Evening all, just checking in as this has dropped off threads I'm on again :( exhausted today, have done a 500 mile round trip to see family this weekend. Think may regret it this week!

Lots of sympathy to those still feeling so rough thanks

Popsicle30 · 07/09/2014 19:25

Hi All. So I'm more of a lurker on this thread but I do love keeping up to date with how everyone is getting on. It's definitely useful getting tips from those that have done this before.

I'm 14+6 today and feeling ok. Nausea seems to have gone and my appetite is coming back. I have a little bump now but have had no weight gain yet but I think that's due to MS in the first trimester. I did purchase some maternity jeans the other day ready for bump growth! My usual work trousers don't fit but I had a slightly bigger size which is fitting at the moment still.

Panda I hope the pain starts to ease soon. A trapped nerve is awful.

MGFM we also went pram shopping yesterday. I had already seen really good reviews on the Uppababy Vista and wanted to see it. Fortunately there is a local independent pram shop near me that stocks it or I'd have had to travel 40miles to our nearest John Lewis. I really liked the Uppababy vista and so far this is what I'm edging towards. It ticks most of the boxes for us. I also really liked one of the Joolz travel systems but the basket underneath let it down as it was really small. I didn't really like any of the bugaboos - they just didn't do it for me but I know it's personal preference. The pram shop was great and the cost for the Upoababy included a free car seat so will be better value for us to buy from them plus they have an on-site repair centre...which we hopefully won't need but always handy to have.

Best wishes to you all!

Well it's our scan this morning argh!! Woke up super early with thoughts of telling family! And couldn't bake to sleep, que runnignto bathroom for morning routine!

I am excited mostly with the odd thought that this is all made up and there will be nothing there! By time we get back will be around 10pm uk time on Sunday night, I am really hoping to catch our parents and sil before they go to bed!! It is sil bday today :) all being well I am bursting to tell them. But have waited this long I don't know whether I want to send a text with a picture or wait till I can get them on skype....which gets tricky now the week has started again.

Anyway fx all is well and will post a pic if it is!

junkfoodaddict · 07/09/2014 20:08

Rainbow555 Hoping the scan goes really well. Where abouts are you?

My scan is tomorrow afternoon at 2:10pm. We bought a car on Saturday and we pick it up Monday after the scan. I'm saying 'we' it is actually my DH. I got my Ford B Max in June and he's bought a Mercedes Benz E class 350 estate. So I'm now hankering after a pram system rather than just a parent-facing pushchair suitable from birth.
I had a silver cross linear freeway last time but we sold it because it really was too big for my saxo and we didn't think we'd have anymore children. So I keep looking at photos on ebay of them.
Other prams/pushchairs I have looked at are: Graco Evo XT, Oyster 2, Chicco Urban, Silver Cross Wayfarer, Britax Affinity. I really, really hate Bugaboos - remind me of wheelchairs too. Hate Quinny and icandy - too bulky and friends don't rate them for what they are worth. Don't like Stokke either - looks more like a shopping trolley.

Rainbow555 · 07/09/2014 20:17

I'm in New Zealand junk

Hope your scan goes well too!
I know nothing about prams but hoping to start looking at things soon!

3isthemajicnumber · 07/09/2014 20:34

Evening all hope you had good Sundays.
Interesting talk about buggys. I'm after a double this time as ds will only be 14 months. Any body have any advice. Good to know that a few of you have loved the city mini as I think that is what I have been looking at as well as the nipper 360 out and about or phil and teds sport. I really like 3 wheelers as I had a quinny buzz before.
Anybody else having lots of food aversions? I can't eat carbs. It's awful I'm never full. This week I also seem to not like meat. What will I eat!!

DurhamRed · 07/09/2014 21:04

Kitten I've been signed off work with severe ms since I was 4 weeks pregnant. By the time this certificate runs out I will have been off work for 10 weeks. I can barely move without vomiting, it has been impossible for me to function. I can't drive, work, take a shower, get dressed without dry heaving/vomiting.

Initially my bosses were not impressed but now they realise that my baby comes first and I have to look after myself. As a pregnant woman you have rights at work (check out the government website for prhnantr women's rights at work). Managers are not allowed to discriminate against you if you are pregnant and cannot refuse time off for antenatal appointments etc...and cannot penalise you for sickness due to pregnancy. However, as for pay, I'm not sure if that is covered in your contract. At the moment I am on full pay but I know that that will change very soon. Try contacting your HR dept to find put what you are entitled to.

HollyBen · 07/09/2014 21:57

Hope the scan goes well rainbow

I had the silver cross linear freeway for DD too junk. I loved it and am excited to get it out again

Pinksun12 · 08/09/2014 03:49

Good luck with the scans rainbow and junk!
I hope your sickness will ease off at some point durham, it just sounds so horrendous.

kettlepot · 08/09/2014 05:58

Blimey Durham and Kitten that sounds hideous. Hope it starts to improve soon.

Am currently waiting to board a lovely 8 hour flight to US. And then connecting on smaller plan for 2 hours. Should be fun! Last time I flew (3 weeks ago) I threw up on the way down. Not looking forward to it... Trying to balance the water / eating line. Salted crisps seem to help so got some Pringles lined up.

Once there I have four long days of conferences and meetings. Paaainful. Just hoping there will be a lot of food to get me through!! Definitely got my priorities sorted.

Twittwooo · 08/09/2014 06:35

Good luck with the scans today rainbow and junk, and hope your flight and trip goes well kettle - doesn't sound ideal but do your work know you're pregnant? I've woken up really tired this morning with the start of a cold I think. Feeling worn out, had a full on weekend as DH was working both days and our toddler was playing up yesterday! Need to go and get ready for work now .. the thought of an early night tonight will hopefully get me through!

lotsoftoast · 08/09/2014 06:39

Morning all

Good luck to those having scans today!

I'm 13+2 now and we are off on a wee holiday for a few days - lots of exciting toddler related activities planned!

Scan went well! Got a little high five going on in this picture! So there really is a baby in there! Still totally surreal though! Told family over skype when we got back and they are all chuffed! Despite the late night calls! :)

Surfsup1 · 08/09/2014 07:50

Woohoo!! So glad to hear about happy scans!

I met with by OB today and he did another little scan in his office - he says that although it's to early for certainty his money would be on this one being a girl. That would be something new after 2 boys!!

ZebraZeebra · 08/09/2014 08:24

Good luck to all those having scans today. Hurrah Rainbow great scan, so glad all was well!

Oh god kettle that travelling would kill me. I hate flying! I used to have to fly to NYC for work and it was the pits because it's not like travelling on holiday where you have no expectations on you and can just do what you like! Hope it all passes well and quickly - keep eating!

Miffy79 · 08/09/2014 08:45

Awesome scan pic Rainbow Smile

Argh I haven't even thought about buying anything yet; all I've bought is a wee hat!! No idea about prams etc .. totally clueless about baby stuff Confused

Lifeisabeach · 08/09/2014 09:42

Congratulations Rainbow, what a fab pic!!

Good luck for your scan, junkfoodaddict.

Just rung the scan dept at the hospital to find out why I haven't had a date for my 12 week scan (am 12 weeks tomorrow). They haven't had a referral for me! Have texted the midwife to let her know so hopefully she'll sort it. Just worried there's not much time now to do the nuchal and I might end up with a day/time that's difficult for me to make (DD is still part time at school this week).

theonewiththenoisychild · 08/09/2014 09:57

life my ds is part time school too this week. only one in my area doing it. it makes my scan tomorrow a bit risky the hospital is miles away and my appointment is for 10am but i have to see epas midwife before and after the scan. i have to be home to pick ds up at 12. i have another scan next week but that is at 10am at the local childrens centre and ds is in school all day so that one is fine

theonewiththenoisychild · 08/09/2014 09:59

rainbow glad your scan went well. i cant see the pic on the app but congratulations on good scan news Smile

Butterpuff · 08/09/2014 10:24

Too much to catch up on as always,

Hope those suffering feel better soon, both the evil MS and the trapped nerve I have read about.

Beautiful scan pictures, great to see them, its all getting very real now. Good luck to those still waiting.

Cant believe that people are looking at buggies already, I'm too scared, superstitious to look yet. Plus we move in a couple of months so have nowhere to put anything and should be concentrating on that, and am afraid that if I do all the fun stuff now, there wont be anything left to do when I'm huge, bored of being pregnant and just want baby to arrive.

Will be last minute shopping for me I think!

KeeperOfTheZoo · 08/09/2014 10:46

Loving the high 5 Rainbow!

I'm lucky DS's pram (Quinny Buzz 4) is still in good nick so I can re use that this time round. I think the first thing we will buy will be a new mattress for the cot bed, as we're going to start taking the sides off it soon to get DS used to sleeping in a bed, as we'll need the cot bed for the new arrival. I would like to put something on the floor when we first do it so that if he does have an accident and fall out he has a soft landing and I think the new mattress will do the job nicely! It should only be for a few nights anyway hopefully.

Lifeisabeach · 08/09/2014 11:11

Midwife phoned, apparently the hospital have lost all my details, hence no scan date. She said I should get a date through in the next couple of days. There are still 2 weeks to do the nuchal so hopefully that'll be ok.

Surfsup1 · 08/09/2014 11:17

Ooh, Kate Middleton is pregnant! Will we have a royal March baby?
Any of you super-sick ladies want to admit to being rather royal?

ZebraZeebra · 08/09/2014 11:18

I didn't get our buggy until DS was three months old! I think I got the cot around six months pregnant and various things - sleeping bags and bath seats. I don't think I bought any clothes for ages...I was maybe around six months, maybe seven, and I was in Morhercare for ages trying to figure out what combination of age/season and long and short sleeve vests I needed! We got the monito after he was born using money gifted to us because I spent a fortune on one with a sensor pad. But we followed guidelines to have him with us downstairs until we went to bed until he was six months so w didn't need it for ages.

I checked out what clothes we had the other day - two suitcases of vests, sleep suits, and soft outfits all amazing condition and miraculously unstained by yellow BF poos! Amazing. It's only from about six months - and the start of weaning - that is clothes start to get stained.

Butterpuff · 08/09/2014 11:38

Ha, ha Surf wouldn't it be great to have a secret royal amongst us.
