrives.

I was only in there 10 mins, she went through my blood results, took my blood pressure and dipped my urine sample, quickly found babies heartbeat and that was that.

I don't see her again until 25 weeks now.

I'm getting some serious mh worries that I didn't have before with mh previous pregnancies, I'm struggling to cope without a solid routine and changes of plans are causing my anxiety levels to sore, I will speak to the consultant when I see her next week, I dint want to take anti anxiety medication though because apparently the baby would need to stay and be monitored for a few Days if I did.
I am seeing my counsellor in the week so hopefully he might have some coping strategies I can try.

My DH came with me to hear the heartbeat (we're resisting buying a Doppler) but only because it happened to fit around his shifts. My midwife was surprised he didn't come with me for the first appt.

Titsalinabumsquash · 23/11/2014 23:09

I forgot to add, if anyone's looking for baby stuff, amazon have tons of it on their Black Friday deals starting at 8am tomorrow. Smile

How interesting just! I was specifically told not to bring DH to the first appointment as they ask the questions about "are you in a safe relationship?", "Is your partner violent?* etc.!

Tits Hope your counsellor can help you with some safe coping strategies. How difficult for you.

Mslad · 24/11/2014 12:09

Hi all, I was in Amsterdam for the weekend with friends which was lovely, but very tiring. I've been off mn for the weekend so lovely to catch up with the thread this morning (when I should be working). It's really interesting to read the different approaches from different midwives, I do wonder why they aren't more standardised?

Can I ask, do most of you feel a lot more relaxed about things turning out ok with your pregnancy? I think I may have become used to worrying about it and am having difficulty letting go and just trying to enjoy it. That's probably unfortunately normal though is it? I have my midwife appointment and keep thinking that if I hear the heartbeat that I'll relax, but am I going to think that at every appointment?

inthewoods4 · 24/11/2014 13:01

Tits - I understand how you feel. I've recently been suffering with anxiety and am on anti-ds (since before I fell pregnant.) My midwife advised I stay on them, so I'm going to take her advice until I see my consultant. Also, I've found that CBT has really helped me. Last week I started feeling those anxious thoughts coming back but was able to control them - and feel fine now. Lastly, I think the hormones are to blame too - and lost of women feel anxious whether they've had mh problems or not! XXX

shinyhappyone · 24/11/2014 14:16

Hi everyone,
I hope you don't mind me joining the little May group. Was speaking to a friend at the weekend who was saying how supportive her mumsnet group had been so thought I'd take her advice and join!
I'm nearly 16 weeks and all good so far. Really can't wait for the 20 week scan the day before xmas eve!
Looking forward to hearing about all your experiences and venting some of the crazy on here when the anxieties creep up on me!!
xx

FeelingBlessed77 · 24/11/2014 14:59

Hello shiny and welcome. I have found this group very supportive, this is my first child and you never know if you are the only one going through stuff or not

Smileysar1 · 24/11/2014 16:21

Hi all
Sorry for this little moan. I've been unwell now with what i thought was a cough and cold solidly for 4 weeks. I have be we felt so unwell for so long. I've been back and forth to gp who said its viral and although we've tried antibiotics and now an inhaler plus 2 wks off work nothing seems to be working! I'm now coughing and getting a metallic like taste in my mouth. I've googled my symptoms and it's suggesting bronchitis. I'm worrying because nothing I seem to do is making it any better and I've read bronchitis in pregnancy can be dangerous bringing on early contractions from all the strong coughing.
Just wondering has anyone else experienced anything similar?? Can anyone think of anything I can do/take for an awful hacking cough that's not particularly productive?? I can't get back to gp til thurs and the next thing on his list to do is an X-ray which I'm really unsure about because of baby!!
Sorry just feeling very stressed ????

SmileyScooby · 24/11/2014 16:22

Welcome Shiny!
Tits - hope counsellor can offer some advice for you, must be difficult (hugs)
MsLad I too am anxious and worried between appointments so it is not just you - this is baby no 1 for me so not sure what to expect or when which is why I am always asking questions!!

I had my 16 week appointment today and all is good - I have still got a baby in there! Heard heartbeat - mw put it straight on it - was such a relief. She said it was a strong heartbeat so feel I can relax a bit again now...5 weeks until next scan - I have a feeling those weeks are going to drag!!

Mslad · 24/11/2014 17:23

Hello Shiny welcome to the May gang Smile

smileysar I'm really sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. I haven't had any experience like that so I'm sorry I can't offer much advice, but I really feel for you, that must be awful. I will just add that I know a lot of women, who for various reasons had to have x-ray's during their pregnancies, and they never caused them a problem. I'm sure your doctor would way up which is more important, getting to the bottom of your illness, or an x-ray?

tits I hope your counselor can help this week. Have you tried cbt? I know it can help women swear by it during pregnancy.

smileyscooby thanks for the support. It's so hard to relax about something you can't actually see, or hear. That's so great you heard a strong heartbeat! What a relief.....for a while Smile A good scan/appointment is like a drug that wears off and then the anxiety begins again!

jazzyjenbo · 24/11/2014 18:19

Just thought i'd say hi as i've been abit quiet on this thread recently.

I have a mw appointment tomorrow, not exactly sure why..think she may of given me a 16 week appointment a couple of weeks early as i'm only just over 13 now so will prob b back for actual 16 week appointment soon.

My dh has only ever attended the basic 12/20 week scans... With both previous dc's i had to go back a week after 20 week scan for more checks and with ds had a scan at 36 weeks and just went alone. This time i went for both early scans alone and have to get 3 growth scans later on with i'll just attend alone unless my mum wants to come. I record the h/b on my phone when they listen in so he gets to hear it.

Feel along way behind some of you who are getting ready for 20 week scans now x

KittyVonCatsington · 24/11/2014 18:26

MsLad - I completely understand where you are coming from. Worrying is ingrained in us I think! It is hard to relax when you are terrified something's bad will happen. No pun intended but I've learnt to take "baby steps" to get through it! Hope you enjoyed Amsterdam Grin

Welcome shiny!!

Great news SmileyScooby!!

Smileysar -poor love. I'd phone your midwife tomorrow and explain everything. She will at least be able to put your mind at rest about baby and suggest the next course of action for you. Xx

CockBollocks · 24/11/2014 18:30

Hi everyone, just popping in again!! I'm feeling much better and are now able to look at a computer screen without vomiting Smile

17 weeks now and have horrid pains in lower back and groin area, everything stretching etc but feeling pretty uncomfortable.

Glad everyone else is cooking nicely.

Could have written that myself CockBollocks! Grin

Justyouwaitandsee · 24/11/2014 20:13

Ooh smileysar - not sure if this helps, but I have had a persistent cough pretty much throughout my pregnancy. I have wondered if it is a symptom.

I am 18 weeks tomorrow. Am feeling more anxious now than I have been before. Since the sickness has subsided, I feel less pregnant than I have up until now.

I have had some pelvis pains, need to be careful not to stand, stretch or turn over too suddenly.

Snooky17 · 24/11/2014 20:14

I'm 15 weeks and have the same pains thank god for my hot water bottle is so reassuring that other people have the same thing happening to them, anyone still not feel like it's real ? I've had 4 scans I have a doppler so listen to the heartbeat every day but don't feel pregnant, just feel hurty

Kyz · 24/11/2014 20:53

Evening all :) Busy weekend as usual so i've got a few pages to catch up on!

Got haematology appt on weds, but I remembered this morning i've got a hairdressers appt for weds too, they are a few hours apart, but the hospital appt is bound to overrun into the hairdresser appt. Argh!

I am 14 weeks on Thursday, I think I feel fine, which worries me, but i'm sure it shouldn't, I'm sure everything is ok!

welcome to any newbies and good luck to anyone with appts this week :)

best catch up then, I have skimmed through but I can't for the life of me remember who I wanted to reply to!
