Hi all, mind if I join in? First (and probably last) baby due on 22nd November. 2 & 1/2 weeks left at work, although it's not so much work as turn up and pretend I'm being productive so they pay me!

Tired, heavy, uncomfortable, missing sleep, and the ability to walk normally but eating cake and angel delight like they're going out of fashion - well, there's calcium in the milk for the angel delight so it's kinda healthy for baby, right? Grin

Huge congratulations to all the ladies who've had their gorgeous babies.

WorkFreeWannabe · 28/10/2014 18:04

Congratulations Happy. Glad to hear you're both doing well Thanks

Had my midwife/doctor appointment today. Baby is now fully engaged and the doctor expects me to go anytime in the next 2 weeks. I really hope he's right!

Thehedgehogsong · 28/10/2014 18:14

Congratulations happypotamus!! I hope feeding gets better once your milk is in :)

strawberry I'm at the end of the month too, I'll still be here I'm sure!

amy83firsttimer · 28/10/2014 18:16

Welcome DrBlondie - how are things going for you?

Do you know what sex your baby is? If you scroll back a couple of pages there's a list with due dates etc (make sure you get the latest version) that you can add yourself to.

DrBlondie · 28/10/2014 19:15

I feel official now I've added myself to the list!

Thanks Amy, I'm as well as I guess any of us are. Does anyone get to 8+ months and not feel tired and uncomfortable? My mum reasons it's so labour seems almost a relief when it starts- I hope she's right!

Much wanted daughter currently wiggling and trampoling on my bladder Grin

weeonion · 28/10/2014 19:43

And then there was 4!!!! Congrats happy - fab news!!!!!

Petal26 · 28/10/2014 19:56

Congrats happy Smile

Been for a growth scan today as requested by midwife yesterday (38+2 today). All fine, sonographer predicted about 7lb at the moment (so already bigger than DD who was nearly 2 weeks late!) so she wasn't concerned about him being too small. Got to see some fingers, a nose, and a yawn Smile

Kantha · 28/10/2014 20:12

Congratulations Happy!! Wine Hope the feeding issues are quickly resolved.

Anna - great news about your dad. Now try and look after yourself for the next few days/weeks. Thanks

I saw the MW today. She did the exam and sweep. She reckons I am 80% effaced and 3cm dilated Grin. I am very 'favourable'. Also the sweep didn't hurt at all. She said I was v brave, but that's because I couldn't feel anything.

Since then I have been feeling decidedly crampy and achey with some discharge/mucus.

I would very much like MIL not to know when I go into labour. However, seeing as she is staying, and kindly drove me to the MW today as my car is in the garage there is no hiding it from her. In fact she rather loudly trilled to FIL when we got home from the MW, "She's 3cm and imminent!" It felt like a scene between Miranda and her mother in the sitcom.

Never mind. It's all coming from a good place.

DH, his parents and I are all engaged in a debate now about whether the baby is coming tonight and whether DH needs to handover work this evening. I am feeling very much like public property!

Arkkorox · 28/10/2014 20:39

Hello!

One slightly still in shock and a little overwhelmed mum to be here... we only found out today that my due date is on the 24th of november.

Its still very much sinking in espeicaly as I only found out I was pregnant on wednesday last week!

excitedforbaba · 28/10/2014 21:15

Glad you found us ark
how did it go breaking the news to your mum?

Kantha · 28/10/2014 21:38

Gosh Ark! That's exciting. What made you first think you might be pregnant? Welcome to the thread.

Arkkorox · 28/10/2014 21:44

Thanks

Could have gone better with mum, she went a bit mental at me but I was totaly expecting it. Luckily my dad is being awesome.

First thought I might be when I thought I was way more bloated than I usualy get and had a leaky nipple!! Thats pretty much been it for symptoms!

WorkFreeWannabe · 28/10/2014 21:52

Welcome Dr Blondie

Great news kantha. All sounds positive

Congratulations Ark and welcome!! I had been following you on the other thread. Your Dad sounds fantastic and your Mum will hopefully come around soon. I'm sure she will melt when she sees his or hers little face Grin

Hi all, congratulations on the arrivals!
Ark-Wow, what a surprise, I've not seen your other thread but will go look now!

Good luck Kantha! Glad your sweep didn't hurt..I had one last Fri and I nearly cried, dd2 (7) was peeping round the curtain too so I had to try and be brave.

Annarose2014 · 28/10/2014 23:37

Ok this is a really stupid newbie question, but what exactly is a sweep?

Arkkorox · 29/10/2014 03:38

I'm another newbie who would Also like to know the anewer to that ( and about 60 million other questions buzzing round my head right now)

One of them being... What the hell do I do when baby gets here! Argh!

amy83firsttimer · 29/10/2014 04:02

Hi ark - I've been following your other thread. Well done on speaking to your parents.

When baby comes the midwife can't let you go home til you've fed the baby, done a nappy change and a bath.

You'll also get regular visits from the midwife and health visitor for the first few days / weeks. Let them know that you've not had classes etc and if all else fails there's us!!! (and your mum who I'm sure will come round)

OP posts:
amy83firsttimer · 29/10/2014 04:04

A sweep is when the midwife uses a finger or two to feel the cervix and give it a wiggle to try and get things moving.
