Meant to say - internet window shopping/occasional purchasing gets me through the dark times!

mum2kiss · 05/09/2014 00:19

I'm here debating whether or not to take pain relief now before I got to bed for when the hip pain starts! I'm pain free now but known I'll be up in an hour or so with my hips making me want to cry!

binkybunny · 05/09/2014 00:35

mum take it now if you know you'll need it. I'm laid wide awake listening to DH snoring while I try and distract myself from my restless legs.

binkybunny · 05/09/2014 02:47

Anyone else still awake at this crazy time of night? Wide awake with baby kicking upwards under my ribs, felt like they were going to crack. Also have had dh jabbing his elbow in my back while snoring Angry

ExcitedCJ · 05/09/2014 02:53

Hi binky, just woke up for a pee and my DD is up and has got out of bed & in with my DH in spare room so now I'm wide awake!
I starving too!

binkybunny · 05/09/2014 02:58

Oh poor you after a bit of a rubbish day! I'm considering a snack as starving too, just wish I could sleep!

ExcitedCJ · 05/09/2014 03:26

Binky got a head cold tonight too! I give up today!
I highly recommend an audio book - Yoga Nidra by Xenia Splawinski, I'm about to listen to it, knocks me out every time.
Bananna & glass of hot milk. :)

BadgerInBury · 05/09/2014 06:09

Baby woke me up at 5.15am demanding orange juice. There is no orange juice. She doesn't care. She wants it NOW. Now I'm watching the clock, waiting for 7am when the shop opens... This may be my first full-on pregnancy craving, does it feel like that for anyone else?

mrsb87 · 05/09/2014 06:51

Another ruddy horrid night. Not only am I putting up with the rib jabbing, heartburn and hip ache but all the bullshit of having a cold too which appears have gotten worse overnight. So much mucus. Eeeww! I had a good couple of hours of paracetamol induced sleep and that was it.
Sorry you guys didn't sleep well either! I know where to come next time!

ExcitedCJ · 05/09/2014 07:15

Morning, need some advice.. My morning blood test on the blood glucose monitor said 9.1. I have not had anything to eat since 8:30pm & I have not had any sugary drinks. I'm not happy that I'm not seeing consultant etc re GD until next Wed. Was going to phone GP this morning, not sure what else to do? Cutting out all carbs & sugars today, effectively healthy Atkins, is this the right thing to do?

Missus2ndwife · 05/09/2014 07:15

Hey Yellow, I think that's amazing!! This is my first pregnancy and the tiredness has really surprised me, added with bouts of sickness, but then I lost my dad too so it hasn't been a normal time for me. I look at pregnant working women in a whole new light now - and just think they have so much to deal with whilst working too - they deserve a medal!! People are clueless. I can also totally understand wanting to maximise your mat leave & pay and glad you have support at home & work. I still think it's amazing that you're working up to the end. Wink

Sorry to hear of all the ladies struggling through the night... My going to the loo 4 times a night is nothing in comparison

magichandles · 05/09/2014 07:29

CJ - don't cut out all carbs completely, you are not supposed to go into ketosis when pregnant. I was advised to have 3 main meals of not more than 40g of slow release carbs and 2-3 snacks of not more than 20g of carbs. It's also good to have protein at every meal/ snack. So yes to cutting out sugar and fruit juice and those sort of things completely, but you do needs some carbs in your diet.

I've read on some forums that people have been advised to have a snack just before they go to bed as that can help overnight levels - doesn't make much difference to me though.

ohthegoats · 05/09/2014 07:38

I think I'm basically going to have to chose between sleeping and eating.

My digestive system is so messed up, that basically if I eat after about 5pm I don't sleep for 8+ hours. Heartburn, burping, stomach pain, needing to wee every 45 minutes or so.. so obviously, irrespective of the time I go to bed, I'm lying awake until about 4.30/5 in the morning. Which is no good when my alarm goes off at 6.30!

Tonight going to not eat anything after lunch apart from come cereal at around 5 - see if that works. I can't do another 2 weeks at work with only 2 hours sleep a night.

fedupofrainydays · 05/09/2014 07:41

Not the best night here either - also have a cold! Fortunately ds slept through in his peppa ready bed and I didn't go in to labour with my husband on the other side of the world.

These star blankets look quite groovy - what colour have people gone for? I don't know whether boy or girl.

binkybunny · 05/09/2014 07:46

excited I love yoga nidri, think I have some on my iPod so need to find and charge it as only got off to sleep after 3.30 Sad I hope you sort out your sugar levels.

mrsb having a cold too must really suck, stuffy preggers nose is bad enough.

Have mw appointment this morning, hope she's nice to me. I'm so tired I feel a bit fragile so will cry at anything today.

Shirehobbit · 05/09/2014 07:48

Can I join the rubbish night club? DH is actually lucky to be alive after all his snoring (no jury would convict me, no?)
But at least DS had a better night after a week of dodgy tummy and multiple nappy/bed changes.

tak1ngchances · 05/09/2014 07:55

My nightly pattern is now fall asleep at 11, wake at 4, toss and turn til 6, doze fitfully until 7. Not great.

Baby due in 3 weeks today!!!!!!!

YellowWellies · 05/09/2014 08:05

And so the nocturnal posting begins!

CJ DON'T cut out carbs - its very dangerous. That is a very high morning level - call the diabetic clinic. Up your exercise and protein in the meantime and cut sugar. I reckon you probably need metformin or insulin to manage it. I was put on insulin for morning readings of above 6.2.

Baby has a hand me down star blanket from j in yellow. I love my babies in yellow.

While I was laid awake I though well this is what lack of sleep with a new born is going to be lack. But then at least there's a reason for being awake in the middle of the night.

Setting up the camping stretcher in the nursery today. Apparently DH can't cope with my restlessness. it was him snoring, tossing and turning and jabbing me, I can't move around too much, it takes so flipping long and is too painful to roll around!

binkybunny · 05/09/2014 08:11

Oh and we went for the star blanket in Heather, think we could use it for a boy if the scan is wrong.

Bumpforme2014 · 05/09/2014 08:56

Oh I didn't think anyone else would be awake but yes I was wide awake from 2-4am this is becoming a reoccurring habit now!

Off to NHS antenatal class now, will check back in afterwards.

bumpbangbump · 05/09/2014 09:03

Sorry so many of you have had crappy nights. Mine wasn't brilliant but only because of frequent loo trips!

No gd knowledge I'm afraid, but I'm guessing with such a high reading you should speak to your gp if you're unable to speak to the diabetic clinic.

No work today, which is lovely. One day back after the hold totally depressed me. O sat in the car as crowd before I even went into the building. Next 2 weeks are going to be hideous! I genuinely think I'll cry every day... So !any of my long term work friends took vr at the end of last term, it's just not the same.

gunwalloe · 05/09/2014 09:11

cj im just going to echo what the others have said that reading is very high can you bully your way into being seen I would be amazed if they didn't start you on medication straight away and you need carbs its a steep learning curve but you will soon get into the swing of it.

Kirstipops · 05/09/2014 09:12

Tak1ng we could be room mates, you just pretty much described my sleeping pattern to a tee the last week! Though this morning I'd include taking paracetamol at 6am then back to bed for half an hour to give it time to kick in!
Feel bad about saying this but glad we're in a similar boat (though my sleeping is by no means comparable to some of you guys), we should rename this the Schadenfreude Thread...

Loulou888 · 05/09/2014 09:15

We got a dove grey one in the end. Too much choice but it is lovely. More silver.

I got up 6 times to wee about a tablespoon. DH got in from yet another curry and beers night out at 1am. Flood lights on, couldn't find something....banging about. Grrrr selfish .....! Seriously don't know how I'm going to last all day eyes are so heavy.
