Hello

Having had 5 mcs and 1 DD I am not feeling very hopeful (juest realistic) even though I am doing different things than before...

4w today and on cyclogest pessaries since CD21...

Maybe we could have a separate thread to the biiiig one so we don't scare the others with our (my) negativity...

Welcome

TinyTear, 40, 1 DD, 5mcs, due in April but don't want to know the exact day...

So your lovely sonographer deals solely with people who are worried about mcs? I wonder if she gets irritated with the patient at doing an internal because there is nothing on an abdominal scan because it stopped growing weeks before?

Should really be doing work! Spent a while googling nuchal thicknesses earlier. Not healthy!

LondonSuperTrooper · 03/10/2014 13:15

LIG have you had your scan yet?

Tiny not long to go now - hang in there!

LittleBairn · 03/10/2014 13:19

LIG step away from the google no good will come of it. I must learn to take my own advice.

My oddest scan expereince was having a trans vaginal, the sonographer had to go out the rooms twice once to bring in another songrapher and then to check with the consultant all the while leaving the wand inside me Hmm it was very odd.
I mentioned it to my new consultant and senior midwife (I was wondering if that could have kicked off my labour) they laughed with shock and said no not normal at all and would never happen at that hospital. They did say it was unlikely to have caused any issues just bad practice.

LondonSuperTrooper · 03/10/2014 13:28

Well ladies you will be pleased to know that I have now complained about my experience. Further to the email that I sent this work, a lady called me back from the clinic and was very apologetic.

She offered to repeat yesterday's scan for me but due to work commitments and DS school runs, it'll be too tricky for me to fit in before my nuchal scan. To be honest I'd rather have a reduction in the fees that I paid yesterday. That option wasn't offered and didn't ask as she caught me as I was just about to go into a meeting. Plus, the money was not the issue, but the disrespectful treatment that I received was. I'm still gutted that I didn't get a photo :(

She said she will have a word with the doctor as well as the chap who runs the clinic. She will also google to see what the reviews are like as I mentioned that I came across 3 other ladies who had a similar experience to me.

LondonSuperTrooper · 03/10/2014 13:29

LIG I agree, stop googling! You will drive yourself barmy!

LittleBairn · 03/10/2014 14:00

London I would email her a request for a refund is a matter of principle you shouldn't have to pay for such treatment. I'm disappointed for you that it wasn't offered.

TinyTear · 03/10/2014 14:02

Oh I wonder if I should leave a review somewhere. Or if she will find this thread...

LondonSuperTrooper · 03/10/2014 14:06

Little, good idea I will email her.

Tiny she will FIND this thread.

LittleBairn · 03/10/2014 14:09

Ah crampy feeling again. I was fine for a few days but it seems to have started up again. I'm keeping a diary if it.
Has anyone had one of the scan (on the NHS) where they look at blood flow to the placenta? I'm thinking I should request one.

LondonSuperTrooper · 03/10/2014 14:12

Tiny are you going to leave a review? If so let me know where & I'll add mine too.

Little I have emailed her. Thanks for your advice :)

TinyTear · 03/10/2014 14:18

I'm in a meeting but can't find anywhere to leave reviews...

Yes. Had the Doppler scans last time with dd.

This time I think they are doing them more frequently as regular in my hospital

Hi all long time since I have posted, so have a lot to catch up on.

Congrats to those who have had successful scans, and good luck to those still waiting.

The reason for my absence was that I was suffering from awful sickness, cramping and thick deep red/ brown blood loss. Our hospital don't scan unless you are sent through A&E which meant a three hour wait with DD in toll, sitting surrounded by bumps, babies and sick people. And that was last place I wanted to sit when I was feeling liked world was about to crash down around me again!

I was told by someone kindly that they had the same thing with their mmc and it was their body trying to reject it.

So have spent the last few weeks stressing, but as we had our NHS scan booked in and figured that if something had gone wrong we wouldn't be able to do anything about it anyway. We waited for scan, and I decided just to stay away from anything pregnancy related for a while.

Anyway I am pleased to tell you that we had our nuchel today, which showed a very wriggly baby, with a strong hb. Cried my way through it. Scanographer was very nice and we also had a student so got to have a real in depth scan done. She mentioned fibroids and that may be where the bleeding had come from. But for now we a ticking along nicely. Still have that feeling that things won't be real until I am finally holding this baby, but feeling much calmer about it and allowing myself to think ahead to 20 week scan etc. Which before today I was in denial about.

Scan today puts me at 13+4 so a day ahead of the scan at 7 weeks.

I'll have a read through and catch up on everyone's progress. Really sorry of I missed anything.

Take Care Ladies x

All went well (I think). There is a live and kicking baby with all its main body parts and an amazing ability to do somersaults and an inability to stay still. They also said my uterus tipped back which was on an earlier scan but never had it with dd Confused. Unfortunately, that meant that they couldn't measure it from end to end and so couldn't do the nuchal bit. The nuchal translucency looked good though (from my experience of looking at scan pics and the sonographers opinion) so hoping there is nothing to worry about. Got a downs syndrome blood test and rescan in 3 weeks. Was in there for a couple of hours so got a good chance to see it wave and wiggle. Think I feel happy but feel a bit anxious that we didn't do the nuchal bit and don't have a due date. Not sure what I would do if it was a high risk for downs anyway.

Hope it is going well tiny

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 03/10/2014 17:03

Lovely to read all the good scan news.

little they checked the blood flow when I had my 12 week scan, they listened to it and I could see it on the monitor. Im sorry your having cramps, I was really crampy between 8-10 weeks and it stressed me out.

Hope your scan is going well tiny

TinyTear · 03/10/2014 17:05

All OK
And low risk for all trisomies tested.

We can ask the receptionist to call the us and will hopefully get the gender next week as I hadn't asked before...

Baby was upside down and not cooperating much but he did external then internal then external again and got it all.

Also did the blood flow and really detailed one.

London this was a male doctor and he was lovely. Not a word about my flab, explained all he was doing, was lovely and reassuring. For the internal part got a female chaperone and she was also nice and friendly. A world of difference from little miss Spanish...

Great news LIG. The doctor made a joke about the full moon as he said the past 2 days babies have been mostly uncooperative...

Brilliant news LIG tinytear and teachers Grin

Glad you've complained london

coastergirl · 03/10/2014 17:48

Thanks for not minding me butting in!

Yes LIG, everything has been fine after my early scares, thanks for asking. Had my 12 week scan a few weeks ago when I actually turned out to be 13+4 and all was good. Had my 16 week midwife appointment today and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time. The midwife found it straight away despite it being a little early at 15+6 and despite most of my flab being on my belly!

London I'm glad you have complained. Your treatment really was appalling, and for some reason it seems even worse that you had to pay for such awful treatment!

I'm glad you are all getting good news at your scans!

LIG1979 · 03/10/2014 18:01

Glad it was good news tiny. good they managed to deal with your uncooperative baby.

teacher - good to have you back. Sorry you have had such a tough time of it but glad you have got to your nuchal and all is well. Also good to have a reason for the bleeding.

After spending the afternoon looking up nuchals and nasal bone (which look fine), I had had the dilemma about whether to try again to get the nuchal done privately( £200) or wait till the 15 week scan and quad test. It does look to be less reliable at predicting downs etc. but still not sure what we would do if it was bad news.

looking on the bright side, I get another chance to see my baby for free before I can feel movements. Grin
