Hi!

After approx 5 15 BFP's ranging from super faint IC's to super
BFPS with FRER - I am due DC4 1st July Grin

Already have ds1-16y,ds2-12y, ds3-6y.

Ds3 will be 7yo before dc4. Didnt really think it was such a big gap as he still feels like young iyswim til I sat and thought about it! Shock

I am wildfire! Apparently our local hospital is fab. I have the worlds lowest pain threshold and imagine I will need all the drugs they can throw at me. My mum had traumatic births with me and my sister and that would always be in my mind if I did it anywhere other then a proper hospital.

sdyer · 02/11/2014 17:25

I'm having a hospital birth and hopefully a water birth. However the birthing centre only has 6 beds as opposed to the normal maternity ward. I guess it's first come first served.

Thepurplegiraffe · 02/11/2014 17:43

I am hospital birth as well. I think I have to anyway as the last was a c section but I also know too many people who really needed to be in a hospital at the time. I would be too scared of what could go wrong. Having said that I know other people who have had home births and loved it. I think that's what midwives are pushing now?

Bustherb · 02/11/2014 18:34

Anyone else know of remedies for diarrhoea? I seem to be going all the time which I don't mind while at home but I'm travelling with work on Tuesday and it's the last thing I want! Can we take immodiums ? Xx thanks

VirtualPointyHat · 02/11/2014 18:56

ugh

I am a hormonal wreck, feel constantly nauseous, but DH promised roast pork tonight.

Came home and he had turned mybeautiful joint into -slop- stew in the slow cooker

I sobbed

SophieBarringtonWard · 02/11/2014 19:36

My DH is a doctor too wildfire. He's on nights at the moment so haven't actually told him the news yet!

fattycow · 02/11/2014 19:42

Homebirth for me. I associate hospital birth with my sister dying, so I would not feel comfortable at all!
We are 25 minutes away from the nearest hospital as well and that isn't an issue at all. If I end up needing to go to the hospital, either the midwife will take me, or she calls an ambulance. Not worried about that at all.

What can I Take for Diarrhea During Pregnancy?

What to take for diarrhea during pregnancy is the common concern of pregnant women. Remember there are certain diets that are recommended to pregnant women who are suffering from diarrhea during pregnancy. For example there is one called the BRAT diet and it originally includes toasts, bananas, applesauce and rice.

New versions of the BRAT diet also recommend a higher intake of certain minerals and vitamins, such as zinc for example, which aren’t provided by the diet otherwise. This eating plan assures gentile nourishment for a future mom’s body and it keeps meals healthy and tasty, so if you want to start this diet, consider including the following ingredients in your daily menu:

Lean meats like skinless chicken or turkey breast
Carrots, rice, noodles and light soups
Yogurt
Potatoes, enriched cereals, low salt crackers
Similar over the counter anti diarrhea medications are safe to use. It is also safe to take loperamid (Immodium), but avoid bismuth-containing products like Pepto-Bismol, they contain salicylates which are an aspirin compound and should be avoided during pregnancy. If your diarrhea is not going away after about 48 hours, you should see your doctor.

toastedcheesesandwich · 02/11/2014 20:17

Thank you Mrs Ryan Gosling and Mistersafetycatch! I'm worried that I'm not tired or nauseous though! Also I had tiny spotting today. I'm only 4+2 so I guess it's just a waiting game.

sdyer · 02/11/2014 20:33

toastedcheesesandwich I'm 4+3 and not having any symptoms yet. Ice read that they come in the 2nd month so it will be a waiting game. I've also heard that no sickness means a hard labour and vice versa but it's probably old wives tales

sdyer · 02/11/2014 20:35

Although I have been tired but I'm generally a tired person and a a bit low on iron

ignominious · 02/11/2014 20:38

Purple are you going for vbac?

Thepurplegiraffe · 02/11/2014 20:42

Good question, Ignominious I have no idea. I started thinking about it last time but when I had the miscarriage I just stopped. I am not daring to really think about it this time, it is still too early.
Have you had a c section?

EnglishExpatUSA · 02/11/2014 20:49

Hi all,

I would also like to tentatively join if I may - the NHS website says my due date is 9th July :-) If all goes well this will be our first baby. Really didn't expect it to happen so quick, first month of TTC!

We are living in the USA at the moment and they've given me two blood tests to confirm the pregnancy and check my HCG levels are going up appropriately (they tripled in 48 hours!) They've also booked me in for a scan at 6 weeks.

I don't feel sick yet but my boobs are soooo painful and I'm weeing constantly, including getting up several times in the night. Sorry if that's TMI!

Excited but scared too!! Congrats all.

WiIdfire · 02/11/2014 20:55

Welcome Expat! Interesting to hear how your care in the US will differ from over here so keep us updated.

Pinksuitcase · 02/11/2014 21:14

I'll be having a hospital birth. DD was a theatre forcep delivery (and she was and is fine despite the forcep phobia on here!) i had a retained placenta and large bleed so hospital all the way for me! But i wont be having gas and air as it makes me horribly sick ( to the point of collapsing veins through dehydration)

Its funny, as i was being patched up after DD 28hr labour and slightly traumatic birth i thought, i'd do tgat again! I still would have the same birth this time too. I dont reallyvwant a section as recovery worries me with a newborn and a 23 month old!

ignominious · 02/11/2014 21:18

Purple yes emcs, was yours? You can get appt to discuss options at hospital. I had one booked before. Ugh.

SaBearOz · 02/11/2014 21:46

Hospital birth here too- I have a minor heart beat issue that makes me higher risk although there have been no problems in my previous 2 labours. I work in a hospital environment and trust nurses/midwives/doctors and therefore being in that environment doesn't cause me anxiety but rather provides me with reassurance- also in previous labours I actually didn't care where I was, who was in the room, whether I was wearing the right thing or had the right playlist on as I was just so focused on breathing and getting through each contraction

Thepurplegiraffe · 02/11/2014 21:48

No mine was elcs as DD was breech and couldn't be turned. The whole thing was so calm and the recovery much easier than a emcs that I don't want to decide to try vbac only to have to have an emcs.

TallGiraffes · 02/11/2014 22:00

Mine will be another ELCS, I have a medical condition that means it would be too dangerous to try for a natural birth. I loved my first one though, and I healed super quickly, so hopefully will be the same this time.

MsRyanGosling · 02/11/2014 22:27

ELCS here for me also.
Ds1 forceps delivery after failed ventouse
Ds2 EMCS after failed induction (head not engaged)
Ds3 ELCS -head not engaged and 10lb7.5oz @39 weeks.

Welcome to all the new mamas to be Thanks

I'm having some pains on one side, hopefully just stretching on old c scar. Other than than no symptoms whatsoever Halloween Hmm

EskiDecaff · 03/11/2014 07:26

I had the tiniest bit of spotting yesterday, as in a pin prick of blood. Nothing else. I'd reassured myself it'd be ok until I saw my mum this morning and she has made me freak out. I've not had any pain as such but do feel a bit gassy (TMI I know) I'm only 4+6, what's going on?Sad

IBelieveInPink · 03/11/2014 11:12

Hi ladies! I'd like to tentatively join.
Due date 12th July.
I am very nervous, as I had 2 mcs before having my dd. so not really believing this one will stick but trying to be positive!

I will also very likely be an elcs. My dd was born by emcs after a failed induction (and a tiny cord) so guessing this one will be cs too. If it works.

Lovely to meet you all Smile

usernameiwanted · 03/11/2014 12:31

Can I join please!! I've had two positive tests today and so currently waiting on a midwife appt this week. It will be my second baby after an elcs as my ds was breach. DS1 is 16 months who I'm certain will be a lovely big brother!

After months of trying for dc2 it feels very surreal at the moment, I'm sure there must be a mistake?! Eagerly awaiting the first scan to confirm everything is ok and 'real'!

sdyer · 03/11/2014 13:05

Welcome usernameiwanted i know
What you mean about waiting till the first scan. It doesn't seem real for me either as it's my first. I'm hoping the scan will be during the Xmas break as I'll be 12 weeks on Boxing Day. I'd like to go back to work in January and let work know.
What's the norm for telling work??
