cinnamon I'm really sorry to hear about your cat it's so sad.

I bought some maternity jeans in Matalan yesterday they are under bump skinny legs and feel really comfy. They are quite long leg which is good for me because I normally struggle getting jeans with a long enough leg. In store at Matalan they had 2 pairs of jeans, 2 maxi dresses, 3 jumpers, 1 black dress and a few tops but you can now order on line and they have more choice online.

I also bought a jumper dress in Sainsburys that is fitted to the bust then flares out so it will ok over a bump.

Hidingthefear · 05/11/2014 08:20

awww cinnamon that's really sad :( I remember seeing one of my kittens at my back gate dead but no idea what killed him and he was only about 12 months old. we still had both his brother and sister until recently but now we only have one as Alice went missing about 6 weeks ago. We had Jack cremated in a group cremation at Vets for Pets as I didn't want his ashes back and our garden is all imprinted concreate so no option for burial. When I lived with my Grandma we burried all our pets in the garden though and none of them were ever dug up. (1 dog, 5 cats, 6 rabbits and 2 hamsters, i dread to think what the people who live there now would think if they came to plant any flowers :/ )

mswibble new look's maternity wear is really comfy, I've got a pair of their jeans on now :) they were £6 in the online sale.

kismac · 05/11/2014 08:59

Aww cinnamon, really sorry to hear about your cat. Hope you and the family are doing ok.

ChickenMe · 05/11/2014 09:47

Cinammon so sorry about your cat. Rip little cat. They are part of the family and its devastating when they go. We see our cat as our child. I don't know how I would cope without her.

AnniaFausta · 05/11/2014 10:52

Cinammon, I'm sorry for your loss.

Freedom, I want to have a bedside crib for the first six months (or as near as), but then move baby gradually into their own room and a big crib. I expect there'll be some movement between rooms, but it would be nice to establish some space that is the child's own early on. Plus it's a good place to keep a changing table and store clothes ;)

I'm going shopping for maternity clothes with my mum on Friday - given I've not really got a proper bump yet, goodness knows how much use it'll be, but at least I'll know which places do nice things when the bump really begins to show!

kismac · 05/11/2014 12:01

Had my 16 week appointment and first consultant appointment today. Really not very exciting. Was in and out really quickly. Got to go back and see consultant in 5 weeks and I'm to have a heart ultrasound for my heart murmur and blood test cause my mum is diabetic. Total anti climax.

FreedomHuntress · 05/11/2014 12:01

I just found that sleeping with my newborn right on me settled us both. It is so good for them, in so many ways (skin contact, breathing, closeness). And great for ease of breast-feeding. Anyway! It worked beautifully for us. But then I am a complete hippy attachment parenting type.

Have a great time shopping! :) I liked Mamas and Papas, last time round. I don't think I need much this time, even though I am pregnant the opposite end of the year now. Hoping my chunky winter coat will see me through winter. Maybe one new pair of maternity jeans would be good. I wore mine after I had DS as they were so comfy. Plus I'll wait til the 20 week scan to get anything new anyway . Feels like ages away!

Morning, just catching up on the last couple of days' chat - and wanted to throw my two-penneth in...

BrixtonBunny - I suffered with back/hip pain with first pregnancy and pushed to be referred to a physio who didn't help at all. It never really went away after birth and so this time, I have mentioned it again to my midwife, who said she has seen best results through osteopathy. So I saw an osteopath last week who diagnosed the problem (knock-on effect of over-curved spine, which will get worse as I get bigger) - he did some deep tissue massage and gave me some exercises. I have another apt this week but can honestly say - to my amazement - I am already feeling less pain. Similarly to you, I am not so bad moving around, but it hurts when I get out of bed or from sitting for a long period. I haven't even been all that brilliant at doing the exercises but having an awareness of where the problem lies means I am very aware of my posture and I think that is making a huge difference.

Osteopath also recommended strengthening core muscles - pilates particularly beneficial. Regular classes are not something I can fit in, but I have found someone who can give me a couple of private lessons and some exercises to continue at home - I have my first on the 14th Nov.

I am having to pay for all this privately (am in the North West and am paying £35-40 per session for both the osteopathy and the pilates) but I figure it's money well spent to make sure I can still walk properly in 3 months time!!!

TinyTear · 05/11/2014 12:03

Freedom, my DD stayed in our room until she was 14 months old... and many nights i would prop myself up safely and wear a dressing gown - no covers and she would sleep in my arms...

FreedomHuntress · 05/11/2014 12:10

Tiny, yes, that's how we were. Bliss! :)

FreedomHuntress · 05/11/2014 12:15

berberana, that's so great. Am glad you are feeling better.
And yes, sounds like a wise investment.

Stuntman · 05/11/2014 14:21

I had a consultant appointment today and she did a scan but it only lasted about thirty seconds and she wouldn't even look for the gender. Oh well, I'll just have to wait another five weeks for my 20 week scan.

Lauren82000 · 05/11/2014 15:32

Had my 16w midwife appointment today she asked me why I was there if I saw the consultant yesterday and I said they just asked me questions and didn't do anything else. (She grumbled about them not checking my bp) I got my results back on my bloods- I am disease free and rubella immune which is nice to know. She had a hard time chasing the baby down, who was being very active and wouldn't hold still so the heartbeat was everywhere and loads of shuffling interference noise in the background. So it wasn't particularly clear. She still managed to count bpm eventually though. Asked her about my headaches and dizziness she told me to stay away from chocolate, sweets and fast release carbs. Something about raising my bp and causing headaches. So guess I'll have to live with it can't live without chocolate and sweeties. Plus sugar is in almost everything!

Since I have been back at work though my hip is killing me. Feels like a trapped nerve. Sharp stabbing pains accompanied by a dull ache. Will not be happy if that has started so early. It was my hips and knees last time and had to go to physio and it didn't do anything even the exercises were naff.

BrixtonBunny · 05/11/2014 17:56

Berberana I've booked an osteopath appt for tomorrow (£50 a pop but so worth it if she'll help!!) and as of Sunday I'm going to start pregnancy yoga classes (which I figure I can supplement with YouTube videos). Really hope it will help, I'm feeling positive as it seems we suffer from the same thing and if it's helping you hopefully it will help me! Smile

18 weeks today

Freedom we'd like to co-sleep but need to look into how we can do it safely as DP has a chronic pain condition which means he often takes heavy painkillers or sleeping pills before bed. Guess baby could sleep on my side but need to figure out how to stop baby falling out! If you're ever bored and want to share your advice I would love to hear it! Otherwise we were thinking of co-sleeper crib for nights when DP takes pills.

londonlivvy · 05/11/2014 18:23

we didn't cosleep and don't intend to this time. Whilst it's great for some, it wouldn't work for me as I'm an incredibly light sleeper and just wouldn't get any sleep. A Moses basket by the bed was a good compromise. But each to his own. If it works for you, go for it.

I know someone who has their mattress on the floor and the baby is on the outside of the mum (nowhere near v heavy sleeper dad) and there's a swimming noodle under the sheet to stop him rolling out. But even if baby were to slide off the bed it's not far. Possibly a solution, Brixton, unless you have a c section, in which case getting up and down would be tricky I think.

cinnamongreyhound · 05/11/2014 18:45

I like the idea of co sleeping but it's the years and years afterwards of having a toddler and child in your bed that puts me off. Plus I like my cuddles with dh which I imagine would be tricky with a baby in the middle!

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I took her to the vets today and had a little cry while there ds2 wanted to see her and I'm quite open with them so I let him and he seemed surprised it just looked like Wendy! He's told everyone we've met today that his cat died and that his mummy has a baby in her tummy and he's going to be really big when it comes out :( :)

Ar cinnamon I did cry a tiny bit earlier about your cat just cos I love cats so much.

Have come on to moan. I still feel and am being sick. In fact, after a lull it has come back with a vengeance and lasts all day. And at night I get acid reflux so it's like burp and acidy sick comes up. So so rank. It's triggered by pretty much everything except fruit, veg, rice, fish, poultry. Urgh!!!

Is anyone else still suffering? I'm 18+4

FizzyBubbly · 05/11/2014 20:51

Sorry to hear about your cat Cinnamon, must have been such a shock

Hope you come out the other side soon ChickenMe, hopefully it's just making its last appearance before disappearing for good.

I'm another one with painful hips and pelvis - I've been referred to physio as my SPD has started to flare up already. Started off with NHS physio last time which was such a waste of time that I ended up forking out to go private which involved clicking my pelvis back into place, followed by a massage then acupuncture. Amazing! DH has since added me to his works healthcare scheme so once my referral comes through I'll be able to have my private sessions again but I be paying £45 for 30mins Shock Grin

Had my 16wk midwife appointment yesterday and saw consultant today. Not really keen on my midwife, but that's probable because I'm comparing her to my old one who was absolutely lovely. Pretty standard appointment. Consultant confirmed I won't be able to give birth at the MLU due to my PPH last time but if everything's ok up to the birth I can be under midwife care whilst at the main hospital and that I'd be able to use a birthing pool if available. So kind of a compromise. We get am extra scan at 32wks too because of my thyroid which is good!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/11/2014 20:55

Ds2 was my latest at 16weeks ChickenMe. But my friend had nausea in the evening until she was 7months pg :(

FreedomHuntress · 05/11/2014 21:12

Brixton, we have a massive bed, so DH can have ample space. He's also a deep sleeper, so the co-sleeping really has been perfect for us, as even if DS and I were up feeding or whatnot, DH slept right through. In the early days we used this bed rail thingy and it gave me peace of mind, though I don't think DS was ever even close to falling out of bed.

The idea of both my children in bed with us is actually my idea of happiness. Cuddles and snuggles galore.

Sorry those feeling poorly and/or achey are not so well, hope it passes soon.

ChickenMe · 05/11/2014 21:45

Oh dear cinammon seven months, that will be me.

Good news is I have just discovered chips are a safe food and actually ease nausea. Yay!

Kelbells · 05/11/2014 21:47

Hi ladies, Brixton, we co slept with DS - we took one side off of his cot and lashed it to our bed with cable ties (firmly stuffed any gaps with towels). We plan to do the same this time. No risk of falling out, DH landing on him and I got loads of sleep when I fed at night - 'twas awesome!

TheBooMonster · 05/11/2014 22:10

chicken I'm mostly living on chips, olives and malteasers, everything else makes me feel so unwell, even with the tablets :S
