Oh no Peace, let us know how you get on.

I've had a headache for weeks now and have given up on paracetamol, it want doing anything anyway

Lucy90 · 16/09/2014 11:23

Good luck everyone at your appointments!
I went to maternity triage this morning because i had itchy hands and feet, had loads of tests done and its just down to dry skin! Was more than a little bit embarrassed!
26+1

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/09/2014 11:25

Thank you guys. Gonna be cross if we lose our £300 spent on hotel! Trying to think positively... We did heat the heartbeat at long last! It was so clear and strong, amazing. I'm glad DH was around to come and hear it too.

Lotsa I've done an awful lot of googling in the last few minutes and an intense headache is a symptom so get it checked out?

Taura · 16/09/2014 12:06

Zombie today after little sleep, had a dentist appt first thing (which always fills me with joy... :(), now trying to keep my eyes open at work. Midwife tomorrow and hoping all is well.
Sorry about your scare Peace and hope you get the all clear for your holiday.

LotsaTuddles · 16/09/2014 12:15

How long till you find anything out Peace? Surely if it's not too bad they'll just put you on bed rest? You could always do that in a hotel Grin

Told my MW last Friday and she said that my blood pressure was normal (which incidentally, is high for me as my blood pressure is normally low) and no protein in wee so gotta wait 4 weeks till next appointment and she'll do blood test.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/09/2014 12:23

We're at the hospital now. My blood pressure is back to normal but just waiting around until I can do another wee. If there's protein in this one I'll have to have bloods done, but if it's fine I think she said I can go. She did say it's a bit early for pre-eclampsia and that the virus could actually affect it (community midwife said it wouldn't have any effect Hmm). We'll see! It's looking positive though.

Somersetgirl1990 · 16/09/2014 12:27

Hope everything's ok peace! And congrats taura!! How exciting Grin

Nothing really to report here - very very bored. Hoping the next 12 weeks whizz by (yeah right!)

Have ordered bedroom furniture and pram Smile and have someone coming to look at the nursery tomorrow to do a wall mural for the little one Grin

nickyjlees · 16/09/2014 12:41

Hope all goes ok peace!

nickyjlees · 16/09/2014 12:44

how exciting somerset! What pram did you go for? We are still trying to decide on designs for the nursery, what type of mural are you having?

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/09/2014 13:03

Hurray I've been released! There was no trace of protein in the second sample, so I'm all good! Holidaaaay! Thanks for hand holding; I was actually really scared for a bit there!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 16/09/2014 13:25

Yey!!! That's a relief! Have a lovely holiday x

I'm still in the hospital. Have not been given insulin yet. just have to monitor blood sugars 7times a day and go to clinic weekly. Spoke to dietician who was surprised at my diet (and I told the truth) being so good. Could have done without the wisecracks from Dp though.

Waiting for scan now...

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/09/2014 13:54

Oh it's great when they're surprised you don't eat Mcdonalds three times a day, isn't it? I'm sure the midwife this morning was secretly gleeful that I finally had some kind of weight-related complication Hmm I'm too cynical for my own good, though.

SassehMonsta · 16/09/2014 14:06

Hurrah, glad to hear Peace! And BHLS, I have also just been diagnosed with GD, and told the same might happen. Booo. I love chocolate!

Had a bawl down the phone to DH and to my mum. Feeling a bit better now, but just one more thing to worry about. :( And moreeee hospital appointments no doubt! Hoping they do a clinic on a Friday, as I'm already in for my Anti-D injection then so hoping I can save on parking ;)

Somersetgirl1990 · 16/09/2014 14:33

We've gone for the bebecar stylo in oxford blue - I'm in love!
And the mural that we think were having (I'm not arty at all so my idea might be shite) is the lion king sunset with sillouettes of animals - don't know if it will look tacky but hopefully someone more arty will let me know/advise options Grin

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 16/09/2014 14:42

Yeah Peace, the dietician was all "are you SURE you dont binge on shit loads of cakes?" I was very truthful and had dp to back me up which was good. Grin

Sasseh sorry to hear it. From what they've told me today its more about the potential of having a giant baby than its effects on you although there is more of a risk of you developing type two diabetes in the future. They also wont let you go much past your due date as there's a risk of placenta failing if you go very overdue.

In with the consultant now. Shes about 12. Very pleasant though.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 16/09/2014 14:50

Chocolate is bad but not as bad as fruit juice as its got fat in it so is slower release.

CatFaceCrayola · 16/09/2014 17:29

somerset I think a lion king mural would be ace!

sorry people are having crappy times!

I went to physio this morning and the lady was lovely (despite me unknowingly coming at the wrong time and forgetting my notes). I don't have spd but something is amiss with the ligaments in my back. Been given exercises a tubey-grip belly support and BLOODY CRUTCHES! Admittedly I think the crutches are making walking less painful but I feel like a right pillock on them!

feeling a bit down in the dumps about it. And the prize for the most pathetic pregnant lady goes to.....
Feel a bit of a fraud too, since I don't technically need them now, but need them to stop things getting worse if that makes sense.

This afternoon the head called me in to her office and said (along the lines of): "i'm honestly not trying to get rid of you or force you in to anything, but I would seriously consider looking at getting signed off until mat leave. I had terrible spd during pregnancy and regret working as long as I did"

What to do?

Is it after 4 weeks of being signed off that may leave automatically starts? or have I made that up?

piazilla · 16/09/2014 17:42

@catfacecrayola.... I'm in a very similar situation ... Just wanted to commiserate with you...it's such hard going isn't it! Sorry I don't know what the cut off time is.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 16/09/2014 18:05

Do you feel ok to work for a few weeks longer? If so I would thank her for her concerns but that you are being well looked after by your medical team and are fine to work right now. Agree to review it on a week by week basis.

If you are not ok to work then do not hesitate to get signed off now. You and your baby's health is more important than soldiering on.

Take care of yourself. Crutches make a great DP poking tool by the way. b

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/09/2014 18:41

Catface if you get signed off in the final four weeks of pregnancy then your employer can force you to start your maternity leave. I'm not sure about how long you can be signed off, though - I assume it's the same as for any employee because there'd be ructions otherwise. If the doctor thought you needed signing off, they probably would have offered it? Obviously it's different if you want to be signed off, but if not, then I'd say that your doctor hasn't mentioned that you're unfit for work and therefore want to continue while you can. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

LotsaTuddles · 16/09/2014 20:32

I'm not sure what the cut off is, but DH's cousin just had a baby and her dr signed her off from late April/early May until the end of June (the day before her mat leave started, so he signed her off up to and including the Friday and her mat leave started the Saturday) because she was bleeding and in pain (everything was fine, just a complication of a kidney thing she has) her work were complete wankers because her dr said she could work if and only if they put her on light duties - which they refused to do so Dr said that's it then, you're signed off. Then the week before her sick leave finished they said she had to work one day between sick leave and mat leave otherwise she wouldn't get her maternity pay.

Her Dr went mental and basically told than she wouldn't be returning to work until after her mat leave whether they liked it or not and if they didn't like it, he'd be happy to charge them for another sick note.

She works for a large supermarket.

Just make sure you agree with your employer and have everything in writing

SassehMonsta · 16/09/2014 20:33

Bugger, so my healthy orange juice at lunchtimes is probably whats been doing it, along with my binging on chocolate, biscuits and a week of desserts (it WAS DHs birthday and we WERE on holiday..!). Pah. Oh, and chocolate milkshake....

Cheered myself up with a chinese, an eat-in one for once. Figured I had a couple of hours to kill, so a nice sweet n sour dish with the luxury of chopsticks :D Then got DH a takeaway.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 16/09/2014 20:42

Yeah I got the "fruit juice is empty sugars, eat an apple" speech today. Started the monitoring today and it's not so bad. I'm going to have to remember to take it to work though. Spose it will help with the weight gain too... sigh. DP WILL be bringing custard doughnuts to the hospital with him with this baby is born.

We were offered a Britax B-Smart 3 wheeler pushchair today from a bloke DP works with, with all the bits and pieces like carry cot, etc for £60. That'll do. As long as the baby fits and it's safe, I don't mind. I just want it sorted.

Nurse freaked me out today by saying that from here on in they would be "preparing me for the labour to make sure I was healthy for it" so it's about time I got myself sorted! DP now seems to understand my need to sort the house out too as he said very seriously "Hmmm, it's about time we started preparing for the baby - we'll sort out the little room at the weekend" ARGHH NO SHIT LOVE! I've been saying that for WEEKS!!!

Saw the anaesthetist today as well. He asked me about what sort of birth I wanted. Ummm.... a quick safe painless one please! I hadn't thought about it at all. It's sort of become a bit real today....

espa · 16/09/2014 20:50

I love the Lion King, great idea! Wonder if I could convince DH.

Today I went to GP to go back on my anti sickness tablets as the sickness is showing no signs of going and I also moved my mat leave date forward by a week, so my last day at work for 14 months will be 31 October. Yay Grin Grin

LotsaTuddles · 16/09/2014 21:49

Espa I'm still on my anti sickness tablets too ..... They're not working mw was useless though and said keep taking them, you're not dehydrated so it's alright.

I'm not dehydrated on purpose, all I seem to do is drink to stop that happening!
