Guys, washable breast pads or disposable?

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 04/09/2014 16:03

I got washable this time because I've also got washable everything else.

Feeling miserable today. Back to work tomorrow and lots of things I was supposed to do today aren't done. Want to cry.

CatFaceCrayola · 04/09/2014 17:44

I haven't got any yet, but like Pouquoi I'm using washable everything else so will go with washable breastpads too.

Went back to school today. Actually felt kinda sad when they were going through this years diary at how many of the cool things (nativity plays and school trips) I am going to miss!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 04/09/2014 18:22

I never even thought about washable ones existing! I was meandering around Boots at lunch and found them. I'm using washable everything too so I'd like to use these if they're any cop!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 04/09/2014 18:23

Oh, I also found silicone breast "cups", for "catching any leaking milk" ConfusedConfusedConfused

Roonerspism · 04/09/2014 19:25

The washable ones I found to be a total faff. You need to keep them really clean and I couldn't be arsed hunting around the washing machine for them.

The silicone ones killed my boobs and caused a blocked duct.

It's the disposable ones for me all the way. I stop leaking after 6 weeks or so anyway.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 04/09/2014 20:01

That's interesting Rooner, I'll read some reviews.

monkeybaby2 · 04/09/2014 20:34

I haven't bought anything for the baby yet....granted, we have a lot of stuff from DD but I haven't even thought about getting stuff down to wash from the loft. Think I'm in the minority...perhaps I should pull my finger out...

Roonerspism · 04/09/2014 21:09

Monkey - dont worry, I'm similarly disorganised :) I didn't pack my bag till 38 weeks last time :)

Does SPD cause lower bump pain? Really sore lower back and bump out walking the dog tonight.

Somersetgirl1990 · 04/09/2014 21:35

Rooner my bump always hurts at the bottom after walking - almost like a stitch sort of pain, does yours feel like that?

monkeybaby2 · 04/09/2014 21:35

Mine is all very much where the bones are but I do get 'bump stitch' sometimes which I figured was ligaments?

Roonerspism · 04/09/2014 22:01

Mmm - this is more of an ache. Like my lower back. I guess it is stitch like!

It's eased off now I have stretched.

Also swollen ankles tonight. How can three pregnancies be soooooo different!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 04/09/2014 22:04

Oh I forgot to say - I sent my maternity request off today, so it's all official! DH did his paternity too, so we're both feeling smug and organised. Worked out I'll have about 50 hours of annual leave to take before maternity so that'll be useful. Yay!

CatFaceCrayola · 04/09/2014 22:18

I assumed baby was fairly low down, but I keep feeling sort of pressure on my ribs like right up below my boob. Baby can't be that high up surely?

LisaC2611 · 04/09/2014 22:22

Cat I get pressure up under my boobs and kicks up there but I also get kicks very low as well so god knows what this baby is doing in there!!

Roonerspism · 04/09/2014 22:27

cat I get that too. Our bumps are taking up way more room now! Three more weeks until third tri :)

CatFaceCrayola · 04/09/2014 23:06

Crikey! Who knows what craziness she's up to in there if I'm feeling her from boobs to bits!

PolytheneGirl · 05/09/2014 09:57

I had exactly the same last night Catface. DS woke up and had a huge tantrum and I honest think he woke the baby up (that or it was the rise in BP and heart rate I had). It kicked and felt like it was grabbing at my insides none stop for hours. I'm exhausted today! Sad

CallingAllEngels · 05/09/2014 11:30

Morning all.

haven't been on for ages. First week back at school after heading for GM's funeral abroad last week and am knackered. Enjoying day off today and NOTHING planned for weekend which is lovely.

Feeling huge, struggling to get around, low bp and blood test today to check iron levels.

We haven't done anything for baby yet. DH wants to decorate the baby room (which is currently stuffed with old study stuff) but it's up to him! Cot will be in our room to begin with anyway so we'll get there.

Can't believe I still have 10-12 weeks left at work! was planning on stopping on 36 but think I'm going to struggle, so may be 34 instead.

I went with disposable breast pads last time and will do the same again.

Got some good bits in the Boots baby sale when we were in UK last week - a new nappy wrap and a car organiser. The car organiser is more for DS and keep books etc in the car but we got caught out a few weeks ago with no spare nappies so will be filling it up - especially with current pg brain!

SilverLinings2014 · 05/09/2014 13:25

Hi all,
Quick update from yesterday's growth scan. Small is doing well, currently where she should be for dates and weighs about 827gms. Consultant pleased with progress but noted my lop-sided bump, looked a bit worried and decided I should have a steroid jabs to help the baby's lungs develop in case we end up with a serious premie on our hands. Had 2 shots 24 hours apart. Currently suffering hot flushes as a result and can't be arsed to do anything (which is nothing to do with the steroids, just laziness!)

First NCT class last night. DP a bit disappointed, thinks it was a bit dumbed down/ pitched at lowest common denominator, but I've always just seen it as a way of buying friends getting to know people in our position Grin. 5 other couples there and all seem nice so I'm happy.

27 weeks tomorrow. Still disorganised and starting to panic!

SilverLinings2014 · 05/09/2014 13:28

Forgot to say...anyone interested in water wipes? Boots have an introductory offer on a 9 pack for £13. Normal RRP £20.

It's 540 wipes but I figure with 8-ish changes a day we'll soon get through them Shock

Hope this link works:

Peace, get some lansinoh breast pads, they are the best I found. You might not need them for long so I would start with disposables. I invested in washable ones after a couple months, ended up needing to use them for more than a year so it was worth it!

Debating whether to finish at 34 or 36 weeks. Can't decide.

I've felt like I have a massive belly for weeks, but today I feel like I have a belly full of baby! I can feel her sort of pressing against me in various places. Another strange feeling!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 05/09/2014 20:38

I can't remember what your job is Catface, teacher? I'm finishing at 34 weeks because it's so bloody physical, I'm struggling already!
