A few babies have already arrived, with more due to make their entrance soon, and it's not even September yet!

white I'm afraid if you've been checked out and it's definitely not waters it sounds normal for late pregnancy, oh the glamour eh?

xxmissbrightsidexx · 29/08/2014 12:44

Good luck Cbmb I missed your post x

LH1981 · 29/08/2014 14:31

Think labour is here! I'm 36+5 and the midwife and has just been and said she thinks he'll be here today/tonight and even though I'm a few days early, she'll let me have my home birth, yay!

Bit scared because she reckons he's already about 8.5lbs and I've never gone bigger than a 7.5lber, eek!

TheOnlySeven · 29/08/2014 14:41

That's great news LH, sounds like the devilled squid was worth it then!

Serotonin · 29/08/2014 14:58

I'm jumping back in to the thread, thought I would join in now as I'm likely to be one of the last to pop Grin

EDD 13th Sept team pink (I think)

second baby and DS was 11 days overdue. I have come to terms with the idea that this baby will be just the same and keep me waiting! I don't want to be induced as my previous labour was looooong so going to be doing all the old wives tales to get her going from Monday.

very jealous of all the lovely babies that have already arrived and we'll done to all the clever mummies Grin

I have been on and off down and up with wanting to 'do stuff' and poor DS is suffering because I am feeling enormous and don't want to move much. Luckily he starts school on Wednesday so I will have less guilt about entertaining him - and lots of walking to help things along.

Has there been a fb group started?

LH1981 · 29/08/2014 14:58

I hope so theonlyseven!

Beccus · 29/08/2014 15:21

cb &lh, good luck, v exciting :)
missbrightside, I had that for a few days with dd1 around 38 weeks, but it went away on its own.
slithy, I hope u feel ok during these last few weeks of pregnancy. do u mind me asking why u had cs at 36 weeks last time?
theonlyseven, I think they will only induce for medical reasons. lots of curries, pineapple, bouncing, walking & shagging for u ;)
ella, my dp was being a knob last night, too. I had dd1 on wed and was absolutely exhausted, so did nothing yesterday. dp was stressing out about all this diy he is trying to get done and resented the fact I just had a day chilling and said I whinge too much. he gets the rationale that dd1 needs to stay in nursery 3 days a week to kep up her routine and doesn't freak out when we pack her off full time when baby arrives, but dp doesn't think I should be resting. ...well, he thinks I should be doing chores and having little rests. hello! 38 weeks pregnant! when else is it ok to be a bit lazy?? when u r carrying a giant baby around, and are about to have minimal sleep because u will be up every 3 hrs feeding a baby. he was being such a dick. he has no idea how it feels at this stage and how little u can actually do

ilovemonstersinc · 29/08/2014 15:26

Good luck lh! Bigger is easier Blush

ds1 was 8lb7 (not a good birth) ds2 8lb13 (again not a good time) ds3 9lb5 and brilliant birth! 2 and half hours once contractions got going and out within 2 pushes. Just go with thr flow and dont be scared it hurts if you hold back trust me.

Good luck to all those who are labouring!

holls2000 · 29/08/2014 15:52

Beccus - my DH thinks I should be getting on with jobs. He doesn't seem to realise that after a day at work I am zonked and good for nothing. Oh no. Dinner to cook, washing to do, ironing to be done....really irritates me.

whiteblossom · 29/08/2014 16:34

Back in hospital. Waters have gone. Ive got until tomorrow to start labour. On the plus side mw said I have amazing skin, I could have 6 kids or twins and I wouldn't get a stretch mark Smile
Its my birthday tomorrow- what were the chances?!! Ffs Hmm

LH1981 · 29/08/2014 17:13

Thanks ILove x

DearDinah · 29/08/2014 17:37

Good luck white & everyone else in the throws of labour!
I've had another scan today, still breech, so had a pre op ready for Monday, didn't realise it means I won't be the one to change her first nappy or give a bath, hope DH gets the chance too.

Hi all! Good luck white and LH !

My waters went at around 7.30pm on Wednesday. Had been having contractions/tightening pains all day. Rang the hospital who said to go in, cue a big panic working out who was going to take DS!

Got to hospital and didn't have long to wait before went through to the assessment cubicle, where they noticed meconium in the amniotic fluid so along with my previous c sec history decided to keep me in.

Got moved to my own private ensuite room with twinkly lights in the ceiling! Asked for an epidural once I saw the doctor but the anaesthetist was in theatre so I laboured to 3cm dilated with just gas and air and it bloody hurt! Eventually the anaesthetist arrived and he was lively, really happy and chatty and called me thin so I instantly liked him haha.

Once the epidural was in I went for a snooze, woke up and the midwife examined me, I was 10cm and ready to start pushing! Started pushing but found it difficult to tell when I was having a contraction because of the epidural, so had to rely on feeling my tummy to feel when it went hard and the monitor telling me when I was having a contraction.

Had about 20 pushes, it was all very calm and pain free thanks to the epidural. However the doctor only gave me an hour to push as they didn't want to stress the scar on my womb so once that passed she came in to help with ventouse and episiotomy. The relief when baby's head was out was amazing!

After the birth I had a PPH (post partum haemorrhage) and it got very scary when the midwife pressed the alarm button and loads of people rushed in. I was transferred to HDU where I passed more blood and had 2 blood transfusions. I've just had my catheter out, feeling loads better and heading up to the general post natal ward tonight hopefully!

Breast feeding wise it's not going great, he's latched on thee times but only one side, but he's already doing better at this stage than DS did. He's not waking for feeds and isn't really keen on the idea of feeding, it takes a long time to get him to latch and he doesn't feed for long. He's due a feed now actually so I'm going to go do that!

Cindy5389 · 29/08/2014 18:47

Good luck to everyone in labour!

Just had my 38week mw appt. baby is 3/5 palpable. It's my first baby. Anyone know how quickly baby engages to the point where labour starts? Apparently that's the same measurement as two weeks ago, although I would say surely baby must have engaged more as I can feel more pressure now and hips have started to hurt a lot more.

Only 1 more day at work left - I finish on Monday so at least I have the weekend off first. I worked 4 days this week and today I really felt it. I had previously used AL to work part time, but in my wisdom at the early stages of pregnancy I thought I could cope with doing 4 days.

Has everyone else had health visitor visits/calls before they have the baby? I asked at appt today and apparently they r really busy so was handed all the leaflets/red book incase they don't get a chance to see me b4 I have the baby (I only got them because I bumped into one of the ladies that was on my NCT course who is a HV, so she got them for me!) I can't believe how many babies r due in my area stretching all services. Am slightly stressing about the hospital being full when I go into labour!!

Thanks for sharing your story twos. Does sound like it got a bit scary there with the PPH - I have to say that is a particular fear of mine. Glad that it was all handled well though! Fingers crossed breastfeeding gets better!

Good luck White and LH! I am sooo jealous Grin

That sounds frightening Two but glad you are doing better now.

CumbrianExile · 29/08/2014 19:14

Sorry Cbmb I missed that your waters had broken! Good luck too Grin

TheOnlySeven · 29/08/2014 19:53

Hi serotonin.

cindy I think most people have the first HV appointment before the baby comes, I saw mine about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately first babies can engage days or even weeks before labour starts. Increased pressure would say the baby is probably more engaged, but the hip pain is caused by the hormone relaxin being produced making your joints looser ready for giving birth.

DS cried tonight because he wants the baby to come now, I've realised how awful it was of me to have expected the baby to come early, I'm essentially already a week and a half overdue and could still have over 4 weeks to go :(

slithytove · 29/08/2014 20:17

Thank you all for your kind comments, I really hope I haven't scared anyone.

Good luck cbmb, LH and blossom, so exciting!

Beccus, I had a section early for a couple of reasons. After the still birth, I couldn't mentally cope going full term, so we were always planning on inducing around 38 weeks. However, at my 36 week scan, DS was found to be breech for the first time, and I had a touch of poly. They brought me in 2 days later for an ecv, but he had turned cephalic again. Because he was spinning, they decided to induce me the next day. I had steroids, and went in for my induction at 36+2. It failed completely so they insisted on a section.

Incidentally, if I knew then what I knew now, I would have declined both the induction and the section. But I was too scared.

Love your story two, congratulations again!

Well today DH and I have cooked up a storm! 4 portions of 6 different meals are now nestling in the freezer, hopefully going to make my life easier in those early days.

Need to gut the garage, pack bags, and clean the house, and I just might be ready for this baby to come! 38 weeks today and midwife came over last night, all is well.

Funny story actually, and a bit tmi Blush Grin
Last night, baby suddenly dropped and I could really feel her in my pelvis. What with DD being breech and DS not going past 36 weeks, this is totally new to me. I was having practice contractions at the same time, and the pressure was just insane - I actually thought labour was starting and I properly panicked.

Turned out I just needed a big poo Grin so glamorous!

Teabiscuits · 29/08/2014 20:57

Good luck to all those in labour! White probably not how you imagined spending your birthday but as a positive, best present ever!

twos thanks for sharing. Sounds scary but glad your feeling better now.

theonly don't feel bad. With your past history it's only natural you thought this one would be early too. Hope it happens soon for you.

Emma is now 10 days old (it's flying by!) and today was the first time that DS (14 months) has really interacted with her. MIL got some lovely pictures of him stroking her head and smiling and her. The older 2 (7 and 5) have been besotted since day 1 but he's mostly ignored her until now!

TheOnlySeven · 29/08/2014 21:06

Thanks tea. How lovely that your DS is starting to interact with her now, is he jealous at all? My DD2 is 15 months and still very clingy/cuddly so I'm expecting her to be quite jealous. DD1 was 17 months when DD2 was born and surprised us all by being really protective of her, I think she thought she was her baby!

ilovemonstersinc · 29/08/2014 21:27

Two take it easy. I lost 2.5l with ds2 and felt shit for ages. Had the blood transfusions which helped but still had to watch what I did. Don't try to do too much too soon x
