Thought we'd better start a new thread, how many more will we get through before babies arrive??

Yellow have you seen the pics of the crowds in George Square in Glasgow today? Couple of my friends were there this afternoon and said the atmosphere was amazing :) Aw I like the sound of your mw (not to mention the pudding with your lunch).

mum2kiss · 17/09/2014 20:12

Dtd has slowly gotten less and less around here...we're probably down to about once every 10 days now...We used to be a few times a week couple...I not sure the exact reason for things slowing down over time but it probably has a lot to do with the fact that I am usually going on about how tired and uncomfortable I am! Lol! I also suffer with my pelvis afterwards so I'm not in any hurry to get extra deeds in!

Dp will be home in about 45 mins. ..dinner is in the oven but kitchen and living room need tidying...I don't want to do it!

gunwalloe · 17/09/2014 20:26

yellow that's good to know ive been worrying about going CS
Does anyone know what time they do the first CS?

All those having cake have a extra slice for me :) this time next week I will be joining you in carb heaven!

gunwalloe · 17/09/2014 20:29

that should have said going into hypo waiting for the CS

Lily31 · 17/09/2014 21:33

mum2 totally understand the lethargy with the jobs. I have to rest after every small job now... Makes me feel guilty for a minute

I have two v unsexy things going on. Firstly sickness after even small meals and secondly v leaky boobs. Not so hot in the bedroom!

CellyD · 17/09/2014 21:34

Happy Birthday Flip and Jelly. Good luck yellow, fingers crossed your LO cooks for a bit longer.

I'm exhausted, I don't remember being this tired before. It's making me pretty grumpy so I'm no fun to be around either.Sad these last few weeks are really designed to make you want to go through labour it would appear.

I'm not sure how I'll last another 4.5 weeks, if this baby insists on waiting until a 42 week induction.

porcito · 17/09/2014 22:18

Happy Birthday flip and jelly!

Glad things have slowed down yellow, hope you get home soon!

Tomorrow I'm going in to get the C-section or not decision. I have visions of them deciding to do it there and then and me not having anything ready. It wouldn't surprise me given how casual they've been about everything else! She also said she wants to 'look at my pelvis', whatever that means.

goats, I'm definitely going to be a raging labourer...I can barely stay calm when DP touches my belly button when he's feeling the baby move. At least my swearing might not be fully understood by the Spanish speaking nurses...

ohthegoats · 17/09/2014 22:56

Haha porcito - I just had a taste of it. Walking up the stairs, feeling broken after a really busy day of shifting boxes and books, needing a poo, boyfriend reached out a hand to help and got it slapped away. Erk, that's only a tiny amount of pain and discomfort! Poor man.

ohthegoats · 17/09/2014 23:10

Oh, I went to meet the local la leche league bods this evening. I've noticed that as it gets closer, I'm even less inclined to breastfeed than I initially was. Thought I ought to go and be persuaded. All they did was talk about how hard it can be - super, that's convinced me!

YellowWellies · 17/09/2014 23:16

I don't think the la Leche ladies can win - if they extoll the virtues of BF they get criticised for being breastapo and pressuring women if they point out it can be hard they are criticised for that too. I think a healthy realisation that it isn't something that just 'happens' for everyone and a willingness to do a bit of research before hand is about all you can hope for. There will always be some cases where medically it's not possible or you just don't like it and you just don't know until the time comes.

ohthegoats · 17/09/2014 23:23

I like the thought of the ease of it (in theory), and the health benefits.
I dislike the thought of a baby sucking my nipples.

If I want to do it, it'll have to be a big case of mind over matter.

BadgerInBury · 17/09/2014 23:29

Urgh. Feeling really rather off this evening. I've been having stabby pains since 7am this morning and they've been getting worse and worse, to the point where I started wondering tonight if maybe this was the start of something (I'm 37+5). Called triage and the nurse reckons it's just "fixing pains", which is a relief. Still a bit freaked out though, especially with the ones that make it hard to stand up straight / walk / breathe easy... Hoping they'll stop overnight, DH is working two hours away tomorrow and I'm still a touch nervous. Anyone else had this?

binkybunny · 17/09/2014 23:30

goats I went to an nhs baby feeding class and found it really helpful. I'm not fussed whether I bf or ff but the midwife running it was very fair giving advice on both and I now feel a lot more ready to bf.

I have stopped reading the Le Leche book, I hated it. I found it very condescending and the way the opening chapters talked about cs and ff made me too annoyed to keep reading!

ohthegoats · 17/09/2014 23:35

The Food of Love made me want to do it. But my default position has returned!

ExcitedCJ · 18/09/2014 02:40

My sentiment on BFing if you are undecided.....
'I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam-I-am!'
'Try them, try them & you may! Try them & you may, I say.'
Dr Seuss
There is nothing to loose & maybe something to gain, just don't put yourself under any pressure.
Hi all.
Yellow hope you are OK on the ward & getting some rest. I'm jealous of your desert.
I came in to hospital at 9pm to luxuriate overnight before my C-section in the am. Feeling a little nervous now.
Gun great you have a date next week, I am sure you can't wait.
I'm nil by mouth from midnight & have the most amazing thirst known to man! Can't wait for my 6am Zantac so I can have a sip of water!
I know someone was asking about nail polish, you should have clean nails for section so that the tips can be seen, I think it is incase you need one of those oxygen exchange monitors clipped to your finger tip & MW told me "they like to see the colour of your fingertips!"
I got the brewers yeast tablets today, after reading the BFing cookie recipe I thought I would look up benefits of BY & BFing & it seems there is a good link to suggest it would help increase supply. Imaging my nipples performing a bit like beer taps dispensing a lovely malty Guinness style elixir to the baby! (I have BF before, I know I'm deluded!)
Right O, off to try & sleep again before I become a Mummy for the 2nd time. Wish me & the bub luck & I'll hopefully have a report for you later today. :)

FlipFantasia · 18/09/2014 03:04

CJ what a lovely middle of the night post. So exciting for you. You'll have that baba in your arms before you know it Smile (and bfing wise, I found the rugby ball hold v good in the early days after my c section).

fedupofrainydays · 18/09/2014 03:15

How are you getting on slide?

We are also in special care now. This has really been a harrowing experience. I can't sleep which makes it worse. It's like one thing after another. Latest is he's badly jaundice so is having light treatment and tube feeding. The amount of food is so much and he keeps being sick. It feels like one big bad dream. I'm just desperate to cuddle him and I can't Sad

Good luck for the section tomorrow cj

porcito · 18/09/2014 04:32

sorry to hear that fedup, must be so hard. Hopefully not long.

Good luck for tomorrow excited!

I've had another looong day of hideous Braxton Hicks. Baby's engaged now so hoping that means she won't hang around in there. I nearly cried at the thought of 42 weeks!

Flip, jealous of your trader joe trip...their meatballs...mmmmm

SweetPeaPods · 18/09/2014 05:50

Excited good luck Thanks

Fed up sorry to hear that, not good. Completely understand just wanting to give bubba a cuddle, but hopefully will be in your arms very very soon.

I can confirm that having a chest infection while heavily pregnant is not much fun. I am sick fed up of coughing, it hurts, and every time I cough my mum thinks I'm going into labour! Got mw this morning so will find out if baby still oblique or if we are engaged yet. I certainly feel lower. Sleep is getting worse not better thanks to my lovely cough and I keep waking everyone else up too so finally got ds back to sleep.

I think I've missed a few things so apologies, I must read back, but I'm struggling to keep up with you all!

SlideIn · 18/09/2014 06:39

Best of luck CJ Smile

Am struggling tbh Fedup. Couldn't stop crying yesterday & showing similar signs today - apparently day 3-4 is notorious? Alexander not feeding well & needing tube again. Bit my 'good' nip really hard too so they're now both purple. Sore, expressing, trying to BF a very frustrated wee boy is exhausting. Am surrounded by new mums & babies coming & going while I remain here alone for much of the day. Confused They have now said they're going to try & move me to a side room, wondering if I've cried so much I'm now flagged as a PND risk? They're all being extra-lovely and solicitous this last 12 hrs or so. Harrowing is the right word. Sending a hug your way.

SweetPeaPods · 18/09/2014 06:50

Slide a side room makes a big difference. I had one with ds and will really miss it if I don't get one this time if I'm kept in.
hopefully you will be home soon.

kittyvet · 18/09/2014 06:52

slide and fedup sorry you having such a rough time of it. I am sure it will get better. We are hear to listen. Day 3/4 is notorious- my health visitor warned my husband I would be in meltdown! Something else for him to look forward to after the labour!!
Good Luck CJ

ohthegoats · 18/09/2014 07:06

I'm sorry you're having a hard time fedup and slide, fingers crossed things start to look up soon. You're in the right place.

excited - hope things go smoothly, lucky you, in a few hours you won't be pregnant anymore! I'm so jealous!

I've 'woken up' (from bugger all sleep) in a foul mood again. I'm so fed up of feeling shite... every day something new and crap going on with my body. Just so bored of not being able to really do anything. Meh.

Kirstipops · 18/09/2014 07:15

All the best for today CJ :)
Sweet did you get antibiotics for your chest infection? Hope it clears up soon.
Fedup and Slide what a tough time of it you're having, hopefully your boys will be back in your arms before too long, my friend went through the same with her first baby; the lightbox, tube feeding and her trying to express as much colostrum as she could meantime, it was a very tough few days but she now has a very healthy and happy 3 year old, so this too shall pass as they say :)

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 18/09/2014 07:26

slide I spent day 3 in tears last time round. I'm sure they don't think you are at risk of pnd, probably just think you would like/need the privacy. Hope you start to feel a bit better today.

fedup hope things start to get easier for you today, too.

cj good luck!

goats you may feel differently about bf once the baby is here. I intended to try and had been convinced by the information I'd heard and read, but still found contemplating the idea of actually doing it somewhat creepy right up to the birth. However, after dd was born, I was just thinking about how important it was to get her to latch asap and once I'd started it didn't seem weird at all. If it helps, even my post-elcs newborn dd had a latch like a vacuum cleaner - there really isn't anything gentle or erotic about it whatsoever.
