Hi!

After approx 5 15 BFP's ranging from super faint IC's to super
BFPS with FRER - I am due DC4 1st July Grin

Already have ds1-16y,ds2-12y, ds3-6y.

Ds3 will be 7yo before dc4. Didnt really think it was such a big gap as he still feels like young iyswim til I sat and thought about it! Shock

Congrats doodle and tiptoe

I'm not yet sure what we'll do mistersafetycatch we already had plans to divide the large bedroom using that ikea expedit unit to create more personal space for my DS who is 11, leaving the girls on one side together. A 3 bed would cost the equivalent of an extra £350 per month which, on one income, would stretch us to the limit. I'll be 12 weeks in the new year so we are waiting until then to make any long term decisions.

virtual one thing I've learned being such a veteran and all Wink is that babies need very little, don't fall for the marketing! Lucky for me as I just don't have the space.... This baby is going to have only the bare necessities

Threeplus1 · 05/11/2014 13:19

I always folded the top of the nappy waistband down virtual to prevent it from rubbing against the cord and irritating it. Plus it needs to get airflow to dry out

JoY007 · 05/11/2014 13:44

I am sorry to hear of you loss @toasted, hang in there Thanks

Got my letter from hospital - the booklet in the letter was rather scary re all those probability and chance tests. Has any one of you none first timers ever declined doing those tests (down syndrome, sickle cell et al)?

SquirrelGirl78 · 05/11/2014 14:09

Anyone have marginally less sore boobs? I'm convinced my boobs were more painful last time round. Worried that at 5 weeks and 4 days that the pain is abating. Though mind you, I seemingly worry about everything!!

AudTheDeepMinded · 05/11/2014 15:02

Joy, I didn't do any tests with either pregnancy on the basis that I would not consider an abortion if there were a problem and that the tests are not very accurate so could give false worry or confidence that was misplaced. I have several friends who worried themselves sick about their probability of having a Downs baby only for it to be ok and some other friends who were told everything was fine when it was not.
And if a problem is detected you may need amnio to confirm it which carries it's own risks. We decided just to deal with whatever we got.

Threeplus1 · 05/11/2014 15:23

I felt exactly the same as audthedeep and never had any of the extra tests. I won't be having them this time either

Tiptoeshoes · 05/11/2014 17:42

Yup I second what threeplus said above I folded down the nappy to let the cord get air to dry out and not rub on the nappy. It falls off within week.

Got my nhs scan confirmed today as 6th of jan. really wanted one before Christmas but 12-13 weeks is standard around here.

Tiptoeshoes · 05/11/2014 17:43

Last time I had all the tests. I think just to be informed. But it wouldn't affect how I felt, I'd def keep the baby I'm sure.

bambi2489 · 05/11/2014 17:45

Hi Ladies!
I've joined the convo. Hope you don't mind. Found out last night I am pregnant - July 23rd is my due date Smile !! Husband and me are elated as we haven't been trying long and had a terrible time with depo injection!! Xx

Huffs123 · 05/11/2014 18:56

Hi everyone! I got my bfp today, due 18 July!! (It's my birthday on the 20th)

Still in a bit of shock, cycle 1 for us. This is DC2, DS is 9 months and I'm still on maternity leave!! I had just recently been made redundant though so we've had to quickly decide to get all our baby making over with now!

There's lots to read on this thread so I'm hoping to catch up later this evening Smile

sdyer · 05/11/2014 19:00

Hi all came home to find my dating scan waiting for me. Date is 30th December Smile DH and I have decided to have all the tests done.
I haven't got a date for a midwife appt apparently there's one before the scan that's about 2 hrs long?
Welcome newbies and congrats xx

Tiptoeshoes · 05/11/2014 19:42

Welcome huffs and bambi. Yey for more babies Grin

Sdyer there's a booking in appointment at about 8 weeks and yes it did take a while I remember. Maybe not 2 hours though??! They just ask you load of questions about family history. And take blood and urine ( they do urine every time you her very used to peeing in a pot!!) Wink

sdyer · 05/11/2014 19:49

Thank you tiptoeshoes I guess I'll wait for the letter. Saw faint veins on my boobs this morning and had to undo my trousers at work lol x

Bustherb · 05/11/2014 19:52

Hi sdyer, did u go in and see the midwife to book the Dating scan? Or did you just ring up and it came automatically?xx

Tiptoeshoes · 05/11/2014 19:56

Round here you phone the midwife service as soon as you find out your pregnant. They book you in for the first midwife appt at 8 weeks and the first scan at 12 weeks over the phone. Then send a confirmation in post.

My scan isn't until January....it's going to be a long long wait....

Bustherb · 05/11/2014 20:03

Thanks tip, not sure how they do it round here. I rang the midwife straight away as the doctor told me to, and she's Booked me to see her at 8 weeks but didn't mention anything about a scan Hmm xx

sdyer · 05/11/2014 20:29

Hiya Bustherb. I called dr but they can't see me till next sat. I then heard that you can self refer to the antenatal so I went online and filled in a form which I faxed on Monday (called to confirm receipt) then letter came today x

sdyer · 05/11/2014 20:30

I'm really impatient lol xx

Butler4 · 05/11/2014 20:30

Yeah I'm the same booked my booking in appointment for 25th November over phone with midwife and had a letter saying to leave at least an hour for it. No conversation about dating scan yet. Hoping it will be week before Xmas as my husband works away and is away from 23rd onwards! Want to tell people before he goes

sdyer · 05/11/2014 21:18

Hmmm perhaps I should call them tomorrow and ask for a booking in appointment

Thepurplegiraffe · 05/11/2014 21:55

I haven't even thought of booking any appointments yet, same as Ibelieve. Think I am behind alot of people though at 4 +2. There is no rush right?

IBelieveInPink · 05/11/2014 22:06

No rush at all Purple. My head is firmly in sand! If I get 3+ this weekend on cb digi I may consider calling someone next week. Maybe.

Butler4 · 05/11/2014 22:06

I just read that you should phone doctor to arrange booking appointment as soon as possible after a positive pregnancy test. First time for me so don't have anything else to go by

Threeplus1 · 05/11/2014 22:53

Where I am, if you want a midwife you had to start ringing round soon as you poas, otherwise you risk being wait listed or not getting one at all. Fine for those who don't mind an OB handling everything, but not those of us who prefer low intervention pregnancy and birth. I've got two appointments with different midwife clinics and shall decide which I want to proceed with after.

fattycow · 06/11/2014 10:44

squirrel, my left boob was less sore yesterday evening, but they are both sore again today...

6 weeks today! Smile
