morocco · 05/10/2006 10:11

hello everyone
don't suppose you remember me by now but every now and then I get to go on the computer at the library while the kids are both in nursery, so at last I can catch up with you all.
Hope you are all doing well, sorry to hear about the bleeding fatfox, I had a couple of retroplacental bleeds last time (which I guess is what your doc meant by the placenta moving)and it hurt really badly when it happened then I had fresh blood then later on over a couple of weeks it was older blood coming from the bruise that had formed behind the placenta. If that doesn't sound like your bleeding, then I'd imagine the first doctor is more right about the cervical erosion. either way, you deserve to be told what's going on. good luck!
how's it going in the Uk laidback? sorry to hear about your friends baby being born early - hope they are doing well. It does make you worry, I know we were in a similar situation when we had our kids abroad - I worried up to week 38 I think. I always tried to ignore the whole idea and rely on medical insurance and a quick air evacuation, even though that's not as quick as you could like in reality sometimes.

novadandypowder · 05/10/2006 10:11

Sorry ladies, I can't pretend to have read everything either. Any free time I have at the moment is spent sleeping, if I come on here I'd end up wasting a few hours of precious rest.

Been having a traumatic time trying to get noo settled into nursery. We're both suffering really bad separation anxiety, and she's started waking at night again due to the upset in routine. I have to keep trying though as I need that break 4 mornings a week, and think she will benefit in the long term. It's just sooooo hard to leave a screaming child.

Been having terribe back ache but think this may be down to picking up noo. Sickness is definitly better than it was at this stage last time, but still hits me some mornings.

Onilly - I did my degree, was doing quite well in my job, but was actually very happy to leave it all behind me to be a SAHM. I love being with noo, the only reason she's in part time nursery is because DH isn't always around to help and I need some rest in the mornings. Also think it will help her adjust to not being the centre of the universe when the new baby comes, and I think she gets a bit bored at home with me all day. I was doing a p/t volunteer job before I got pg this time but am having a break due to the sickness. I fully intend to go back to helping them when I feel better, and hope to retrain with them when kids are in school (very long term plan!). My DH is lucky in some ways as he runs a company so although he is very busy at times, he can also be quite flexible with his hours and come home at lunch, take the odd day off, be home for her bedtime bottle etc.

Hope everyone else is ok

15+1

Welcome back Morocco and Jaysecond - we have missed you !!

I am feeling a bit more upbeat today.Talked to DH last night who has said that we can come back whenever I want to if I want to have the bairn in the UK(even though it will be slap bang in the surfing season so a big sacrifice for him !!)

Hunter Wellies Kitty - I say !!

Nova - glad to hear that you are getting some rest - I'm sure it will get better with leaving your little noo .

Rosy make sure you get a nap - or you will be a gibbering wreck like I was yesterday ! It's hard when they are ill isn't it ?

Diva - I have worked in family therapy before and if you are asked a question that you feel is intrusive - ask sweetly " I am really interested in how this issue may have affected my child could you explain a little bit more to me please ?" It might focus their mind IYKWIM !!

I am off to Cornwall for a few days so unless thre is an internet cafe in the village I will probably be off radar until Tuesday. Take care everyone.

AmieR · 05/10/2006 10:42

Make sure you have a relaxing time Laidback! I love Cornwall!

onilly · 05/10/2006 10:53

hi all

Fatfox, sounds like it was a productive consultation. Good news.

Diva, what joy, being turned inside out.... blimey. Stick to your guns, you know your kiddo the best.

Nova, thanks for the advice, again its good to hear how you have all adjusted your life. It seems do-able.... I might be able to pull it off after all !

Right - Chapter VI - Screening Saga - The end
Got my results back today. It looks good.
I have been given a negative risk for Downs 1 : 950
Negative for Edwards Syndrome, Negative for Nural complications (Spina Bifida)
They have made the recommendation to not have an amnio, and suggested kindly that I stop obsessing...
So, over to the wise MNers - that looks ok, for a 36 year old hag ? Any views ?

Evenhope - FABBO news. I am sure we just have an inbuilt worry mechanism!

divastrop · 05/10/2006 10:56

Jaysecond · 05/10/2006 11:02

morning all, thanks for all the wishes and thoughts!

I to had a bad night, DD has got a horrid cold and i think she is just 'peaking' with it so i was up trying to console every hour ish

settleing in now to the new house and starting to think about refitting the kitchen, have decided to start after cristmas, but am in the process of sourcing a builder and structual engineer.....i dont do things by half, have ambitions to knock out walls, raise floor levels and put in new windows....lets hope it gets done b4 the baby gets here!

Miserable day out today, DH is away in Holland with work and i intend not to do a great deal, have cereal for dinner and then get an early night without feeling guilty!

Whats everyone up to today?

eidsvold · 05/10/2006 11:03

not caught up on all the messages - just popped on quickly. Hope all is going well with everyone. I am so tired BUT yeh - dh is due home tomorrow morning. WIll be picking him up about 1am yout time. At the moment he is in Singapore hopefully buying me a gorgeous handbag duty free at the airport.

I am off to make some rocky road as a welcome home treat for him.

Dds are excited. They cheered this morning when I told them daddy was on the plane on his way home!! They were a little reluctant to go to bed tonight.

15 weeks tomorrow.

Had some movement early on around 13/14 weeks but not felt much - howeve rnot worried as I have been rushing around with the dds.

Hoping to be able to go back to the gym once dh is back - at least once a week - can't go any more - chid care issue with them...long story. SO hope that will help keep the weight at bay.

LunarSea · 05/10/2006 11:07

jaysecond - just don't stress about it. As far as I can see there's no rhyme or reason to weight gain in pregnancy - your body will just do what it thinks is right, regardless of what you want/do.

Last time I put on 2 stone in the first 11 weeks, and then couldn't shift any of it (actually gained more) after miscarrying. This time I'd obviously already done the gaining that my body feels is necessary to be pregnant as I haven't gained any yet.

Rosylily · 05/10/2006 11:13

Eidsvold you are on the final stretch well done you deserve a new handbag!

Jaysecond that's really exciting about your kitchen but I bet it wouldn't be done in time for baby and timing could be a bit crazy!!! You need to get started right NOW I reckon!

kittywits · 05/10/2006 11:23

Diva, I'll check out your thread

oh yes, hunters wellies, I might get myself a pair too as my fat preggie feet don't fit my old wellies any more

jay, the weight thing is strange. With my sucessful pregs my weight gains have been very different. With babies 1&2 I didn't put on much and didn't take too long to get babck to normAL. baby three I was huge very quickly AND TOOK AGES TO LOSE IT. Preg 4 not much weight gain. Preg 5 , huge quickly, biggest baby. With this preg i thought I was piling it on initially and then when the midwife weighed me yesterday I hadn't put anything on for two weeks. What I'm saying is that it's my body that seems to decide on the weight business not me and I have no control over it. My cravings are the same with each baby. I'm guessing this baby will be more like pregs 2 and 4. I've popped out belly wise twice this week. I was beginning to worry that I wasn't showing much so i did a bit of "growing baby thoughts", it always works, and I have a huge belly growth spurt this week.

have to dash, will catch up with the rest of you later

anniediv · 05/10/2006 11:27

Still not showing, Kittywits, I think this must be a skinny little boy! Put on loads with dd3 despite the hyperemesis as I was on steroids from week 15 to the end. Not normal weight gain though as I looked 'puffy'. Amazing that we are all so different....

Hello to everyone else, I'm not trawling through and namechecking! Will do it like a radio request "...and everyone else who knows me...!"

Whoowhoobewhooooooh · 05/10/2006 11:41

Morning girls.

Welcome back to nova, jay and morocco.

Am excited as apparently baby may be able to open his eyes now (it's been seen in scans from 18 weeks). DH is coming home tonight and digging out the torch. Bit mean, I
think.

I think I'm showing lots, but I've been wearing very baggy clothes (mainly DH's t-shirts), and so some people still don't notice, which is a pain in the arse on the bus. Think I'll start wearing tops that are too small for me, rubbing my back and groaning in order to get a seat.

Right: I'm off to walk the dog. This is my favourite time of year for walks. Think I'll pick up some conkers.

AmieR · 05/10/2006 11:46

I'm a little overweight, have been for a while, but mananged to lose a bit before falling pregnant, which I feel actually helped me get pregnant, and you wouldn't know I was almost half way through! No change at all! I'm sure suddenly I'll have a bump and I'll miss my the sight of my feet again!

Only gained a few lbs.. which suits me just fine (as long as everything in ok with the LO), as I'm hoping to get back on track with the weight loss after giving birth, when I'm up to it of course!

Its so interesting to see how true it actually is that no pregnancy is the same and it really is different for everyone!

Does any one here have or have had experience with any mamma and pappa's prams/pushchairs/travel system.. what ever they are called these days?

spongecake · 05/10/2006 12:50

hi everyone hope you are ok- been offline fighting my isp, just back.... am at home for a week or so revising and resting from work. still cross with bosses for laughing at me as if baby due april 6 & after get 9 months maternity not 6. and am so hungry all the time wonder if enough room for baby anyway feel like winnie the pooh as its always time for a little something..

spongecake · 05/10/2006 12:57

oops.. forgot to ask is anyone else bursting into tears at the most stupid tiny thing, being unable to stop crying then 10 minutes later alright again? my poor dh is beside himself as he can't do anything- except cuddles- do you think it upsets the baby?

TheBlonde · 05/10/2006 13:03

Hi all

I'm on here every day and find it hard to keep up with all the msgs!

Sponge - I am crying all the time, at big and small things, 5 mins of Xfactor set me off at the weekend

anniediv · 05/10/2006 13:04

Me too, theblonde, but don't worry we are not alone, there was a whole 'crying at the x factor' thread!

TheBlonde · 05/10/2006 13:07

Annie - I don't even watch the xfactor I was just flicking channels so was too to post on that thread!!

I'm a bit teary today as my cousin had her baby today, 6 weeks early I think, only 4lb and I'm not sure how they are doing. Bit worried

anniediv · 05/10/2006 13:10

4lb is quite a good weight for one so early but I can imagine you're very worried. Let us know how they get on.

fatfox · 05/10/2006 13:50

Hi everyone - haven't caught up with your posts yet, but will later.

Jaysecond, stay with us M'Dear, we miss you when you're not here for a while. I'm always falling apart on here so just remember you're amongst friends.

Bleeding has stopped. Started anti-biotics for infection. GP just called and he has faxed letter to QC. I will call them about 4pm to chase

Catch up later as I'm actually at work today for a change

AngeG · 05/10/2006 15:44

Hello everyone -sorry to gatecrash i'm from the April thread, but my last baby came 6wks early so have been reading this one as well!

Had to post for The Blonde -as I said above my ds came 6wks early weighing 2lbs 10oz he spent 3 weeks in special care, but is now 3 and absolutely fine. Just wanted to give you some reassurance.

fatfox - so glad the bleeding has stopped you must be so relieved.

Again sorry to gatecrash. Hope you're all ok.

Ange
14wks

leogaela · 05/10/2006 16:16

Gatcrashers allways welcome AngeG.

Theblonde - big congratulations to your cousin on the birth of their baby. I hope you get news soon that all is OK.

Jaysecond - when is your dh back? It sounds as if you need a big cuddle from him and for him to tell you that you are a wonderful beautiful woman (which i am sure you are). Hope you get a better night sleep tonight. Take care of yourself.

Its so true about preganancies being totally different. This time my body has also reacted really differently, funnily enough although its twins, the symptoms and signs (apart from tiredness) have been less extreme. Also last pregnancy my sex drive went through the roof, sadly this time it had dropped through the floor , For me last time that was one of the best bits about being pregnant !

Jaysecond · 05/10/2006 16:41

hey, fatfox i'll stay around dont worry reading the thread everyday is better than any celeb magazine, and i wouldnt wantt o miss out on any of the sagas that go on. Very happy for you that your bleeding has stopped, it must have been a worry for you, even if you kinda knew what it was about, its always better when things run smoothly!

Leo, my sex drive is diff from my first pregnancy, in that its kinda dwindled, but DH is a star and he does give me lots of cuddles. He goes away every few weeks with work, its only for two/three nights but sometimes that feels like a lifetime in its self! Hes quite supportive on the whole and actually loves me being pregnant!

theblonde and annie, i am teary all te boody time, it drives me round the bend, crying from coranation street to seeing a advert with baby chicks mind you its not just the tears its the jelly mind, i went to put the kettle in the fridge last night........doh!

kittywits · 05/10/2006 17:35

I put two pairs of contact lenses in each eye the other day. tTok me a while to work out why I coudn't see anything
