ohmjh- my mum has taken calling "not to see if the baby has come but to just check how you are". EVERY DAY! Hmm

catg83 · 09/11/2014 20:21

EDD isn't even until Thursday and everybody in my family is always late. I have a feeling I might have 2 1/2 weeks of this!

Kantha · 09/11/2014 21:00

Drat - I just wrote a very long birth story down on a iPhone and it's disappeared. Angry It will have to wait for another day.

Caz - your sister sounds like me with my first, right down to the post c sec infection. It was a really tough recovery but my second and third have been completely different so it doesn't always have to be like this.

WorkFreeWannabe · 09/11/2014 21:15

OhMJH, Good news it's not a uti.

Not only are our babies in sync Cat, I think our mums are as well. 'Just calling' to see how I am I highly annoying.

Everyone has been calling and messaging since Saturday and I'm finding it hard to bite my tongue and not scream at the next caller. I'm going to change my Whatsapp status to 'Unavailable' so hopefully people will get the message.

Please God let me be early so as there's only so much more I can take.

Just back and home from our last weekend away from London (3 hours’ drive away,) had a glorious time and lots of dancing, which actually seemed to hold the bh at bay. They are back with a vengeance now though - seriously strong, for over an hour. Still 9 days to go and ds was very late, no plug or waters gone but how would I know this was it? I didn't realise it last time till they stuck monitors on me and told me I was in labour, so worried I'll miss the start again..

amy83firsttimer · 09/11/2014 23:00

There's an app for that! You use it to track your BH / contractions.

OP posts:
amy83firsttimer · 09/11/2014 23:05

I've just downloaded the app. It.doesn't.say whether you're in labour or not but it would help you to track the contractions so you could easily see if you get to the magic 3 in ten minutes.

Cat & workfree - my Mums the same. She was also insisting she be told straight away so she could come and have newborn cuddles. Luckily the hospital visiting rules veto that one. We've told parents that we'll let them know when I go in and then our phones will be going into airplane mode until baby's arrived.

Amy - my worry is that I won't notice the contractions. I realised I was having some (not sure if BH or real) earlier only because of a slight ache and feeling things tighten. I've driven myself to distraction with the worry I might be one of those who has silent labours Blush.

pinkgirlythoughts · 10/11/2014 08:20

In our house it's MIL who's joined the 'any news yet?' club- I've had a text or phone call every day since Friday, and I'm not even due until this Friday! I want to say 'yes, a few actually, on and off,' but then she'll be so excited she'll never leave me alone! Grin apparently GMIL was on the phone to her yesterday asking if there was any news yet too.

amy83firsttimer · 10/11/2014 08:52

Had sister yesterday and SIL this morning. Due today so I imagine I'll get another few on the phone / texting. The funny thing is that I think they're more impatient than I am. The baby will come out when it's ready.

Annarose2014 · 10/11/2014 09:02

DHs family have been pretty irritating with the texts. There's a lot of them, so we may get three random texts a day. DH has started to text rather narkily back.

Am still bleeding since sweep on Friday. Went into what basically must have been early labour yesterday with a lot of discomfort from 3.30pm onwards, but of course as soon as I went to bed with the electric blanket on last night it stopped completely. Bump is quite sore this morning with spikey pains but I don't know if that "counts". Yesterday it was all around my lower back and hips and even down my thighs - it felt like I was wearing cycling shorts too small.

But this pain today is very much upper bump and not too big a deal.

So its a bit tedious. At least I have my induction booked for Wednesday as this could drag on for days!

pinkgirlythoughts · 10/11/2014 09:02

I know what you mean about impatient family, Amy. I almost don't want to give anyone a false hope by telling them about any aches and pains I've had!

pinkgirlythoughts · 10/11/2014 09:04

oh, Anna, that sounds crappy! At least you have an end date in sight now, even if things don't kick off on their own beforehand.

Thisisimpossible · 10/11/2014 09:20

I've been humming and haaing about posting this because I'm not a doctor and the last thing I want to do is cause unnecessary worry when it may be totally unfounded. Anna did they tell you to expect the bleeding and stabby upper bump pains? I have no experience of this obviously, but is it worth a call to your midwife just to check? Mine questioned me quite closely a couple of weeks ago when I mentioned that the top of my bump had gone numb and those were the two things she asked me about. Just a thought. It's probably nothing but it just resonated with me because of the other day. Obviously I have no idea how much bleeding you're experiencing or how bad the pains are and they may well have told you to expect all this. I just thought I'd mention it. Blush

ladydolly · 10/11/2014 09:29

Mil was a maternity nurse so she's been trying to get info from dp about my progress, asking if I've had increased BH etc... Dp wisely keeping quiet. DM is nearly as bad, she told me if I don't text her every day she'll worry even though I told her we want to be left alone and will just announce arrival not when I go into labour. I've told her she'll have to go with no news is good news!!

BH got quite uncomfortable and regular last night but disappeared during the night. 4 days over and counting!!

catg83 · 10/11/2014 10:05

Anna- that sounds very uncomfortable. Virtual hugs.

Nothing to report here apart from DIY! Fitted unit from round the bed demolished yesterday so the co sleeper cot will be able to fit. Plan is to put the cot together today and then it will all be ridiculously real!

Strawberryfield12 · 10/11/2014 10:34

My DH family is quite large as well and when after 3D scan there started tearing apart of the baby about who's mouth, ears etc she had I told DH to deal with his family himself and not to tell me anything what they have said etc.as I found it quite uncomfortable. And I would deal with my own family. I am SO greatful to myself now! I do hear from the context of phone calls that they are asking smthg about me, but as far as nobody's proding myself, I don't care. As a result nobody has yet asked me if there are any news on the baby. Well, saying that I still have 2 weeks till EDD. Plenty of time to annoy me completely Hmm

TwigletFiend · 10/11/2014 10:48

Morning all!

39 weeks today. Hips hurt. Fanjo hurts. Back hurts. Can't sleep. Stomach gippy. So basically, I want this baby out now! I cannot imagine how those of you who are overdue are feeling - sending you as much Brew and Cake as you can take!!

Annarose2014 · 10/11/2014 11:07

don't worry thisisimpossible I think its fine. Bleeding is possilby a misleading term - its discharge thats pink, definately not my waters. Still only panty-liner worthy. I think its bloody show.

I think now that uterus is fluttering/mildly contracting but no great excitement, though it is uncomfortable to change position and move in general. Some back pain has returned but nothing major. I might ring them later if I get impatient concerned, but this feels like early days to me.

Oddly, my appetite has completely gone since yesterday afternoon. Must force myself to eat something in case something suddenly kicks off and I'm left starving. I had a good sleep though! And also had another hour just there now, so am feeling suprisingly well rested!

Thisisimpossible · 10/11/2014 12:18

So pleased to hear that Anna Smile How exciting, it certainly sounds like something's kicking off. Sorry for being a worrywart. Xx

OhMjh · 10/11/2014 12:33

Morning all, hope everyone is well! Had an extra midwife apt just now because of my rib pain and I had a sweep! They don't usually do them before 40 weeks but my midwife said there's no harm in trying given how uncomfortable I am and to my surprise she could get 2 fingers in, could feel her head and said she thinks it was very successful! Weird to think I could have a baby in the next few days!

FYI for anyone who's up for old wives tales - a woman in my NCT class ate 7 pineapples in 4 days and had her baby! May be completely coincidental but could be worth a shot!

Thehedgehogsong · 10/11/2014 12:43

Wow 7 pineapples in 4 days!! I remember my lips bleeding from the acid in pineapples last pregnancy as I ate so much. Can't stand pineapples now!

17 days to due date for me...!

Strawberryfield12 · 10/11/2014 12:51

Not too sure about pineapples, I had a few weeks of eating them in May, simply bcs fancied some. And then to my horror found on inet they can cause premature birth etc. nothing happened, 38+1 today. Apparently you have to eat loads (LOADS) of them to get any joy. Maybe 2 per day is the number!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 10/11/2014 13:12

Twiglet I couldn't have put better myself how I am feeling - snap but am 37+4 today but know the end is in sight with c section booked unless something changes at midwife appointment tomorrow or consultant app next Tue.

In-laws are booked in to come n stay n help with ds as will be school run did manage to delay them by 3days as they feel they need to be here 5 days beforehand!! All our family are 200miles away. My mum is booked to come and help after baby when husband at work he has split 2weeks annual leave as only gets stat paternity pay which is rubbish.

Sazhoopz · 10/11/2014 13:36

Only had my Mum & SIL text today, but did send an email yesterday to all my Aunts & cousins about Xmas and said there was no news and wasn't likely to be for a while so hopefully that will keep them at bay for a couple of days.

Taking Ds for his flu vaccine this afternoon & daydreaming about my waters going whilst at the drs! At the very least hoping the walk will encourage something
