I only have 3 and a half weeks left .... i'm soooo scared LOL ! any niggling pain, ache, shooting pain, weird feeling I get now I'm on egde !!!

NatalieJane · 12/10/2006 10:42

Try and relax, they say the more you stress about it, the later you are likely to go. Honestly, the labour is the easy bit!!!

MeAndMyBoy · 12/10/2006 10:43

Morning ladies,

I'm very impressed with everyones cleaning frenzies - not such thing going on for me - just trying to sort the bloomin PC out so that I can sort out the posters I need to put up today. So excited a lady who's joined our company has just got her first customer not sure who's more excited her or me lol.

Debbsy so sorry to hear about your insomnia you go easy with your hundreds of miles driving you have to do. Is is just you can't sleep or are you feeling really uncomfortable and that stops you sleeping? I'm sleeping wiht a pillow between my knees and a towel rolled up under my bump to make me feel comfortable. Turning over is a bit of a pallavor (sp?) but I do sleep - but sounds like you and Caddy are keeping each other company.

Well ended up with a marathon madwives appointment yesterday - did all the usual but then asked if I'd noticed any change in movements - I mentioned that LO had been very quiet on friday/saturday but that it seemed a bit more active now and she sent me to be monitored. All very well, expect it too 45 mins to get a parking space at the hospital (new hospital and they are still building) so if you go into Walsgrave in Cov - be warned the parking could be a farce. Then get monitored which was nice to hear LO but DS was very bored poor chap, then get a scan - lovely suprise as totally unexpected, nice to see LO again and DS was fasinated. They have measured LO and it's smack on the mid line again so probably only going to be a bit bigger than DS and he was 7lb 5 so that's fine. Was then supposed to go and get blood taken but chickened out and went this morning instead. Got to leave the car park and didn't have enough change and no cash point (gulp) so had to beg a pass from security . Then took another 40 mins to get back out of the car park!!!!!!!!!

saralou100 · 12/10/2006 11:17

i got my new red book!! got the usual advice on reducing the risk of cot death and benefits of breast feeding.. blah blah blah. quite impressed though babies get a hearing test at 2 weeks old now with some fancy electronic equipment.. so any problems can be detected a lot earlier and more accurately- dp is pleased with this one, he was obsessed with knowing that owen could hear when he was a baby!!

saralou100 · 12/10/2006 11:19

dp has stolen the car so i can't go to b&q yet

shall have to tidy something then!!

Debz99 · 12/10/2006 11:23

Anyone got any ideas about my back twinges ????

saralou100 · 12/10/2006 11:51

don't know debz.. i've never felt bh in my back but then only had them once in this pg.. maybe it's just where lo is laying?

Hi

Midwife came and checked my b/p it was still fine so there thinking its NOT pre eclampsea now, she suggested i get my eyes checked and took ANOTHER wee sample to check for infections ect but she gave me the impression that she didn't belive how rought im feeling.

I am feeling worse today my head is screaming, my ears are pounding and my hands are shaking so badly its taken me about 10 mins to write ths message. i have a consultants appointment tommorow so i am going to see what he says.

The most annoying thing is everyone keeps saying 'you need to drink more' which is all very well except i have drunk about 8 litres of water everyday for the past 5 days and it's just not coming out the other end.

TMI ALERT!

I drank 8 litres yesterday of water in 1 litre amounts at a time.

i did the urine collection and only passed 4 litres and i havent needed to go yet today so in theory there is 4 litres of water in there somewhere! And also however much i drink its coming out very dark yellow. The dr's keep telling me off for not drinking enough becuase if i was it would be clear and its not. They don;t belive me when i tell them how much im taking in.

That probably didn;t make a great deal of sense, but im so all over the place im just not all together with it today tbh.

HopingCat · 12/10/2006 12:20

I get those back twinges. I've had them for about 4 weeks now. They are very infrequent, once or twice a day usually. It is like a muscle spasm, and I have to change position to ease it. I mentioned it to the midwife and she said it may be baby pushing into pelvis.

NJ - I know what you mean. I like following the progress of the people from the ttc threads. Can't wait for Wuzzle to have her baby as I remember her bfp very clearly.

saralou100 · 12/10/2006 12:47

charlee.. i think you really need to see your consultant! write yourself a fluid chart for today, write what it is that your drinking and how much and at what time... measure what you wee out aswell and record that.. i would also suggest that you write out how your feeling today like a little diary - it's so easy to forget things when your sat in front of a consultant!! this does not sound right i have to say (not wanting to worry you)

not wanting to patronise either are you drinking pints or litres?? theirs a big difference in the amount of fluid then... also do you have any stomach pains?

Debz99 · 12/10/2006 12:58

Charlee think you may now be drinking too much, definately mention it to the consultant. HC i'm using the word twinges in the mildest sense of the word but don't know how else to describe it, its like throbbing, only last about 30 seconds and feels like it runs in waves from the bottom of my back towards the middle and it kinda knocks the wind out of you. As I said earlier only get it once or twice a day and not every day either !

HopingCat · 12/10/2006 13:03

Yes Debz, that sounds familiar. It's like a gripping pain that spreads from my lower back, lasts about 30 seconds, and when it is there I can't do or say anything until it goes again. It's very painful, but when I mention it to medical people they don't seem concerned about it. I get concerned though!

Charleesunnysunsun · 12/10/2006 13:49

It's deffo litres they were measuring it in the hospital, i have cut it down a little since i came out becuase i was finding it physically hard to drink that much!

I am still having the bh's and have a pain at the top of my bump cut they didn't seem to worry to much about it as my b/p has stayed normal.

Sorry i keep going on but im just totally falling apart today, iv'e gone from being a calm, organised capable mum to a complete wreck! My poor ds has only to whimper and i crumple into tears! i just cant seem to cope today my poor mum is taking the brunt of everything aswell as looking after my sick nan and granddad i feel so bad but it seems im just distancing myself from ds as i just cant seem to do my normal mum things. it kills me writing that it really does.

I have been told to drink a minimum of 3 litres of water so i have a jug that holds 1 and im just going to stick to 3 of them a day plus a couple of glasses of cranberry juice. I did question weather i was being given to much fluids but they said no they had calculated the right amount to give my system the optimum flushing out but like i said i have cut it down myself now as it was becoming difficut to physically drink that much water.

Im just getting myself all worked up and in a pickle! I think its a combination of no sleep, feeling ill and general stress building up.

Debz99 · 12/10/2006 14:04

Yeah that's it HC, it must be more than LO playing havoc surely, it can be so painful ! That's what made me think it was BH !

HopingCat · 12/10/2006 14:16

Debz - I did wonder if it was BH, but the midwife suggested it was LO trying to engage. I have had BH across the front of my bump and it isn't painful for me (yet) so the feelings in my back don't seem to be BH. I think that in labour you get contractions in your back if the baby is lying on your back. Mine is lying at the front almost all the time now so I would have thought the BH would be across my front. It's all guess work really though.

Charlee - I really hope you feel better soon. I find that the smallest ailment makes me feel really down and I'll cry over anything (including my constipation . I can't imagine how you must be feeling, but I really hope it improves.

LeilaB · 12/10/2006 16:49

I wonder if any of you may be able to help me.

My name is Leila and as well as working at Great Ormond Street Hospital I am beginning my child psychotherapy training at the Tavistock Clinic. A requirement of this NHS training course is to observe a baby and mother (or father) for 1 hour per week for 2 years. The purpose is to observe the development of the baby and to train me in observation skills.

It is important that I observe a very new-born baby, which means that I am looking for a baby due in October or November and living in North London.

If anyone would be interested or has any questions they can contact me on: [email protected] or I can give you my phone number.

Thank you
Leila

Mummy2Toby · 12/10/2006 20:27

Hi all - for those suffering painful backs - I can sympathise, my labour with ds was completely in my back and I know how painful a backache can be - it may be lo trying to engage but they could also be lying back to back - maybe try sitting backwards on a dining room chair IYSWIM or sitting on the sofa with pillows behind you to prop you up more, it might shift the lo away from your back.
charlee - you sound very down hun, and who can blame you - I hope that you get it sorted soon at the consultants, no helpful words really just a hug!
I have been having quite a few bh's again today, mind you I did walk aroung the shopping centre for 4 hours, so that does tend to bring them on - it feels strange to me as I didn't have a contraction in my tummy with ds - I only felt it in my back. Anyway enought from me - am off to try to advertise my double buggy again! My mum and nan have offered to pay some towards that special buggy I anted, so am having that can't wait to take ds and lo out in it

staceym11 · 12/10/2006 21:39

hello everyone,
well started tutoring my cousin today, went better than i expected acctually, dont think its going to be too bad, wish i could drive tho, would make it sooooo much easier!

jodypops - maclaren do a double umbrella folding buggy, thats the one im getting its a twin techno.......a bit heavier than a normal umbrella folding buggy but takes up a lot less space than most of the other doubles iv seen out there!!!

well as for back pain i get that sometimes, never really thought about it tho as my labour with dd was very strongly situated in my back (tho she wasnt back to back) so i just assumed its soemthing i get with pregnancy (have a lot of period pain in my back too!)

NJ - i was on the ttc threads (beanies bumps and bikinis to name just one!) for a little while before my BFP with this one, seems like an age away now.....cant believe im this close to having him when for a while it felt like it wasnt gunna happen!

right best go....not getting a lot done sitting here is it??!?! lol oh and my cleaning i think is nesting as this morning before i lef the house (at half 9) i put washing and tumble on, hoovered the whole flat and cleaned the bathroom...randomly! lol

NatalieJane · 13/10/2006 09:15

I will do the catch up in a second, but got a question. Way TMI though if you are still eating brekkie...

Firstly, I was induced last time so didn't have any natural signs of labour starting so I'm not sure about any of this.

I have heard 'a show' being described as looking like a lump of snot (sorry - I really hate that word) sometimes with blood, sometimes with out, but how much of a lump is it? And if it isn't a very large lump, can you loose a little bit of it at a time? And, if you have a show at 34 weeks, does that mean anything is about to happen, or can you loose it weeks before labour?

Answers on a postcard please I will do the catch up now

MAMB, I am glad everything went well at the hospital, must have been a bit scary for you for a bit.
Charlee, I think either you, or DH if you don't want to, need to put your foot down and get things checked out properly, and don't take no for an answer. I don't want to worry you, and it could just be down to a simple infection of some sort or something, but to hold that much liquid just doesn't sound right to me. SaraLou has posted some really good advice, I would follow it to the letter if I were in your shoes.
HC, Wuzzle is due on the 24th (I think - somewhere around then!) so she is really really close, and you're not much behind her, so it looks like there will be more babies to add to Cori's soon enough!
Stacey, sorry, I posted about the TTC to everyone who was on them, but I mentioned HC because she had posted just before me! I was only on the monthly ones, starting from January, and I stayed for ages even after I got my BFP because the girls were so nice! I don't know hardly anyone on the new ones that start up now.

Well, as you might have gathered, I think I have had a bit of progress this morning, although it might just be some funny sort of discharge or something. I am starting to get quite annoyed with things now, I am totally convinced this baby isn't going to be born until December, which means all of these things that keep happening, the very painful contractions every night and most mornings, feeling sick, not sleeping well due to state of mind rather than anything else, head aches, and the constant pressure down below (I feel like I constantly need to go to the toilet properly if you know what I mean? But when I try nothing happens, I am still "going" regular so not constipated or anything - just feels like it!!) , and now with this possible show, it all seems pointless to be going on so early, because I just know he is going to be as stubborn as his big brother and hold on in there for as long as possible!

DebbsyandBibby · 13/10/2006 09:38

hi nj i went to antenatel class last night and they were on about the show and said it can hapen weeks before labour and it can be a little or a lot .hth

NatalieJane · 13/10/2006 09:39

Thanks MyGirl, I will keep an eye on it then, if any more comes out I will have to do something I guess. (So sorry for the next bit, I am truly blushing sat here thinking about what I am about to say!) What I had was very green and stringy, no blood, no smell, I did have a sniff in case it was the start of an infection or something, but no smell LOL OMG
