Just read the link..my appt is at 3pm on Monday..yay Grin

daholster · 10/10/2014 10:12

I always thought it was 13+0. That's what I'm sticking with anyway...

Feeling nauseous again last two days. Jumped out of bed last night just in case then it settled... Eurgh. Driest mouth in the world again too! Perhaps my war is less sore though?

Just found out from work that due to my training contract leading to professional qualifications and accreditation at the end, that I will need to work for 12 weeks after my maternity leave with a couple of simple assessment hoops to jump through in order to show that I am still up to date and eligible to qualify. Fair enough I. Suppose, but my end date is 19th May. It means I will have to finish work at about 33 weeks, and dc2 will only be 10 months old on my return, instead of almost a year like dd.

13+3

daholster · 10/10/2014 10:13

Wonder why my stupid phone keeps changing ear to war?!!! Or maybe its just my clumsy fingers...

But that would make full term 42 wouldn't it BananaToast?

I agree getting to 13 weeks is 2nd trimester.

Can you not work past 33weeks if baby allows daholster? I managed to 38 weeks with ds1, I know you're likely to have baby early but working until closer to birth will give you a few more weeks.

BananaToast · 10/10/2014 11:47

I don't know, I didn't work it all out just assumed the first website I clicked on would be right Blush

Happy for it to come sooner!

Lauren82000 · 10/10/2014 11:58

I work term time only so officially my maternity leave starts at the beginning of April but I actually have 2 extra weeks at Easter so it starts in March. As for coming back which should be in January there is feb half term so might only be back for a week or two before having another week off which is a nice way to ease myself in. Don't know how you could afford to be off for the full 12 months. My money stops after 9 months so have to get back ASAP. We'd still have a roof over our head but no food, heat or light, if I didn't work too.

Phryn · 10/10/2014 11:59

Hi ladies,

Just wanted to pop in and share some good news. Some of you might remember me from earlier on the bus. I had a MC at the end of August.

Emotionally it's been a roller coaster but we've had amazing support. So many friends came out the woodwork and told us about their past MCs which really helped me and my DH - especially as the vast majority went onto conceive again.

Physically my body coped well - so well in fact I had a BFN a week after the MC, my cycle must have rebooted okay because the WTF cycle ended in a BFP! Smile It's hard to date where I am - about 5+2 looking at my temperature chart and 6+2 if you count the MC as LMP.

I'm currently a combo of excited and terrified. I've actually started to feel nauseous which I didn't last time - and so far, no spotting. We've booked a reassurance scan for 3 weeks time which I really hope gives us positive news. Please cross your fingers/pray/send positive thoughts that this little one makes it!

Lovely to see some scan pics and see so many of you doing well. Banana especially pleased that despite the spotting and brown in cm that your bean is sticky and developing well.

daholster · 10/10/2014 12:00

Hi cinnamon ! Not unless they agreed to extend my contract which they have no reason to. After all, why pay me for longer than they have to?

The problem is that I need 12 full weeks at work after I return from any extended leave, before my contract ends and I qualify. Without mat leave my current end date is May 19th. Baby is due 14th April. If I worked to 31st March (38 weeks) then when I returned to work I would only have 7 weeks of my contract left... Not the 12 weeks I need. So I will probably just have to push when I leave back so I have enough time left on my contract when I return. I'm sure there are plenty of silver linings... Lots of time to get ready, and finishing just before half term so I can spend the first week of mat leave doing stuff with my mum and aunt who are in the teaching profession - I'm sure I'll find more!

daholster · 10/10/2014 12:08

Cross posted! Hi pharyn what lovely news! I hope it all works out for you.

lauren my money runs out at 9 months too but lucky that although we have to really tighten the purse strings we can manage. Dd nursery will be an extra cost this time though, will probably drop her hours... Dh and I already arguing about that since he'd quite like to take her out fully while I am on mat leave. Not only do I think I might struggle, and appreciate a day or two of just me and the new one, I also think it unfair to upheave her so much when she is happy and it has taken her a while to settle. Re-settling her back in when I need to return to work sounds awful Confused ... And also we would lose the nursery place that we had to wait for!

This one might run and run... I think we should drop her to 1 or 2 days a week. She currently goes for 3 days and I am part time so have her for the other two.

Gosh I'm so glad I don't work officially, it means I don't get any maternity pay even from the state as DH as earns too much and I haven't been in full or part time work for almost a year now.

But I'm just glad that im going to get to spend my whole life with our children, things all being well. Child care is really costly and we don't live near any family, even if we did they work so lol.

Feeling very privileged that I have that choice, it must be really hard to leave their little faces in the morning.

daholster · 10/10/2014 12:40

siarie what a lucky lady! A little bit jealous... Envy Though be sure to socialise your little ones and make sure they get to play with other kids. Nursery has done wonders for dd, she's a confident little bean and she likes to go to nursery (though the separation anxiety has returned since dh was away so she cries every morning again... Hope that stops again soon!).

Also, since dh went away she won't give him a cuddle or anything, it's all about mummy and it's really sad to see, he is desperate to do stuff with her. I hope it all settles out quickly (just in time for him to go again... Sad

BrixtonBunny · 10/10/2014 12:41

Amazing news phryn! Thank you for telling us your brilliant news. Rooting for your lovely sticky bean xxx Grin

BrixtonBunny · 10/10/2014 12:52

Reading people's worries about maternity leave makes me both worried and relieved - I get six months off at full pay, three months on stat pay, then free months with no pay. So the last six months will be tough (especially as we're currently buying a flat!) but we'll be able to cope as we've saved enough to tide us over. No idea if I'll be able to go back part time though - would like to go back three days a week, and DP will ask to do four days. Thinking about the details makes it all very real and scary!

14 + 2 x

BrixtonBunny · 10/10/2014 12:53

Siarie lucky you! Envy Xx

lila35 · 10/10/2014 13:01

Fabulous news phryn!!!

I am self employed so will get the stat maternity allowance but as a hairdresser I will probably get back to work a little bit ( I am mobile), a few hours here and there when the baby is 3/4 months old. At least I can decide on my terms even if we have to find a way of managing on very little income....

15 weeks today and there really is no hiding the fact that I am pregnant. ALso had the dentist this morning and found having hands in my mouth a real struggle but thankfully he' was very quick and all was fine, nnext visit will be in 6 months and hopefully I'll have a baby by then!!!

TinyTear · 10/10/2014 13:03

ha Siarie, some mornings I am actually glad to leave her little face! blooming twonager!
Grin

but i would like if i could work 4 days and not full time

BananaToast · 10/10/2014 13:12

Fantastic news phryn, so glad you came back to update us and wishing you all the luck in the world this time around.

littleluna89 · 10/10/2014 13:25

congratulations Phryn!!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 13:27

Wonderful news Phryn! Really really wishing for a super sticky bean for you this time, keep us updated Thanks

If you think that 12+something is your thirteenth week so when you're thirteen weeks you're actually onto your 14th that makes sense, I think BananaToast otherwise I probably would have agreed with you!

That's pants daholster, if they think anything of you they will extend it though, maybe?!? Glad you're already seeing silver linings!

I was lucky and got 6 months full pay too BrixtonBunny and then took my accrued leave with ds1 so was back to work when he 6 1/2months, couldn't afford to live off smp. I hated leaving him 5 days a week 7.30-5.30 so I started childminding, totally different and blimmin tough to start with but 6 years later I'm so glad I did it. There's still guilt, they have to share me and their home, I can't do all the things I want as I have a gaggle of children to drag with me but it's better than the alternative imo.

This time around I will do the same as ds2, 3 weeks off and then back to it! I can't afford to live off smp and if I take months off I'd loose ally customers too. It was tough and I'm older this time so I'm hoping for a better sleeper than ds2! I will get 5 weeks smp including the kit days. I won't have to leave the baby but at the moment I'm working 6.45-7 3 days a week and 8-7 2 days a week so won't be easy. Still hoping for that lottery win!!

Siarie · 10/10/2014 13:28

Dalhoster I'll be making use of local crèche or nurseries as I'll still want to get my hair done, my beauty appointments so I'm sure that will be a bit is socialising. Also I have a lot of time for all those mother and baby groups.

We are going to look at more family friendly areas for next year too.

Going to be interesting!

Siarie · 10/10/2014 13:32

Oh something else, when do people normally start buying things? After 20 weeks or?

I'm starting a wish list sort of thing as I like to research everything. I'm pretty sure on my travel system and have found these awesome feeding bottles which warm the milk automatically! Which is great as then I can take a bottle and not have to worry about getting it the right temp.

TinyTear · 10/10/2014 13:43

Last time I think i started research at 20w then didnt buy things until quite late 28 weeks-ish...

This time I won't need much, a new cot mattress, a new pram carrycoty mattress and an ergo are the main things...

Maybe a bouncer too as DD took over her old one for her dollies...

TinyTear · 10/10/2014 13:46

And maybe some clothes too... to won't be all hand-me-downs Grin
