Hooray into the third trimester! Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think DD's was on less than 7 days and you just had to check it was dry, no redness or weeping but mw should help you do that anyway. It dropped off before my 10 day discharge. Honestly though, you have this tiny thing to be responsible for that the grossness of it never occurred to me, you too busy being scared that Something Awful is Going to Happen. It's only now I look back and think, oh yeah, that's grim. I didn't see my placenta either thank god or the massive blood clot that fell onto the floor (witnessed by a lucky DH not). I'm just not into the gross bit and I'd rather swallow razor blades than eat that bad boy, freeze dried or not!

monkeybaby2 · 07/09/2014 19:38

Woohoo! Just got a rocking chair off eBay for £25 Grin, I'll need to upholster some cushions for it myself but I figure that's a good mat leave project!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 07/09/2014 19:41

Good good! I dont want to see my placenta either, let alone eat it like my mum wants me to. Gah. Shock

Hi - Just wondered if anyone had measured up as too big by the midwife?

Starting to worry about size of the baby and whether this one might get stuck like my last one did. Midwife measured my bump at 25 weeks and it was 4 weeks ahead, measured again last week at 28 week apt and now 5 weeks ahead!! Midwife quizzed me on my diet and I said my meals are pretty healthy but have been eating chocolate and cake still. She seemed to put the bump size down to over- eating and remarked that I did have quite alot of padding in the bump area ( yes, made me feel great!).

Since then I can't stop worrying about it - I don't think I've eaten any differently this time to the last two pregnancies both of which measured normally. Also most of the weight i've gained is in the bump area not on the rest of me. My urine test indicated plus 2 for glucose but midwife put that down to testing after i'd eaten breakfast. I would be surprised if it was gestational diabetes because apparently I don't have any of the risk factors.

Not sure what to do really other than watch my diet and try not to stress. My next appointment is not for another 3 weeks - I dread to think what size the bump will be by then!

Sorry for the long moan x

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 07/09/2014 20:11

I haven't had my bump measured at all. Possibly because I am overweight anyway so its completely misleading. I do have a lot of padding over my bump also. Have Gtt next week so we'll see what happens then.

stripeymonster · 07/09/2014 20:19

Thanks for replying. Just feeling miserable about it. I hate doing the school run at the moment, all I ever seem to get are comments about whether i'm about to pop and how many weeks left to go. Doesn't help that there are a couple of mums due in September who look smaller than me.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 07/09/2014 20:50

Gah ignore the nosy feckers or tell them you have no idea when you are going to pop! Dont let them get you down. its your body, your baby and everyone is different! I keep getting people touching me. I want to bite them.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 07/09/2014 20:51

Thanks to the person who told me about the first time parent book. its brilliant!!!!

stripeymonster · 07/09/2014 20:57

Ha that made me laugh! Unless I find a (very large !) invisibility cloak - think ignoring is the best tactic!

monkeybaby2 · 07/09/2014 21:07

I'm kind of surprised they haven't offered you a growth scan to check though, my previous mw was very pro scan although in the end I didn't need one. Is it worth pushing for one? It might put your mind at rest given your history too.

stripeymonster · 07/09/2014 21:37

Yes I was surprised too. I see a consultant about my blood condition and he said that he would always rather see a bigger bump than on

stripeymonster · 07/09/2014 21:40

....than one too small... hmmm we shall see. My midwife wasn't very sympathetic at all. Considering seeing my GP to get another opinion.

monkeybaby2 · 07/09/2014 22:01

Sounds like a good idea to me. If he also tells you it's fine then nothing to worry about Smile

CatFaceCrayola · 07/09/2014 22:04

Can't do any harm to get a second opinion.
Nobody has measured mine yet. An irritating amount of people keep telling me I'm huge though. But looking at me compared to bump pics here/on FB I don't think I'm that big

Roonerspism · 07/09/2014 22:35

I would get a second opinion. Especially with some sugar in urine. Phone GP tomorrow and bypass the relaxed midwife.

Better to reassure yourself than fret. GP will prob refer you for scan

CatFaceCrayola · 07/09/2014 22:46

This pregnancy business is oh so glamorous! I think I'm starting to get piles. Grim.
is this a To the GP ASAP situation? Or a It's just another Pregnancy Joy that'll fix itself situation??

Roonerspism · 07/09/2014 23:00

Catface - I have had them for weeks! You can get lactulose over the counter at Boots.

I probably should gets me checked out as they are bleeding a lot but I would rather just suffer

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 07/09/2014 23:51

I'm glad someone else mentioned the umbilical hernia before me. My cousin's baby had it and I was utterly horrified when I very briefly saw it. I thought BHLS might lynch me if I mentioned it earlier!!! I think she had to get it cauterised, waah.

Roonerspism · 08/09/2014 05:58

My last baby had it. It was no big deal. I remember applying salt to dry it up. Took weeks though but it went.

MrsW27 · 08/09/2014 06:46

Oh good BHLS, glad you've found it useful

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 08/09/2014 06:47

Bleeeuughhh....

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 08/09/2014 06:49

Yeah book is brilliant! So non preachy, practical and useful. Feel a little better about everything now. Completely recommend it!

Back to work today after two weeks off. Sad

LotsaTuddles · 08/09/2014 06:54

Morning all. Sorry I haven't been on for ages.

We went on holiday to the isle of Wight with PiLs, SiL and DNieces for DS and MiL's birthday.

Was well and truly shattered by the time we got home.

Can't quite believe I have a one year old Shock

Baby is moving around lots, to the point I'm sure she's trying to escape.

Right, I'm off to try and catch up with you all

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 08/09/2014 07:50

I've got a sore throat :( hoped I might escape this pregnancy without a cold, blargh. Day off today at least, so I can sleep.

Lucy90 · 08/09/2014 07:57
