Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 14th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 29th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Tentatively popping in to say hello... I finally succumbed to the digital this morning and still upduffed hurrah!

mountaingirl01 · 11/11/2014 12:37

Just read back. ..oh Ness congratulations! He is yummy

cookielove · 11/11/2014 12:50

Oh ness he is lovely :) newborn hugs and squeezes are the best!

freshstart4us · 11/11/2014 13:12

Ness he is just absolutely, completely and totally beautiful. Hope they can get the tongue-tie sorted out soon, must be very confusing for the poor wee chap.

And WELCOME mountain!!!!

La I fully expect in about 2 weeks' time for you to be reporting how you are, rather than eating your words about wishing the sickness, but quite the reverse. Wink

ChatEnOeuf · 11/11/2014 13:22

Woohoo! Good to see you here Mountain :)

Still sickly here, reassuringly so.

Gorgeous photo of your boy there, Ness. Will they snip his tie or do you have to do the whole 'wait until your nipples fall off' first? Hope he gets the hang of feeding soon for you.

laurenamium · 11/11/2014 13:39

Congratulations mountain GrinThanks

JuniDD · 11/11/2014 13:46

Aw ness baby James is so sweet! I managed to calm DD down for a few minutes by whispering I wanted to look at the pic of baby James (was on phone before). Oh man, the hand expressing colostrum is a pain (literally). I feel for you. I had to have someone do it for me in recovery. You'll get there with him, stay topless! (I was topless for the first few days in hospital. A LOT Of people got an eyeful of the Juni-rack!)

love to you all

laurenamium · 11/11/2014 14:03

DD is tired and accepting cuddles, so we are having 10 minutes on the sofa before the mw. It feels like such a luxury to have cuddles from her now she's getting older! Enjoy all these baby cuddles while they're too small to tell you to get off Grin

Pisghetti · 11/11/2014 14:08

Oh Lauren I miss cuddles so much. Now he is a lanky teenager and his father has indoctrinated him that any sort of affectionate behaviour is To Be Avoided (I thought I was winning the battle but apparently not) there are no more cuddles at all Sad

FurryScoob · 11/11/2014 14:54

Congratulations mountain

Anyone who's done this before what does the mucus plug look like? Sorry if its TMI but as we spent loads of time discussing pant snot on the jsing thread I just thought I'd ask. Is it like the ultimate pant snot?

ZylaB · 11/11/2014 15:06

Grats mountain :)

I dunno furry is it one of those things you really shouldn't put into Google images?!

Ok, I think we're nearly sorted with baby stuff, miles in advance but I fret if I don't feel organised. We need for the nursery furniture to come and to decorate it etc, also want to order a chair but it's out of stock, but that's ok coz I know which we want. I think we're just missing any sort of creams and lotions etc, what do we need for cleaning and or bathing etc? Do you really have to use cotton wool for nappy changes, or can we just use water wipes (wipes just seem easier?). Do I need a baby first aid kit? What goes in it?

Thanks in advance to those who know cos I'm clueless :)

Pisghetti · 11/11/2014 15:27

Sorry Furry I didn't have a show as such. I just had the midwife complaining about clearing muck out of the way while trying to break my waters - I was off my face on gas and air so didn't think to look! I expect it is blood streaked mucus in one or more large blobs like overactive pant snot.

Zyla I plan to use wet wipes and sudocrem for nappy changes, cotton wool for washing faces/bottoms in the morning, using a squeeze of baby bath in the bath (small babies don't really need shampoo etc for a while) with a big soft sponge. I never had a first aid kit and didn't need one - no idea what you'd put in one! I had a steady supply of calpol from the age they can take it and ashton and parsons powders for teething.

freshstart4us · 11/11/2014 15:36

Zyla firstly may I say cotton wool balls and water for nappy change are definitely my recommendation. I was insistent and DH has always said how fantastic it was because DD never, ever got nappy rash (except for one incident which made me completely furious shortly after she started nursery), whereas he remembered his DS having it frequently, and he and his ex used wipes. Using wipes occasionally whilst out and about and for initial clean-up of explosive poos is fine, but always wash off with water and cotton wool asap and your LO will be much better off. Also recommend Bepanthene nappy cream, you can just slap it on in quantity whereas Sudocream apparently needs to be carefully applied in a thin layer, which all seemed like too much hard work to us!

We only generally use water for bathing (DD has sensitive skin like her daddy so we avoid still avoid bath products) but when she had a bit of cradle cap under her very thick hair we needed Dentinox shampoo. Baby doesn't smell particularly "babyish" without powders and creams but for us it was actually better that way. Also I stopped using anything but Vaseline body moisturizer, as creams and perfumes on mum can be confusing for bfeeding and also irritate when you spend a lot of time skin to skin.

freshstart4us · 11/11/2014 15:42

Ooh yes, what Pis says about Ashton and Parsons for teething and Calpol!

Furry also as Pis says, show for me was just a large clop of reddy brown pant snot. My waters never broke properly though, I had what was called a "hind leak" and mw had to break them with a crochet hook thingey before I started pushing so possibly mine was less than some.

HungryHorace · 11/11/2014 15:42

We used water and cotton wool for each baby's first few weeks, then went onto Johnson's Extra Sensitive wipes.

DD has never had nappy rash (beyond a bit of redness when her teething is awful) and so far neither has DS. We tend to use Sudocrem, or Bepanthan / Metanium yellow when the teething kicks in.

Johnson's products in the bath too. I have eczema, but so far no sign on either child. We only bathe 2 ish times a week though so as not to dry the skin out.

freshstart4us · 11/11/2014 15:45

Ugh... 8+5 today, still feeling pretty rubbish, although bizarrely even though I'm feeling sicky I keep wondering if I'm actually pregnant and want to take another test! Almost spent a fiver in Boots but managed to walk away from the pee sticks. Weird.

But have finally got my booking in (1 Dec!) and scan (8 Dec!) appointments. Hooray!

freshstart4us · 11/11/2014 15:49

First Aid kit wise, there is one thing I would suggest - it's a little blue nasal aspirator tube thingey that we bought from Sainsbury's for about 4 quid, one that you actually suck gently from the other end on - sounds gross, but is very effective, much more so than the bulb ones which just don't seem to work at all. I can't remember the name, I think there are lots of them on the market now, but would def recommend getting one.

HungryHorace · 11/11/2014 15:57

Buy a load of internet cheapies, Fresh...will allow you to POAS to your heart's content!

teejayem · 11/11/2014 16:02

Ness! He is a heartbreaker!! Big squishes for you both xx

Welcome & Grats Mountain!

Got told by my GP that basically the rash could be anything Hmm and I was probably having some kind of antigen reaction to tiny-Tee and it wasn't anything to worry about. Which is reassuring, yet has done nothing for my itching :( I'm just hoping Tiny Tee doesn't inherit Mr Tee's zillion allergies. Or that his 'Special' Seed has somehow given them to me....

freshstart4us · 11/11/2014 16:15

Hungry that is a BLOODY good idea. 30 for 2.60, arriving Thursday, happy with that. LOL

freshstart4us · 11/11/2014 16:18

tee so very, very helpful to be told you're vaguely allergic to your inhabitant, and that there's nothing that can be done. Confused

ZylaB · 11/11/2014 16:25

Thanks for the advice guys! :)

ChatEnOeuf · 11/11/2014 16:37

That's helpful, Tee Hmm

Stuff to put in a first aid box:
Calpol (generic supermarket stuff is best but ask the pharmacist for a syringe as the spoons are a PITA for the tinies).
Ibuprofen (ditto)
Nappy creams - sudocrem for generic slightly red bum. Bepanthen is greasy, good for dry rashes; metanium is chalky and better for wet rashes.
Vaseline - good for dribbly chins and smear it on the bum to help clean the first meconium poos off.
Thermometer (under the arm one, the forehead ones just guess, baby ear canals are too small to be reliable).
Tiny nail clippers
Snot aspirator (most useful for those born Sept-Feb)
Bonjela (not right away)

I used water and cotton wool until DD was about 3 weeks, then Pampers sensitive - never had a problem with nappy rash.

HungryHorace · 11/11/2014 16:37

Glad to have been of service, Fresh! That's a bargain. :-)

Just take Piriton, Tee. Otherwise you'll go bonkers. Itching is like a form of torture.

ChatEnOeuf · 11/11/2014 16:38

And the mucus plug was, for me, like I'd sneezed into the toilet and the world had ended. Great big bloody, globby mess. She arrived an hour after it appeared.
