Feeling crappy with this cold, seems to be getting worse not better! The only painkillers we have in the house are ibuprofen or paracetamol with aspirin, which is better? Not going to take more than 2, nhs website says asprin ok under 75mg but these have 300mg!

TheBooMonster · 12/10/2014 18:55

I'd be leery about taking either, but pretty sure ibuprofen is the worse of the two. got any honey and lemon juice you could mix up with hot water till you can get to a shop in the mornin?

BonjourMinou · 12/10/2014 18:55

Ooh it does look good, I'll have to check it out, thanks Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 12/10/2014 18:57

I did that Friday night and helped my throat but my head and neck are so sore :(

TheBooMonster · 12/10/2014 19:01

Try laying with a well wrapped hot water bottle under your neck area to see if the heat helps :)

cinnamongreyhound · 12/10/2014 19:07

Just had an idea, calpol!!!

BonjourMinou · 12/10/2014 19:55

It was, a bit gritty! My throat and neck feel better but my head still hurts, still achy and shivery, this sucks! Once kids are asleep we're going to bed as dh feels rubbish too!!

daholster · 12/10/2014 20:24

Oh no cinnamon! Get some paracetamol tomorrow. My GP said I could take cocodamol 8/500 for a couple of days if I needed to for pain but I didn't. Got some just in case though. I hope you feel better soon.

Just made the error of revealing my dd's name on a name thread. Now people feels the need to pass comment! Was only trying to help someone match a name. Good grief Hmm . Still, I love her name and it's perfect for her. Feeling annoyed though!

dancestomyowntune · 12/10/2014 20:28

Oh dear daholster! I think if I revealed my children's names I'd be ridiculed on the names boards. And yet they suit them.

TheBooMonster · 12/10/2014 21:02

daholster the people on the names threads can be a bit mean and judgey, not going to lie I have to avoid it most of the time as it turns me into a monster, I'm the "If your name choice wouldn't get past a committee of people from all walks of life to include at least one person who was bullied in school for having a stupid name then it shouldn't be allowed" types. Peaches: out Raven: out Balthazar: out out out and a psyche evolution ... something sensible like Alexander that you have every intention of calling Zander in day to day situations: in.

Siarie · 12/10/2014 21:15

Anyone suffering with acid reflux (heartburn) try some Frijj milshake! I don't like the taste of milk on its own. Milkshakes are great though! Yay

TheBooMonster · 12/10/2014 21:20

ooh daholster have just seen your thread! They're perfectly lovely names!

daholster · 12/10/2014 21:47

theboomonster love you!!! Thank you Smile Thanks

Horseyone · 12/10/2014 21:59

Hello! So lovely to see all pics! Did anyone start a fb group in the end? Scan on Tuesday, wish DH was here boooooo

Cannot wait to buy maternity clothes, nothing fits anymore! Apparently next maternity jeggings are amazing :) x

Lindalove · 12/10/2014 22:18

Anyone else beginning to have problems bending over. ... I'm 15 + 3. Also - anyone used one of those pregnancy pillows to sleep with? Apparently I shouldn't sleep on my back after 16 weeks .. ? So say some recommendations.

TheBooMonster · 12/10/2014 22:46

linda I tried to bend over (from siting) to get something that had fallen down by the checkout earlier and I almost got STUCK! Got a cramp right across the bottom of my ribs to reassure me it was an entirely stupid thing to do!! I have just a long straight body pillow, it somehow still takes up half the bed, DH hides it :/

catsofa · 13/10/2014 02:26

Amazing discovery today, thought others might like to know. Tescos sell pasteurised Brie! It looks rubbish, it's Everyday Value French Brie in the value plain white packaging, but it tastes fine as I can confirm after eating half a packet of it this afternoon. Hooray!

What was the outcome of the first trimester conversation earlier? I've bought a tiny bottle of good red wine to celebrate getting through it, which I thought I could have on Wednesday. Do I have to wait until the following Wednesday? Please say nooooo..!

dancestomyowntune · 13/10/2014 04:55

Laying here listening to the rain and realising that I am now 14 weeks pregnant. I desperately want to know what we are having... Everyone I have shared the 12 week scan with says girl (nub theory), heartbeat on Doppler sounds like galloping horses (indicating girl) but I daren't get my hopes up. I could book a gender scan in a couple of weeks, except that will be half term and the children have a dance festival so not sure when I would fit it in...

I wish to file a complaint that my second trimester glow has not been delivered. Instead I had a cracking headache yesterday (two doses of paracetamol, but the first I've had all pregnancy so I'm not going to worry about it), and I've come out in a particularly bad rash of spots. This is not the blissful fourth month experience I was promised! (Bah, humbug, etc.)

I've finally cracked and ordered some pregnancy books... I went for Expecting Better after this thread's hearty recommendations (plus it's the sort of book I tend to find interesting anyway), and What To Expect When You're Expecting for the more conventional medically stuff. Had a bit of a Google around for reviews of the options, and good heavens people have strong opinions based on preference! What to Expect scored poorly with some for not having enough humour or diary-style content - which is precisely what I wanted to avoid, so at least those reviews helped a bit....

Lindalove · 13/10/2014 07:28

catsofa I now have a small (125ml) glass of really, really good wine once a week with dinner normally on Saturday - it's a lovely treat and I look forward to it!

misty thanks I'll check out the dream genii pillow. I'm keen to maximise good sleep while I can!

cinnamongreyhound · 13/10/2014 07:33

I think books are very personal! I thoroughly recommende how not to f them. It talks about all the things that each 'type' of mother does and the impact of these. A lot of the sleep training books with evoke very strong reactions depending on the type of child you've had and your opinions about controlled crying, co-sleeping etc. a little while down the line but I love Annabel Karmel for purée ideas and food in general if you don't want to purée and do blw. The wonder years has bits I don't agree with but I did find a lot of it useful but again that was for babies not pregnancy.

No bending problems and still not a lot of sign of a bump and still no movement here yet either :(

Horrible cold isn't subsiding and I've just had a very wet walk with the dogs :( paracetamol and Ribena is on dh's list on his way home from work as he has the car and I have 3 school runs so won't be going out any extra!!!

15weeks today :)
