Thought we'd better start a new thread, how many more will we get through before babies arrive??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
STIGZ · 17/09/2014 10:53

OmgShock my clumsiness/dropping things is really getting on my tits, its takes me all my time to actually pick things up then to bloody drop them again Angry

Wonder how yellow is getting on ?

binkybunny · 17/09/2014 10:53

Oh Alfiebear how annoying, did they not say anything to you?

I know I need to just let go of mil comments, she's just made it clear that she thinks we dont have a clue and doesn't approve of any of our ways of doing things. She keeps going on about how she'll sort everything out when she's over at Christmas, which I'm really hoping she doesn't make it. I don't want our first Christmas ruining by her constantly correcting and lecturing Angry

Anyway, enough rage I'm too tired to be angry now. Just painted a huge linen box for the nursery. Trying to work out how I can convert it into a changing unit as well as holding our bed linen!

Pinkie2103 · 17/09/2014 11:16

DS woke me at 2am for a cuddle but then I couldn't get back to sleep and ended up downstairs with a cuppa at 4am so feel absolutely dreadful now.....so tired :(

Thankfully he is at preschool but I'll have to leave soon to pick him up. Just listened to my natal hypnotherepy CD which sent me to sleep but fingers crossed I can sit him in front of a movie and keep resting for a little longer. Have loads to do, especially at DH has invited some friends over for the weekend who will be arriving at midnight tomorrow night - aarrgghhh!

Saw my community midwife and SOM yesterday who have approved my VBAC at home (and in water) - yippee!!

Good luck Yellow

cabster · 17/09/2014 11:17

No news yet! Glad it isn't GD punky and I hope the consultant just puts it down to one of those things. Flipping babies!

Pinkie2103 · 17/09/2014 11:21

I will not be telling my MIL about home VBAC in water - when I said I would like to avoid another caesarean she started to freak out so goodness knows what she'd say.

Thankfully she's on the other side of the world so not as involved as much this time around which considering she appeared in hospital uninvited (while I had my enormous rock hard boobs out) and spoke to her fitness class/mosaic group/neighbours/bowling club buddies about my early breastfeeding issues (not actually knowing what the problems were) is quite a relief. I generally get on with her OK but she is crap at recognising personal space or getting the hint to sod off!!

Missus2ndwife · 17/09/2014 11:28

How do I know Braxton Hicks are BH and not baby just moving about? Last night I felt very tight in the front of my tummy near my belly button, but then I could feel the baby there too! I want sure if he was repositioning himself around my tummy or whether it was BH

FlipFantasia · 17/09/2014 11:37

Binky, ugh your MIL sounds annoying! I'm with mum2kiss in the ' smile and nod' and then do what you want camp. Which is hard as I'm super pedantic by nature! Nursery painting sounds lovely.

Slide & Fedup hope the feeding is going ok and their sugars stabilise. You've got us off to a great start with gorgeous boys' names!

Puss we also watch UK tv! Would be lost without it! Glad you're wrapping your head around having the baby here. There are advantages to an epidural - no sleepy baby like with opioids, calmer labour (I've not had one but many of my US friends have and loved them...and many UK friends wish they'd been allowed them!). Gas & air did nothing for me except make me puke! Juju sundin's book sounds great. Does any local yoga studio offer a labour and delivery workshop? Any Bradley method classes nearby? I'm a fan of hypnobirthing (a midwife made me try gas & air with my first, which made me vom and made me realise hypnobirthing was all I needed). Hypnobabies do a home study course that some of my yoga friends have been doing.

Cabster love it! Great advice for the Scottish dwelling ladies!

Yellow hope all going OK.

Alfie sorry it's been a let down but at least babyalfie can cook a little longer.

Today's my birthday - 37 (and 37 weeks!). Dh gave me some nice little pressies before he left for work. Midwives this morning, which my 2 year old will enjoy. My 4 year old will be annoyed that preschool means he misses it (he says he wants to be a midwife when he grows up!).

FlipFantasia · 17/09/2014 11:39

Pinkie good news on the home vbac front! Exciting!

cabster · 17/09/2014 11:46

Happy birthday flip!

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 17/09/2014 11:52

Happy Birthday Flip!

SlideIn · 17/09/2014 11:57

Fedup 2ml is good! I'm shy of 1ml, you're doing really well, especially by hand. cheerleads
They're working hard to get m'boobs going today, will be in every 4hrs to feed him and expressing in between to try & bring milk in. They're dropping the amount of formula too and testing how he tolerates it, if sugars drop again etc. to see if I can feed him enough. Jelly am lucky, my best friend is a BF support counsellor and will be over later to assist in the effort; she's been on the phone lots already.

Binky Urgh, she sounds fun. Hmm Appreciating mine now; she's been lovely and very accepting of all our decisions - she's a Baptist minister, we are skeptic atheists - while knitting gorgeous blankets for him. Couldn't ask for more really.

Happy birthday Flip! Grin

Lily31 · 17/09/2014 12:03

Flip love that your lo wants to be a midwife. I get where he's coming from. Whenever I see any of my midwives I always think 'your job has so much more meaning than mine'.

Guess it's never too late to change career Smile

Hope the appt goes well.

mum2kiss · 17/09/2014 12:11

The midwifery field could certainly do with the extra help lily and flip!

Struggling to stay awake these days...I have to go into the office tomorrow and Friday and I'm not sure how I'm going to make it!

Missus2ndwife · 17/09/2014 12:24

Happy birthday Flip xx

Me23 · 17/09/2014 12:38

Lots to catch up on! The list needs updating I'm sorry I would normally do it but since mn has changed to this format it doesn't let me copy and paste list, in fact generally it is a lot slower and harder to post on here and I don't have a workijg laptop at the moment.

Re mils agree with the smile nod and ignore method! I'm lucky that being a mw my mil doesn't question anything around labour/babycare. She does like to always brig up the fact that her children were such brilliant sleepers when I have been at the end of my tether with sleep deprivation.

pinkie glad your mws are supportive of hbac, though even if they weren't it is still your choice.

goats re induction for maternal age, it is such a tricky one and is not based on great research it's all about deciding what is acceptable "risk" to you, the risk of still birth is still very low. Some links here which you may be interested in www.sarawickham.com/birthillogics/birthillogics-1-induction-for-advanced-maternal-age/

I'll have to post the rcog one in anther post as I'm scared I'll lose this post (happened earlier)

excited wow your baby will be here tomorrow, you must be so excited I can't wait to hear your birth announcement.

slide and fedup well done on the expressing the postnatal ward is not the best place to get the oxytocin flowing but as the days go by it will get easier.

flip happy birthday! What a sweet Ds you have!

lily don't do it! To quote league of gentlemen "it's a shit business" Wink it could and should be amazing but unfortunately in the current climate it is pretty awful! Hence potential strike action coming soon.

Trying to keep Ds entertained but feelin so drained and sick today, so tv is being overused!

Me23 · 17/09/2014 12:41

FlipFantasia · 17/09/2014 13:11

Me tv is overused here too! Praise be for peppa pig (and Ben and holly and chuggington and umizoomi and tree fu tom and...).

Excited so amazing to think your baby is here tomorrow! Glad you'll have great hair Grin

Can't remember who mentioned it, but yes I'd say take your contacts out before labour in case a c-section happens (memories of taking contacts out while contracting continuously before the spinal with DS are not my fondest! I had to take them out before the spinal as it would have been straight to general if the spinal didn't take - nail polish is v easy for them to remove so less of a worry). With dd I got great designer specs before she was born to avoid the same issue. And will be wearing my glasses again this time! Sadly not the designer specs (broken by dd when she was less than a year - moral: don't spend a fortune on frames when you've v young kids!) but my trusty warby Parker specs which I do love.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I'm such a sucker, but DS was so sad to be missing the midwives appointment that I've let him off preschool for the morning so he can come with us (combined with a trip to trader Joe's for groceries after - it's like his ideal morning!).

binkybunny · 17/09/2014 13:26

happy birthday flip and aw bless your ds!

excited how exciting you'll be having a baby tomorrow! Enjoy your haircut Smile

STIGZ · 17/09/2014 13:38

Oh cj.. You must be feeling a mixture of emotions !! Good call getting the hair done! I got mine done yesterday after my wee scare on saturday... Last time i planned to get it done the day before c-section but she came the week before! Absolutly gutted that i had shit hair in the photo's after she was born plus wanted to have some fake tan on but didnt have that on either, so looked like casper Angry i did apply 3 coats of nail varnish the night before i went into labour and remember the midwifes struggling to get it off before operation .. So had some cotton wool stuck to smudged nail polish ... Oh the glamour !!

sazzlehopes · 17/09/2014 13:43

excited wow you must be! Meeting baby tomorrow, good luck and look forward to hearing your news!

Happy birthday flip, I was 36 in my 36th week....how clever are we at timing things?!!! Wink

Kirstipops · 17/09/2014 13:44

Excited good luck for tomorrow! Can't wait to hear how you get on!

Happy birthday Flip, and how cute that your little boy wants to be a midwife!!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 17/09/2014 13:59

Its my birthday today too Flip Smile. Had a lovely morning with DH whilst DS was at nursery & now waiting for the midwife to come & do my birth plan, exciting!

Good luck for tomorrow cj, must be a funny feeling knowing you will definitely have a baby by days end tomorrow!

ohthegoats · 17/09/2014 14:36

Me23 - thanks for that link, I'll have a read.

I think part of my not booking sweeps or even considering induction, is all about being a little bit in denial. I think I need to have had more pregnancy issues or something. I can't quite believe it's my due date in 10 days... I'm so up to my neck in work and house organisation still, that I can't move on past it or something.

FlipFantasia · 17/09/2014 14:53

Happy birthday Jelly! I had a dream last night the baby came today (which will not happen lol!).

Sazzle great timing is right!
