Just Shagging Grads thread No.13 for upduffed viroids!

Nessalina · 06/10/2014 07:46

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 13th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed! Grin

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 29th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy! Grin

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids! Smile

chat I'm so sorry, hopefully you can get some answers as to why it's happening soon hugs

nes you should have dominoes pizza, bbq base, garlic butter, mushrooms and (assuming you're not veggie) pepperoni and bacon.

minimooo · 21/10/2014 20:15

chat I'm so sorry to hear that lovie. Take care of yourself and hope you get some answers xx Flowers

splodge I'm also still feeling sick (13.5 weeks) and now am also experiencing the joys of heartburn too! I'm off to the doctors tomorrow to get more anti-sickness meds (aren't they great lauren?) and hopefully some Gaviscon or something too. But I'm definitely feeling better now than I was a few weeks ago, so really hoping that the fabled "second trimester glow" might be on it's way... Hmm Hope you start to feel better soon. I would second lauren's suggestion of getting some anti-sickness meds if you haven't already!

Sorry to hear about your driving test min, she sounds like a horrible examiner! Hope you get someone nicer next time.

Has anyone used reusable nappies? I really like the theory behind them but don't know if they would be too much of a faff to use as first time parents who have no idea how to look after a baby and, more importantly, whether they are better or worse for baby?

laurenamium · 21/10/2014 20:29

Anti sickness meds are amazing yes Grin they help me sleep on a night too, DP is having to get up with DD as I'm not waking! it's about time he took a turn anyway

couldbeanyone · 21/10/2014 20:47

So sorry chat x

Mini yes I used reusable nappies with dd and will use them again with this baby. Although don't use them until meuconium (cannot spell this!) poo is all gone, get disposables for first few days or you will ruin the washables. Get enough so you don't have to wash everyday (about 20 is about right) and depending on what you get, may need different ones for night time as some aren't really suitable overnight when they are bigger because they are not absorbent enough. For overnight I'd suggest a nappy plus wrap rather than one of the all in one or pocket nappies.

couldbeanyone · 21/10/2014 20:50

Whether better for the baby or not I don't know, but the washables at least aren't full of chemicals which could be a consideration, and aren't being put into landfill...

wilmabedrock · 21/10/2014 21:16

Which brand would you recommend Could? I meant to give them a go last time but had such a horrible time after the birth that I never really got around to it and then was just used to disposables. Do clothes still fit ok? I thought I might try and use them in the house this time round and then use disposables when out and about.

minimooo · 21/10/2014 21:54

thanks could that's really helpful Smile I'll second wil's question as to which brand you'd recommend - there seems to be loads out there.

splodge77 · 21/10/2014 22:28

I'm thinking of doing same Wilma, reuse ables at home disposables when out. I'll prob do disposables for first few months coz there's so much changing & the exploding poos are a bit scary Wink. Do the anti sickness meds stop the nausea? I'm not actually vomming just feel sick 24/7.

minimooo · 21/10/2014 22:45

splodge I find they do help with the nausea (it doesn't disappear but just helps to ease it) not sure if that's the general experience though... I've been taking Avomine if that helps. A side effect is that they make me really drowsy, but I'd rather that than the pukey feeling! lauren is it the same for you?

JuniDD · 21/10/2014 23:05

hello. Sorry to chat, hope you get some answers soon.

Sorry about the driving too min

We are in hospital for the next five days. Baby has infection and I think I do too. I am on so much medication I don't know what half of it is for. And then they are making heavy weather about whether I need IV fluids...I was in an antibiotic drip so not really getting the problem!

BabyJ doing well, I think. My poor girl had a lumbar puncture, x-ray and three attempts at a canula in her heel today. She's a trooper. Can't wait to get her home.. five days minimum. Please send positive thoughts our way!

JuniDD · 21/10/2014 23:27

Just overheard a conversation... my baby is the scourge of the post-natal ward. Sad She's LOUD. Poor lady that's just come in. Wink

KatoPotato · 21/10/2014 23:41

Oh team Juni. You're both doing great, what a pair of troopers. Sending all my positive vibes.

I was also in hospital for 6nightz, it's not fun but is the best place to be unfortunately, how is the hospital re your DH visiting hours? Reality hits when you get home so embrace the horrid food and both of you get up to fighting speed.

Oh DS was the scourge of the ward too, he was called 'the bad wee baby that doesn't stop crying!' by a particularly poisonous old bastard hca!

Here for you x

wilmabedrock · 22/10/2014 06:37

'bad wee baby', may have punched that person in the face Kato! Grin

Oh Juni, what a nightmare for you. The poor wee mite going through all that. Hope you both are better soon.

I also have a loud child. People often comment on it. She gets it from her dad Wink .

couldbeanyone · 22/10/2014 06:55

Oh Juni poor you and baby bet you can't wait to get home.

Nappies - day time bum genius, we had v3 expect they are into v4 or more now. Pocket nappies so you stuff the absorbent bit inside and there are two parts to that so you can alter as they get bigger. Also these go from birth to potty (just, may need extra boosters for big wees near the end or use a night nappy instead). V easy to use even for sceptics as they go on like a disposable. Bumgenius also do an all in one, don't know what they are like but will probably take ages to dry. Night time we have tots bots bamboozles, with a mother ease wrap. Now these are fantastic extremely absorbent, to be honest as long as you don't mind putting the two layers on each time they would also be great for day time. The nappy part goes on like a disposable and the wrap poppers on around it. Bit like the old terry towelling but easier. Two parts definitely better for containing big wees!
Clothes wise they do have a big bum in reusables so may need to size up in some but didn't find this a problem.
The test will be new baby and which nappies stand the test of being used on second baby! By the way dd went to nursery in her reusables and this worked fine with the bum genius as so easy to put on.
Recommend flush able liners for the poo!

RPopz · 22/10/2014 08:18

Oh Juni you and babyJ are going through the mill a bit! Is Mr J allowed to stay at all? Love and get well hugs to you all. Hooray for noisy babies Grin Grin

minimooo · 22/10/2014 08:44

Thanks could that's really helpful! It's mind boggling how many different types there are so it's great to have some recommendations. Also, wil if you decide to use them, it's worth checking your local authority website - mine will give us £50 if we decide to go down the reusables route.

Sorry to hear you're having such a time of it juni. Sending you all hugs and get well soon vibes Flowers

laurenamium · 22/10/2014 08:54

Oh Juni I hope they let you escape soon and that you and minijuni are feeling better soon too! Do we have a name? Understand if you don't want to say what with it being a public forum and all Grin

laurenamium · 22/10/2014 08:57

Posted too soon!

I went to see baby Hendrix yesterday, although I think they're calling him Henri instead now. He's adorable, so small and cute and very very real. Hit home that ill have one in the not so distant future! My DSis is struggling. On lots of meds and is letting her mum do 90% of baby looking after. I'm hoping over the next few days she will step up a bit!

splodge77 · 22/10/2014 09:05

Oh Juni, sorry to hear you're stuck in hosp, sounds similar to my DS who had lots of antibios in his first few weeks & a lumbar puncture which was v upsetting. Sending positive vibes your way. If it's any consolation, I think all the drugs after birth turned my DS into a superhero! He's hardly ever I'll these days (famous last words!)

FurryScoob · 22/10/2014 09:26

So sorry chat hope the doctors can give you some answers.

Flowers juni sounds like you & mini juni had a rough time but hope your both feeling a bit better today.

ChatEnOeuf · 22/10/2014 10:06

Thanks lovely viroids. Juni, sorry to hear you're stuck in - though we like noisy babies on NICU (well, we'd rather they weren't there)...it means they are well enough to protest! Hopefully it will just be the five days. Word of warning: if you're bf-ing, watch for thrush with all those antibiotics around. I made the rookie error of ignoring the symptoms at first, never again!
