Thought we'd better start a new thread, how many more will we get through before babies arrive??

CJ Rowan or Cairn?

As for music Nazism in the MLU - haha I really don't think any sensible MW would try to edit something so personal. As long as you aren't blaring death metal down the corridors obviously. I'm torn about whether to make a playlist - it was the last thing I was doing the night before I went into labour with J. I'd only got through to D on my iTunes. And we totally forgot to take my iphone to hospital in the hurry. It might have helped in the early stages. I was told to make a playlist with voices and one without as sometimes vocals can be distracting / irritating in labour. I found the classical / chillout playlist to be very useful in soothing J after he was born.

gunwalloe · 11/09/2014 13:02

Its funny that we all worry about different parts of the cs. Myn is the fear of not being able to move my legs/feet and escape. Im not looking forward to them removing the drain and catheter to I remember that being unpleasant, I had forgotten about after pains when latching on to BF I will be taking all the offered drugs.

gunwalloe · 11/09/2014 13:04

frau that's scary and omg she was opened up for no reason Shock

ExcitedCJ · 11/09/2014 13:04

Yellow Rowan is already on the list, love it & DH hates it but considering everything that is happening right now I get to choose the name. :)

Me23 · 11/09/2014 13:23

binky Angry at the mw dictating to people why they play! Your uterus your rules I say. I'm going to try to compile a labour playlist later and it certainly won't have whale music on it!

flip I'm glad you have supportive mws It sounds like you had a great low intervention experience last time I hope this time goes the same way.

portico Angry at cutting you in labour did you mean before 2nd stage? That is both pointless and dangerous. I would be telling them to get lost in no uncertain terms.

I've had an eventful morning I've had calf/leg pain for a week now so decided I better get it checked out in case of dvt gp set me for urgent scan to check and luckily no clot found. This niggly pain is so annoying I'm thinking it may be a trapped nerve in which case I'll probably be putting up with it until baby arrives and relives pressure.

Kirstipops · 11/09/2014 13:32

Ooh yes a playlist, a good project for when my batch cooking is done! I have my mp3 player set up with my natal hypno music but will maybe add some other chill out stuff too like Air and Sigur Ros in case I get sick of it! Surely it's subjective what makes each different woman's body produce oxytocin??

Kirstipops · 11/09/2014 13:34

Me23 that sounds annoying, as if your body doesn't have enough going on just now, hopefully something will shift the nerve and it won't last for much longer.

gunwalloe · 11/09/2014 13:39

Im of down the docs in a hr the headache and visuals have returned im sure my body is just taking the pee, the bloods must have been ok as I had no call. Ive got killer kidney ache now to I feel like a old animal that needs shooting to put out of its misery!

me23 that must have been scary im glad it was ok for you

madamweasel · 11/09/2014 13:45

Big sigh - I've had a bit of a shit morning so far, our bathroom sink sprung a leak last night so had a plumber round today to fix it, bye bye £££s. Then got a call from the estate agent in a panic saying we're not exchanging contracts today because of some obscure legal problem with the people whose house we're trying to buy. The solicitor is trying to sort it out now but it sent my stress level through the roof and unless he can sort it out ASAP we might not be moving next week after all. And here I am surrounded by mountains of cardboard boxes in an utter mess. If the moving date gets delayed by more than a week or so it'll definitely clash with labour and new baby arriving (as if we weren't cutting it fine already). I would normally call my parents to blow off steam but they're on holiday and I don't really want to dwell on it too much. So, deep breath, keep calm and instead of the strong G&T I'd be going after I'm going to have to see if Cake helps.

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 11/09/2014 13:50

Sorry, gun, didn't want to scare anyone, but yes, surgery was unnecessary in the end, although they must have had a reason for deciding to operate in the first place.

I guess you could use distraction/visualisation techniques for coping with elcs anxiety just like with labour pain (can you tell I've been reading Juju Sandin). It really is a very short period where you are immobile before surgery/until the baby is there when you might want to run away.

Lily31 · 11/09/2014 14:02

Oh Weasel what terrible timing! Is there anywhere you could stay for a bit whilst things are still being processed? Or at least when you are near your due date.

Cake is definitely the answer and it's tough when there is no one to vent to. I've been at the ginger cake a lot. It's not good for the acid reflux, but so moreish!

STIGZ · 11/09/2014 14:16

Why is the the bloomin recent posts taking so long to be added to the thread! ... Is this just mine or anybody elses ?

BingoBango85 · 11/09/2014 14:25

Anyone else's 'morning sickness' returned? 34 weeks & just feel perpetually sick. It's really not nice.

fedupofrainydays · 11/09/2014 14:31

Finally able to do some nesting. I'm cleaning the fridge / freezer. How it can get get gross in building work is beyond me.

bingo yes to third trimester sickness. Happened with last successful pregnancy and this one.

fedupofrainydays · 11/09/2014 14:33

weasel that sucks. I've decided anything house move / renovation whilst pregnant is just so awful and stressful. I hope it progresses for you soon

Captainmcgraw · 11/09/2014 14:44

Wow just caught up with thread and so much has happened! Thinking of those who have been in hospital and glad you're all home. Lou so sorry, that is just shit and I really don't know what to say to ease the pain.

Thanks for positive C-section story - I'm also feeling calm about mine (at the moment). My main fears are just completely over the top e.g. fatal haemorrhage which is clearly not a useful thing to be thinking about! Feel ok about the op in general though.

CJ hope you're getting your head around things now - although it is a shock it's also exciting that you'll get to meet your baby soon. Rowan is my top choice. DH also unsure and taking me on an emotional roller coaster about it as keeps changing his mind. We wrote a few possible full names down last night and he's now saying he's considering it again. Agh!

Lily31 · 11/09/2014 14:44

BingoBango Yes! I didn't actually get sick as such in the first trimester, just nausea. It's hit me with a vengeance now though. I often am sick in the evenings. I think it's the lack of stomach space doing it. Properly horrid cos it's really acidic. Sorry for the TMI....

MundayCakes85 · 11/09/2014 15:22

Blimey you lot are chatty, trying to catch up- it looks like we'll be having more babies arriving in the next week then. I'm excited, although I fully understand why you might not be CJ and co.
Finally packed my hospital bag- just waiting for nursing bras to be delivered. Having a pamper day tomorrow and a well overdue wax- poor woman may need a hedge trimmer Blush

ohthegoats · 11/09/2014 15:47

I felt sick for a few weeks - went along with the non-appetite thing and raging heartburn. When they went, it sort of went too - although not completely. Sometimes just the baby moving makes me feel sick.

I'm doing a playlist, although I'm not sure it'll help anything. Billie Holiday, Nina Simone... stuff like that.

Shirehobbit · 11/09/2014 15:50

I have been feeling so sick, today. I never feel sick. It's rubbish Sad

YellowWellies · 11/09/2014 16:12

I'd like to use a playlist this time, rather than supplying my own impromptu death metal karaoke... But I fear creating one will jinx me into labour the next day!

fedupofrainydays · 11/09/2014 16:21

Ha ha playlist chat makes me laugh. NCT woman told me to make a 'relaxing & chilled out' list. Just rememeber getting totally pissed off with it and so did the mw! Think we ended up with my gym / running tunes - so the exact opposite!

bumpbangbump · 11/09/2014 16:36

Running tunes would be much more motivational!! Eye of the tiger is totally going on my non existant playlist Grin

Me23 · 11/09/2014 16:52

Yep I'm feeling the nausea and vomiting too, also getting lots of headaches (Bp is fine) fanny daggers and generally feeling shite!

munday so jealous of your spa day enjoy! Lol at the waxing, I can't even reach my legs properly now never mind bikini line it's just a wild bush and I expect it will stay that way I will give it a little trim I think in case I need stitches don't want my long pubes being pulled by mistake (ouch).

Those reading juju sundin what techniques are you favouring? I can see the foot stamping and maybe the counting helping me.

Anyone still listening to hypnotherapy cd's I keep forgettig about mine but think I will make an effort to listen everyday now.

Also have you discussed with your birthing partners their role during labour eg helping with counting/ visualisation? How involved are they? Mine doesn't seem that bothered I know he will be there for me and he is a fab dad but I think because I'm a midwife he thinks "oh she knows much better than me what to do" I also think we are both still a bit in denial about the impending birth.

SlideIn · 11/09/2014 17:12

Back for growth scan today & baby's rate of growth has decelerated. 5lb 1oz atm. Have been sent to triage to await docs verdict. Not sure I read notes right but looks like amniotic fluid on the low side too.
