I have had to curb the cleaning frenzie, DH was supposed to be clearing out the dining room and finishing the decorating in the hall last weekend so I could do down stairs properly this week, he did the dining room, so that is all back to normal, but then he got called out for work so didn't do the hall, and then he came in last night and managed to throw two big cups of coke all over the living and dining room carpet, which have stained, so now the next thing is to get his BIL up to clean the carpets for us with his magic machine thingy me bob, so looks like the hall will be waiting for another weekend. I have as little as 4 and a half weeks to go, all the carpets need cleaning, the hall needs finishing, the kitchen ceiling needs painting and the walls need a second coat, and then a huge scrub down in all of the cupboards and everything, we still need to put some shelves up in the babys room and put his curtain pole and curtains up, plus we need to get Christmas shopping out of the way as much as possible, and I haven't even started all of the washing of the blankets and clothes yet, think we are going to run out of time!

Bethbe · 11/10/2006 11:03

Hi all,

Really should be doing cleaning etc. at some point soon! Do some people just miss out on the nesting instinct, - or have I just been using the idea that I will get it to be lazy over the past couple of weeks and now the house is in such a tip no 'instinct' will work!?

Stacey: Didn't think much of your BILs comment. I have a male colleague at work that always asks 'How's the diet going?' every time he sees me. I would report him to HR if they weren't completely useless! (He also asked me if I was eating for ten last week)

staceym11 · 11/10/2006 11:06

oh NJ, and you were doing so well.........im not too bad now as we only moved in 6 month ago so only 6 months of dust/dirt to clean (was new when we moved in) also both being quite young and having lived in 2 rooms (our bedroom and dds bedroom) at my mums for nearly 2 years we havnt got masses of stuff (except toys! lol) so its a bit easier for us.

dd got horrible runny nose this morning, nice and green! mmmm....slight infection me thinks! must go and sort the corner out to fit my new tumble dryer in! oh i can do more than 1 load of washing every 4 days! yipee!!!!!!!!

Debz99 · 11/10/2006 11:08

NJ - Christmas Shopping, what's that LOL not even thought about presents etc, I am of the mind that if I feel ok and me and LO are ok I will do some if I have time otherwise Christmas is cancelled and woe betide anyone that moans

staceym11 · 11/10/2006 11:09

bethbe.....i walked into toddlers the other day and a mate of mine just looked at me and said 'you really need to stop eating you know?!'

but i know she was joking, and she was bigger than me anyway when she was pg so i just reminded her of that fact! lol

people can be so insensitive tho cant they.....i do like the little kids who obv. havnt met many pg ladies and ask their mummies why 'that lady (being me) is so fat! lol, makes me laugh, the mums cringe tho!

Bethbe · 11/10/2006 11:14

Calsworld,

It was me asking about ranatidine (zanac) doses! The box I buy from the chemist says max 75mg twice a day, but I misread it and have sometimes been taking double that, so just wondered what the doctors prescribe to see if I was doing any harm.

I think the Zantac box even says don't take when pregnant, which is bllcks. It makes me so angry to be patronised just because I'm pregnant. The pharmacist even said to me 'they're not for you are they?' when I bought them, but she said this with a bit of a twinkle in her eye and a smile! What's the point of these games?

NatalieJane · 11/10/2006 11:16

LOL Stacey it is even more embarressing for the mum (i.e. me) when DS pipes up with 'Has that lady got a baby in her belly as well mummy?' and I am trying to find a nicer way of saying 'No she has just got a fat belly....' LOL

Debz, everyone would understand if I took that stance... all except DS, who would be heartbroken if Father Christmas didn't leave him any pressies! Besides, although we are running out of time, I lurve Christmas, the shopping and the decorations and the wrapping pressies.... it is so exciting!!

And to think, last year we went to watch DS's christmas play, with out a new baby even having entered our thoughts, this year, the baby will be either there with us, or too young to leave the house! LOL How bloody strange is that?!

Bethbe · 11/10/2006 11:19

Oooops, really sorry for the rant!

Went to a birthng class last night and one of the men was made to wear a rucksack back to front while the girls filled it with oil, pasta, flour, potatoes etc. to make up the weight of a pregnancy. Poor guy looked very uncomfortable - but made me laugh!

podglet · 11/10/2006 11:20

My friends son (4) only copped on to me being pregnant last week. I asked him if he remembered Mummy having 2 babies in her tummy last year and he did so I said that I had one in mine which prompted the comment "but you're much fatter than Mummy was - you look like the front of a train Aunty Jen" I had to laugh

What I dislike is complete strangers thinking it's ok to comment and touch me. I know I am big, even for 34 weeks and yes, I am sure there is only 1 in there - grrrr. And, if I don't know you, please don't assume it's ok to touch my bump. It isn't.

Ok, will stop ranting now we have just had the mother of all storms here.

staceym11 · 11/10/2006 11:21

yeah, dd hasnt quite got to the asking about big bellies that dont have babies in them.

she did point to a picture of a lady in the boots xmas cataloge (cant spell to save my life) who had a bump and announced 'like mummy'!! how cute

oh and now the baby has permission (from dd) to come out, last week she told me she didnt want him out and he had to stay in my belly!!!

NatalieJane · 11/10/2006 11:22

I have a strange question.

I thought I was going mad, but this is the forth time I have heard it now. Can anyone else hear a clicking sound coming from the baby, or in that area? It sounds like when your knees click or something, but I don't feel anything, and it is when the baby is moving so I am guessing it is the baby? Is that right? Is it something else? I honestly don't feel a thing, except the baby moving, and I only hear it because I have no telly or music on or anything, so it is a very quiet sound.

staceym11 · 11/10/2006 11:24

thats the other thing my BIL does (at 12 years old remember but i just cant stand it!) he touches my stomach, has never asked, nothing, just puts his hand on my stomach.........i just want to shout and tell him to f*ck off, theres that language again, im not very sociable today! lol

right, MUST go do lucnh and then sort this flat out! prob talk later!

Bethbe · 11/10/2006 11:25

NJ,

Is it just a one off every now and then, or are they regular?

Debz99 · 11/10/2006 11:28

The only clicking or grinding I hear NJ is my pelvis when I try to turn over in bed ! LOL !

NatalieJane · 11/10/2006 11:28

Not regular, I heard it last night when I was in bed, and three times this morning, once before I got out of bed, once when I had just got out of the shower, and then again just before I said about it.

Debz99 · 11/10/2006 11:30

Oh and I would like like to add that I think LO is trying to engage his head today, every time I get up and walk around I can feel pushing in my groin area !

NatalieJane · 11/10/2006 11:30

Debz, it isn't me, I'm not clicking, I was led still in bed and I heard it! I don't know if it is a click as in two bones clicking, that is just what it sounds like, but it does only happen when the baby is moving, though not everytime he moves.

NatalieJane · 11/10/2006 11:31

Sounds like he is making his way down Debz, probably why you had those pains earlier on.

NatalieJane · 11/10/2006 11:49

No, I don't think I would describe it as a popping sound, definitely more of a clicking sound. I have started a thread, but no answer yet!

Bethbe · 11/10/2006 11:49

This may be a little cheesy, but has anyone thought of giving a card/presie to DH/DP from them or the new LO after the birth. It's just that my mum told me that afterwards, everyone wants to meet the baby, ask after the mother etc and the DP/DH can feel a little left out!

Debz99 · 11/10/2006 11:53

Very curious NJ would like to know what it is too LOL !

Debz99 · 11/10/2006 11:56

NJ - you may be right re: the pains earlier, cos I only felt this immense pushing afterwards !

NatalieJane · 11/10/2006 11:57

I hadn't really thought about it BethBe, but then DH isn't one for sitting back and being on the outside of anything.

I think he appreciated me finding even just 5 minutes for a cuddle on our own or whatever after DS was born, I think, as silly as it sounds, DH's can feel left out of their DW's thoughts for a while, and although I wouldn't worry myself silly over it, a bit of thought goes a long way when you are both shattered and surviving the first few weeks!

MeAndMyBoy · 11/10/2006 12:15

bethbe I think that's a lovely idea. DS was born on fathers day and because of a prompt from my BIL I did get a card just in case and so DH's first fathers day card was on the day DS was born. Think I might have to do something for DH this time as well - not sure what though hmm.

NJ sorry for confusing you with my girl. lol

Stacey - rest up now ya hear!!!

well not doing very so far today - PC has died so can't finish a letter on there to send out, using the laptop and can't get the printer to work and print out the letter I want to send. Humph!!
It's tipping it down so don't really want to go trapsing round shops with flyers and posters - a pretty useless day all in all.
