A few babies have already arrived, with more due to make their entrance soon, and it's not even September yet!

Good luck to everyone currently in labour!

I'm 4/5 engaged, but baby has been engaged for nearly 4 weeks so getting impatient...!

Red thanks for keeping the stats up-to-date. I meant to say that they've moved my due date to 20th September Confused

slithytove · 29/08/2014 22:04

My bits are hurting so much! Had a Hollywood wax yesterday in preparation for stitches, and the throbbing from that plus the pressure of DD's head is just agony!

Ella, I've had my pre op today and the leaflets say its because of the increased risk of infection.

The only trouble is the leaflet says do not shave / wax for a week before your ELCS. Which is really useful if you only get the leaflet three days before your op!

Notices saying 6 weeks prior therefore make sense, as you don't know if you are going to go need an ELCS or EMCS earlier than expected.

DearDinah · 30/08/2014 00:00

I was told at my pre op today to shave the night before! Must just depend on the trust?

slithytove · 30/08/2014 00:22

Yeah, firstly I wouldn't care lol, it helps me with recovery so much, plus I react terribly to shaving - but also, I'm allowed. (Not that a hospital has any say over my body!)

I'm not anything to do with antenatal or maternity.

Plus, they will reshave the area anyway just in case.

slithytove · 30/08/2014 00:23

I delivered naturally and emcs both having been hollywooded, all I got was compliments Wink

topmammy · 30/08/2014 04:41

Good for you slithy making yourself presentable down there. I didn't bother, and still haven't lol. Even my mum commented that I have a bit of a bush Ha!!! (She's a mw and has seen all my bits, no secrets here lol)

Wow so excited for whiteblossom and LH. Jessica was born on DHs cousin's birthday, which I kinda didn't want but you just can't plan these things of course :)

Just feeding Jessica at the mo. She's just done a big trump so I will have a lovely pooey nappy to change in a minute! The glam continues post pregnancy you know hehe.

RedToothBrush · 30/08/2014 06:20

Crappy fact about shared birthdays:
In any group of 23 people there is a 50% chance that two will share the same birthday.

The birthday paradox

DearDinah · 30/08/2014 07:41

Waters broke at 1am, came is as breech, barely any staff so been trying to silently contract on my own on a sleeping ward all night, they wouldn't do EMCS as not enough people working, currently waiting for someone to tell me when I can have one before I push a baby out arse first!

Topsyloulou · 30/08/2014 07:48

That's not good Dinah, they should be seeing to you straight away. What would they do if you did need to push! Hopefully you'll be in theatre & have that baby out in no time.

Hope labour is progressing well for white, LH & cbmb. It's all getting very exciting now.

Nazly · 30/08/2014 08:23

Dinah I can't believe they would do that; hopefully baby gives everybody a bit time until things are in order in your hospital...keeping my fingers crossed for you everything goes well xx

Wishing everybody else a smooth labour x

Slithy so sorry to hear about your loss previously.... I can only imagine how hard it could be to cope with and so happy for you that you had succesful birth since x

Laura2611 · 30/08/2014 09:18

Hi everyone, congrats on the new births I've missed!
And good luck to everyone in labour x

I've been a bit slow to update (rather busy with 3 at times haha) had my baby girl Jessica 7lbs9oz on 22nd by planned c section, everything went well and we were home after 2 nights in hospital. She is settling in and bf really well so far.

white my first ds was born on my birthday too

CumbrianExile · 30/08/2014 09:49

Hope everything goes well Dinah.

Oh no Dinah I hope they've sorted you out with an emcs by now! That's awful they've just left you, I'm terrified of that happening to me. My midwife said that if waters break at night its standard to leave it till morning, but I did point out that with dc2 my waters broke at 2am and he was born at 7.48!! So I won't be hanging around at home this time ... Thinking of you Thanks

Congratulations laura Thanks

KitKat1985 · 30/08/2014 10:09

Congrats to Laura on the birth of Jessica. Glad it's all going well. Smile

EllaBella I'm much the same, haven't been able to see the area in weeks to do any 'gardening'! Will maybe see if I can do a bit of trimming next week using a mirror now that I've finished work. It's all so tricky though. This morning I had to shave my legs and cut my toenails... It was like doing advanced yoga at this point! Lol!

Similarly also snapping at DH a lot, and he's not really doing anything massively wrong either, apart from keep telling me constantly to relax and put my feet up, to which I usually reply that I would love to but the house is a tip etc, and that what would really help is for him to do some more domestic stuff around the house so that I can actually relax for a bit, and then that never seems to happen and I just get grumpy with him. But I know he is working full-time and to be fair he is doing stuff (he's fixing the bathroom tap upstairs as I speak) it's just things like cleaning and cooking don't really feature on his radar (I strongly suspect if he lived alone the house would never be cleaned and he would live on take-aways). Hopefully it'll all be more manageable anyway now that I've finished work and don't have to come home from work and start doing housework when I'm already knackered and irritable. I can just potter around the house now and do things as and when I get the energy too.

KitKat1985 · 30/08/2014 10:11

Sorry just seen your post Dinah. That really is poor on behalf of the hospital. I'd be furious! How are you doing? xx

Serotonin · 30/08/2014 10:32

My mum's birthday is just over a week past my due date and I know she wants me to deliver then lol Grin

I'm nesting now, have finished off the hospital bags and they are ready to go in the car now!

We are currently living with my parents so very tight on space - we can't fit a cot in our bedroom (dining room) so hoping that the baby is comfy enough for a few weeks in a moses basket.

my 4 year old asks me every day if 'his' baby is ready yet and how many sleeps it will be until she is here! He's more excited than I am although he asked how the baby got in my tummy - he thought I ate it lmao. I have so far explained that Daddy put it there and he seems happy with that.

I'm feeling remarkably relaxed today, went out for a dance with some friends last night and got some funny looks Grin

lilone1234 · 30/08/2014 10:39

It's ridiculous it all stops at night time - i'm sure most babies are born at night?! Hope things improve for you dinah. No excuse for it really!

Congrats laura! Another baby Jessica!

As if we need to add grooming down there to our list of concerns. I can't see/reach mine to do anything about it!

congratulations, laura. dinah I hope u r being looked after now. I had a wax yesterday, too. I'm not sure if our trust has any advice about this, but I didn't follow their advicce about having a full bladder for my scans and i ate a brownie right before my blood glucose test, and no harm was done Smile Smile

I shaved a couple of days ago ready for my c-section and it was an interesting maneuver to say the least Grin

My 6 year old and 4 year old have been counting down the sleeps, they are so excited! Very cute. They were talking to my bump earlier and even my 2 yr old came and said "hi baby" for the first time Smile

dontevenblink · 30/08/2014 11:22

Hiccups are so funny ella aren't they! My baby gets them lots and my dc think it is hilarious as my whole bump jumps each time Grin
