Kilicat brushing my teeth used to make me throw up when I was pregnant with DS, it happened every morning without fail from about 6 - 14 weeks, with waves of nausea during the day especially if I didn't eat regularly enough. I lived on breadsticks, salted crisps and peanut butter sandwiches for a while as that was all I could stomach. I also took to carrying a plastic bag, tissues and a bottle of water everywhere just in case as it was often brought on by busy commuter trains / tube and I had a few sudden vomit incidents, the worst being at 16 weeks when I thought all the sickness was over but suddenly had to throw up on the street outside my office one morning, no warning it just came out and no tissues or water on me either so I had to use my scarf to clean myself up before going in
Everyone was too polite to mention it if they saw luckily for me. I didn't have any sickness before 6 weeks though and some lucky buggers don't get any at all. Pre 6 week symptoms were big achey boobs, which stopped hurting between 4 and 5 weeks, dizzy spells and constant blubbing at minor things. Not much this time expect tiredness and slightly bigger boobs, although I did well up at my book on the train this morning, it wasn't even sad!
sdyer I am rather windy too and burping a lot, isn't pregnancy delightful?
Sophie yes I am planning a home birth all being well. The midwives at my first were not intrusive at all actually, just sat in a corner making notes and drinking tea while DH and I got on with things and didn't get involved until I was fully dilated. Hospitals make me tense, as does the thought of being driven to hospital while in labour I feel much more relaxed and in control at home and as the risk of adverse outcomes is no higher for low risk 2nd timers birthing at home plus there is less chance of intervention I will stick with that if at all possible. Can see why some would be horrified at the idea though! I think midwives are pushing it more after the research a few years ago as it is cheaper for the NHS than a hospital birth.
I am going to call the midwives on Thursday I think as I'm not working. Had an awkward situation at work today talking about staffing requirements and recruitment for next year in the context of a colleague going off on mat leave next month, I won't tell them until after my scan as I would hate to have to deal with that if anything goes wrong, but I did feel awful keeping it from them! I also caved and told my mum yesterday, trying to keep it all low key and not a big deal, she cried. Not helpful.
Did those on their 3rd or 4th find the second labour easier / quicker / less painful?
