Why oh why have I been awake for the last hour?! I can understand it when OH is on earlies and getting up / heading out at 4.30ish but he's been off for 5 days (they get looong weekends every 3 weeks) and he sleeps like a log given half a chance! I've given up and come to commune with the sofa and TV. Only just over an hour until I need to drink lucozade anyways Hmm

JacktheLab · 19/11/2014 06:17

Me too geeky I've been awake since half three with my brain whirring, mostly about where to put the Xmas tree!!!

GeekyHybrid · 19/11/2014 07:04

Just drank my lucozade, chances of dozing now are slim! Maybe I'll sleep after MW at 9, we're off to a concert this evening and want to be awake for that!

GeekyHybrid · 19/11/2014 07:12

ps - you've got me thinking about Christmas tree now! So need to tidy / sort the house Sad

JacktheLab · 19/11/2014 09:18

It's nearly Xmas and we have a three year old, December is going to be a very big month in this house!!!

Memphisbelly · 19/11/2014 09:44

This year I am so excited about christmas, ds is 4 and is becoming such a caring, generous boy he wants to know who we will see and when and what we can buy them. Also thinks Santa only brings one present which is lovely but also annoying as he won't say he likes or wants anything else.
The nice thing about him not wanting much is we can do more with him like Disney, santa trips, etc. our tradition since we had him is every year he picks a new decoration for the tree I just want it to be special this year.....it will be the last one where he is my only child!

Bangonthedoor · 19/11/2014 11:36

I a so excited about Xmas this year! DD is much more aware and knows she needs to be good for Father Christmas Wink ...definitely comes in handy at times! We've spent the morning making little festive chocolate bags for her little friends Smile

Tomorrow we're making our annual Xmas trip to a garden centre which is amazing at christmas! It's a huge place ....about 40 min drive from me but so worth it! They've got their reindeer in the barn already and their whole Xmas display is complete...so excited...can you tell?! Grin

Honeybird · 19/11/2014 11:41

First mumsnet post ever here... I've been stalking you all for ages, really lovely to hear all your stories. I'm due feb 12th with a girl. DS1 is 4 (EMCS) and DD2 just turned 2 (VBAC). So tired already and working full time. Totally impossible to get comfy in an office chair. Last time brought a birthing ball into work but honestly didn't help much. Any suggestions?

freneticfox · 19/11/2014 12:22

Afternoon all!

When do you count the third trimester as having started? I'm 27+4 and some people have said "Oh, in the last bit then!" and others "Only a couple of weeks until the third trimester!"

Google seems to have it varying, just wondered what the general consensus is here?

Honeybird · 19/11/2014 12:43

I'd say 27 weeks. That makes the first trimester 13 weeks, the second 14 and the third 13 weeks long.

JacktheLab · 19/11/2014 12:44

Hello honey :)

L1ttleMissGiggles · 19/11/2014 12:54

Welcome Honeybird Smile

frenetic I am 27+2 and on Tuesday my app told me that I had entered the 3rd Trimester. The time seems to be flying past! Our little bundles will be due before we know it! x

BanglesSpangles · 19/11/2014 13:03

elloo, ive been counting the third tri from the start of the 28th week, or 27+1, to look at it another way!

Also had the mad realisation a couple of weeks back that ive been pregnant for over half a year- mental!

Went for a blood test this morning- my hospital doesnt do appointments, so I turned up at 10 past 7 (10 minutes after the drop in session started) and there were already 50 people in front of me in the queue Shock

BanglesSpangles · 19/11/2014 13:04

and hello honeybird- we have a spreadsheet of joy- I'll add your details to it :)

PeppermintInfusion · 19/11/2014 14:52

Gave myself a bit of a fright at lunch with my first experience of braxton hicks- came on here to catch up and realise some if you are getting it too, v reassuring Smile
I decided to go a walk to buy my lunch. My office isn't near a lot of stuff as it's in a new area of town- got halfway where there isn't really anyone and had a crippling stitch, too far to turn back or go on. Eventually made it to the shop and had a very chilly al fresco lunch to rest up before the walk back at much slower pace. Need to remember my packed lunch in future!

purpleteapig · 19/11/2014 14:53

Welcome Honey!

I feel like i'm having to ask work for endless time off for medical appointments at the mo. Is anyone else feeling guilty? In my area, women are seen at 28, 31, 34 weeks etc. Add to that my extra consultant appointment at 33wks (on my last work day, oops) and another appointment to have the whooping cough jab - I should just install a revolving door!

Mimosa1 · 19/11/2014 16:00

Hi Purple, I know what you mean! Seems I've got an appointment every other week. Plus have the afternoon off today to take my driving test - got all the way there and found I'd picked up DH's paper counterpart. Wondering if I can blame him for leaving it in "my" pile of paperwork gharghhhhh
So not looking forward to going in tomorrow and having colleagues ask how it went!!! Anyone else had any pregnancy brain moments they want to tell me about to make me feel better? Grin
Had our first nct class yesterday. Instructor and other couples were really nice. Quite reassuring that I'm not the only clueless FTM around :-)
Xx

Grinningcat · 19/11/2014 16:09

purple I'm having to do the same thing, but work are completely accepting thank goodness. Add to your list of appointments I'll add in one for my Anti D injection too which I due to get through the post anytime soon.

Having a flexi day today and I so need it. Apart from finishing the ironing (now done) I am doing nothing apart from catching up on some rest. Last night I woke twice for a wee and once at 5 with such bad leg cramp I woke up poor DH who massaged it better.

Oh and just had to break up a massive cat fight as the neighbours keep encouraging a black cat from a few doors down and my cat won't stand for it in our garden. Cue my 10 year old cat beating the shit out of the larger younger cat and the neighbours being shocked. Well don't encourage it if you don't want it hurt.

Memphisbelly · 19/11/2014 16:26

Grinnning you cat sounds like my rabbit....double hardGrin

Mim oh no what a shame, how long will you have to wait for next test?

I have got rid of sling today and have bandaged my arm and it feels so much better, hardly any pain like the bandage is holding it all in place. Mum has ds tonight so we are going for a meal I was thinking nice place on the canal....dh must suggested a cheap place that I wouldnt mind for a quick bite but I want nice....so apparently im a snob....no I just want to go somewhere that has an actual oven and grill not just a microwave to cook my food!

We also have appointments here at 28,31 and 34 here too. I have blood tests friday, mw weds.

PinkyAndTheBump · 19/11/2014 16:39

Hello all.

I'm a ftm and due 09/02/15.
20w scan suggests a girl :)

All going ok so far - had whooping cough jab yesterday (boostrix ipv) and 28w scan & consulant chat yesterday. Consultant due to age primarily. Getting lined up for induction at 39w which I am in several minds about!!

Have megaboobs - gone from 34f to 38j but can still (just) into my jeans as bump is still rather compact.

Bangonthedoor · 19/11/2014 16:41

Welcome honey!

memphis I hope you have a really lovely meal Smile

We don't have a 31 a appointment here if it's not your first baby. So have to wait until 34 weeks now which means I won't actually be at work by then. So my midwife was supposed to leave me a 'fit to fly' letter for me to pick up at the centre for our trip to Dublin at the weekend but she's forgotten. I've left a message but not heard back yet. I'll be 29 weeks but if I don't manage to get hold of a letter and happen to get asked at the airport I was going to lie to the airline? Maybe say I'm 26 weeks or something. What do people think?

donkir · 19/11/2014 17:09

Welcome pinky and honey.

I don't have 31 week app here either next one is at 34 weeks (week after xmas)

I'm feeling guilty all the time for having appointments especially emergency doctors ect. It's not like I can catch up on work. As a nanny if I don't work it means my boss also can't work. This means I feel too guilty to do the afternoon breast feeding classes.

My boobs have also increased from a 32d to a 34e at last measure. It's costing me a fortune as again they're now too tight. I've just ordered some sleep stretchy ones as I read on another thread that these are quite comfy for day time and should last until my milk settles after baby is born and I can get some more decent ones.

Memphisbelly · 19/11/2014 17:29

Welcome newbies!

Bang what is the limit to fly with airline I wouldnt think 29 is a problem?

BanglesSpangles · 19/11/2014 18:14

Welcome pinky!

Completely agree on the appointment merry go round- I've been making an effort to book the first appointment of the day with the midwife but that still means i get in an hour later than usual and I've been working late to keep up. My maternity cover has started already and in a funny way that's slowing me down even more cos i need to do hand over for everything which is taking ages! Just feeling totally swamped still!

When are other people's mat cover starting? I feel like mines quite an early one!

PeppermintInfusion · 19/11/2014 19:05

I might have to travel for work in January Hmm so I was looking into flying- it depends on the airline but most allow you to travel up to 36 weeks but you need a doc's note for after 28w, not sure how they'd actually check mind you.

Dublin will be lovely and christmassey! I love going down there this time of year.
