theone a friend if mine who is a nurse got a Doppler for her pregnancy and warned me against it as she kept being unable to find the heart beat and completely freaking herself out. Apparently it's harder to do than you'd imagine. Just as a word of warning.

toast good luck with the scan. I was like you before mine. So nervous but so excited I couldn't sleep. But the sonographers were great and really nice and ended up
Giving me 3 scans in order to get the NT done as I was so nervous and baby kept jumping about and being in the wrong position (my sister had a bad NT of 8mm with her second baby and the baby wasn't well enough to survive so I was really worried about getting the NT done). But it all turned out fine.

Cross posts. Welcome miss

missmakes I teach the big ones too. And I'm 10 weeks tomorrow (although that gives me the due date of the 28th). I'm not actually teaching until next Thursday but I've got loads of meetings etc to lead and I haven't done half the stuff I planned (never do!) as I've felt so rough. I'm hoping to take a year this time but not sure what DH reckons about that.

Twittwooo · 29/08/2014 09:18

Good luck this morning toast. theone yes, I'm pleased that my original scan will go ahead, even though I'll be just under 12 weeks as I'm slightly behind what midwife thought. It's good that you can both make your new date, even though it is later.

M27J5M · 29/08/2014 10:11

Zebra don't head massage till after your 12 weeks and do t do it after 30 weeks, we're not allowed to head massage pregnant women in work because of the endorphins it releases it can make you mc in early pregnancy and put you into early labour at the end! Your pretty safe through 2nd tri tho!

Hope your all well today and good luck today toast Smile

I've had an awful morning, cried like a baby cos I couldn't get trousers to fit and was running late, eventually found a pair, missed the bus, just got to school on time for the bell and then it started bucketing it down Hmm great morning! Got much better when I got to my wee granny's tho and she had my brekkie and a cuppa waiting for me Smile

M27J5M · 29/08/2014 10:12

Eatscake if you pm me your email I'll add you again since toast is busy with scan today Smile

junkfoodaddict · 29/08/2014 10:51

Never again will I let the washing and ironing pile up. It has taken me 3 weeks to catch up with the washing, most of yesterday doing the ironing and an hour and half putting said ironing away.
At least I have just half a basket of washing to do and will not be behind when school starts next week.
PickledPorcupine yes, she had a TLR. I did wonder why she gave it up because I don't think the HT would have been allowed to push her from it or take away the TLR. I know there are rules but my friend is a very anxious and worried person. She claims the role of SENCO was hard but she didn't have any work to take home when doing it on a 0.6 contract. Her 0.4 hours were PPA cover.

ELA88 · 29/08/2014 11:05

Just had my booking in appointment, midwife is so lovely! So am happy! Although I still don't believe I'm pregnant, I don't think I will till my scan! Xxx

M27J5M · 29/08/2014 11:08

Great news ela :) I'm sure it will all start feeling very real soon enough Smile

Rainbow555 · 29/08/2014 11:09

M27 sorry to hear your morning sucked! I had a good cry this morning too DH make a joke about something but clearly I didn't find it funny! Glad the morning has started to pick up a bit for you!

Toast Good luck with scans today, exciting!!

I am adding heartburn to my list, gah it's horrid. I have always been prone to indigestion but not heartburn and now after I eat (last two days ) I can feel this nasty acid sitting there bluergh!

Come on glow you are much needed and desired!!!

PickledPorcupine · 29/08/2014 11:14

Junk I've heard about a lot of teachers losing their tlr after mat leave by basically being forced into quitting it. It's absolutely disgusting. We are entitled to return to the same job if we choose to. That can be a different class or different tlr responsibility but same pay and level of responsibility. Makes me so mad!

Teachers - make sure you contact your unions immediately if you get any crap!

lotsoftoast · 29/08/2014 11:34

All fine at scan, will add piccies later :)

persepolis123 · 29/08/2014 11:53

Well done toast. Can’t wait to see pics!

I’m hoping I get my scan appointment through the post in the next couple of days. 11 weeks on Monday and I just want a date! Really want it before I go on holiday but they know I’m not having the nuchal test so I’m probably not seen as a priority.

Anyone else not having the nuchal? I didn’t with DS either. My thinking is if I’m told my risk is 1 in 300 or whatever, my mind will go into overdrive panicking that the 1 person will be me. I would rather not know figures. Last time I was told that if they spot that something is wrong, even if you haven’t had the nuchal they still have to tell you anyway so I’m fine with that.

It’s really sad that in 2014 women still have to worry about job security when they are having a baby. We shouldn’t have to deal with it. I agree with pickled - any troubles then let your union know straight away.

Surfsup1 · 29/08/2014 11:58

Persepolis if I got a 1 in 300 I would have an amnio to be sure so that we could make any decisions that needed to be made based on as much info as possible. I'm a bit addicted to information though! Blush

Surfsup1 · 29/08/2014 11:59

Yay Toast! A little Melba Toast in the baking!

KeeperOfTheZoo · 29/08/2014 12:03

Glad to see that the good scan news keeps on coming! I've still got 12 days to go until mine, time just goes so slowly!

I am having the nuchal persepolis, even though I don't think I would terminate if there was a risk of Downs. I'm just one of those people who can deal with most things but need to know what I'm facing iyswim. I would rather know in advance and prepare myself for it, than be surprised by it after the birth. I got ridiculously low odds with DS so hopefully will be the same this time, but I am now 36 and it is just niggling at the back of my mind that the risk is now that bit higher. What will be will be I guess...

coastergirl · 29/08/2014 12:05

Fellow school people, we had "the call" just before the holidays (second last week when we should have been winding down lol). Had been waiting for it for a looooooooong time so anticipation was high! We are Outstanding in all areas :-) I know I'm pretty much alone in that I can't wait to get back to work next week. I need routine and the holidays have been awful for anxiety.

I'm having the nuchal scan but have made it clear that regardless of results will not be having any further tests. Could take or leave the nuchal tbh.

pinkandstripey · 29/08/2014 12:09

I've just had my nt results back, had totally forgotten about it! Saved me a week of worrying anyway! I'm in the low risk category, 1 in lots of thousands.

I had the test in both pregnancies as I want to have as much information as possible, and the downs test can be an indicator of other things as well. I would go all the way through to diagnosis if the results indicated anything, as I would much rather know than not know iykwim.

Congrats on today's scans :)

Surfsup1 · 29/08/2014 12:20

Agreed pinky it's all about being prepared for me.

persepolis123 · 29/08/2014 12:54

Excellent news pink

I wouldn't have an amnio anyway so it's pretty pointless to me. I understand that some others are the opposite though and want as much info as possible.

My grandmother had her youngest child naturally at 46 and was classed as very high risk for downs. She refused to have an amnio but they put her under a lot of pressure to have one and it caused a lot of stress.

According to DP I may have a scan date letter waiting for me at home. He doesn't open my post though so I have to wait until I get home. Hope I'm not getting excited for nothing!

theonewiththenoisychild · 29/08/2014 13:39

persepolis123 i wont have the amnio either as my sil had a friend who was pregnant the same time as her she had her amnio and she lost her baby Sad sil didnt have it and advised me not to either

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 29/08/2014 13:52

Don't need to have an amnio to diagnose. You can pay for a 'Harmony' blood test which picks up a lot of chromosomal disorders very efficiently at no risk to baby. I'm another who would want to know. I always thought previously that I'd terminate, but I don't know - the older I get the more precious life seems and all I can say with honesty, without being in that position, is that I would have a very seriously think about all the consequences of all actions. I don't think I could purposely end a life though.

persepolis123 · 29/08/2014 14:03

Can't really afford the Harmony test. Wish I could.

theone that must have been heartbreaking for her Sad

NotAQueef · 29/08/2014 14:13

Yup I'm another who'd want to know. Doesn't the triple test do risk factor for other chromosomal disorders like trisomy 13. I think if I am classed as high risk I would try and pay for the harmony test but it's £££.

Those who've had their results how long did you have to wait?
It's been 9 days since my scan, with DS I found out there and then so not sure how long it should be.

Lots of lovely scan news since I last logged in really pleased theone & twit have been reassured Grin

I am 14w tomorrow and still feeling like a zombie and so so queasy still. I managed to watch all of 30s of GBBO on Weds before throwing up which was a new one on me.

I am so fortunate not to have hg like some of you, but goodness this never ending nausea and gagging is exhausting.

In other news, I have discovered that grapefruit is the food of the Gods as it is just bitter/sour enough to take away the nausea and satisfy my need for sour without me having to resort to sucking on lemons
