Hello

Having had 5 mcs and 1 DD I am not feeling very hopeful (juest realistic) even though I am doing different things than before...

4w today and on cyclogest pessaries since CD21...

Maybe we could have a separate thread to the biiiig one so we don't scare the others with our (my) negativity...

Welcome

TinyTear, 40, 1 DD, 5mcs, due in April but don't want to know the exact day...

1.30pm tiny. Yours is later isn't it?

Private hospitals are much nicer places to wait. Also, they allow a much larger time between patients so are less likely to be late. I am glad to have avoided the nhs hospital so far as I hate the waiting room!

TinyTear · 01/10/2014 13:24

4h30 for mine...

My NHS hospital improved since i had my DD, they now have free WiFi on the waiting room so I can work (and MN) while waiting...

Even mobile reception was patchy so happy for the wifi!

Nothing like that in my hospital. The 3G reception is even patchy so limited internet browsing. My local hospital is a little bit grim aesthetically but the drs etc. seem good which is the main thing. Although they have had a big investment since my last visit so it may have improved. It does have a lovely paediatric a&e which is important with a fearless toddler.

TinyTear · 01/10/2014 13:32

Ah yes, the paediatric a&e... used to be a regular too... including on my 40th and on DH's 40th Grin
she knows to pick the dates...

Good luck LIG and tiny for tomorrow. I've got a scan tomorrow as well. Around 11 I think. I have a sense of impending doom that I'm really struggling with. I've also got an extremely upset stomach today, not sure if it's nerves or something I've eaten.

LondonSuperTrooper · 01/10/2014 14:01

Tiny tomorrow I will most likely arrive flustered, hot & bothered. I'm allowing myself 10mins to walk from Regent St tube station to the clinic - that's enough time isn't it?

CareBear I also have an upset tummy. I initially blamed it on all the Moam Joystixx that I ate last night Blush but now I'm now so sure......

TinyTear · 01/10/2014 14:05

10 minutes is enought time, yes, i think it was more like less than 5

carebear it's London tomorrow, LIG and I are Friday!

Good luck on your one too... and yes, I have been having a dodgy tummy for 10 weeks ;-)
it's nerves!

LondonSuperTrooper · 01/10/2014 14:27

Thanks Tiny, I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow. Let's hope that beanie is still hanging in there.

LIG are you having your 12 week scan on Friday?

LittleBairn · 01/10/2014 15:31

I'm jealous of the nice waiting rooms, at myhospital its a small area in the middle of a hallway that's extremely busy amd crowded (they have closed a lot of maternity facilities in the area over the years) and they say you may need to wait 2-3 hours for your appointment. And my appointments are every two weeks. I'm going to take my knitting and my iPad.

LittleBairn · 01/10/2014 15:33

London good luck for the scan. Mine is on Tue and I'm already getting nervous. Could the tummy trouble be nerves?

LondonSuperTrooper · 01/10/2014 15:43

Thanks Little :)

I also have another scan this coming Monday... and then nothing until the NHS Nuchal scan on 14 October.

DS was asking me last night if he can have a brother (he is 7 yo). I almost told him that hopefully he will have a sibling but had to bite my tongue. DH & I agreed that we will not tell him or the rest of the family until I get the all clear from my Harmony scan - more than 2 weeks away. Right now this seems like a lifetime away.

lila35 · 01/10/2014 15:45

Good luck tomorrow Carebear, it will be here before you know it!

Little Bairn, poor you that sounds miserable a 2/3 hour wait. My last scan was nhs and they were running perfectly to time, heres hoping the same for you.

Hope you're not driving yourselves to crazy London and Tiny.

CareBearWithFangs · 01/10/2014 16:21

I'm so scared about the scan. I don't want to go. I think I'd rather continue to live in denial than hear any bad news.

I've got the flu jab booked for this evening too. Anyone else having it?

London you must be so tempted. My DD talks about siblings daily, I am so desperate to give her one. She has imaginary brothers called Luke and Poop.

My hospital sounds like yours little, it's not even a waiting room just a busy corridor really.

LondonSuperTrooper · 01/10/2014 16:45

CareBear you have my sympathies as I'm exactly the same as you.

I'm not having the flu jab.

I'm not sure what my hospital is like at all - I've never been there before!

LIG1979 · 01/10/2014 17:12

I'm another one not having a flu jab. I had one for about 4 years and every year I had it, I had bed ridden for days type flu and I would be off work for 1-3 weeks. Stopped having it about 8 years ago and not had such a bad flu since. Thinking about giving dd her one though although not sure I could deal with a sick toddler at the moment.

Little 2/3 hours wait sounds horrendous!

I am lucky that my dd is too young to really understand the idea of a little brother/sister and ask for one. However, she does love other friends real-life 'babies' and would love one of her own to stroke, kiss and cuddle.

Carebeare - I think upset tummies are quite normal along with constipation. But it could be nerves too. I always feel especially sick on scan days but I think it is more nerves. My nausea has also picked up again and thinking it may be due to fear about Friday.

So it is London and carebear with scans tomorrow? I hope it goes well.

TinyTear · 01/10/2014 18:03

I want the flu jab but can't make it to the surgery on the days, need to check with my GP...

A very interesting booking in appointment today, I was at the hospital for three hours! The midwife was concerned about my delivery history and history of AND/PND so she wanted me to see the consultant there and then so I had to wait for an appointment. The bonus was I got two scans as the midwife and consultant both scanned me. Unfortunately they didn't have all my notes as they hadn't got the latest and most important ones out of storage yet. So they don't know why the anaesthetist decided to do a general anaesthetic rather than a spinal. They don't know what the issue was with my blood type being changed because of the abruption. And they don't know what the issue was with my uterus being a 'funny shape'. The consultant is going to have an interesting read at my next appointment! They're bringing me back at 16 weeks to do the quadruple test and see what mysteries my notes hold. But that means I won't get a 12-week scan. The consultant commented that I don't have any risk factors for placental abruption... apart from the fact that I've had two. But she confirmed that I would definitely be in for an ELCS due to my history of abruptions (which carry a 15% risk of foetal death so I'm fine with that idea). She was also concerned about my last two babies' lowish birth weights so I've been put on low dose aspirin to try and prevent placental issues. She has also recommended that I go on to antidepressants from 16-17 weeks. And as an afterthought I have been booked in for an oral glucose tolerance test on the 5th January. It's all a bit overwhelming really, I didn't have any of this stuff in my previous pregnancies.

10w+2

TinyTear · 01/10/2014 18:43

Wow what an adventure...

I have two glucose tolerance tests booked already and today came home to a letter saying I have an appointment with a blood specialist on the 7th November but by then I will be off clexane for a month so not sure why I need it...

LittleBairn · 01/10/2014 19:07

stuntman no wonder you feel overwhelmed it sounds like you were bombarded with information today.
I'm on Asprin too bit of a pain it kicks off my reflux but I'm used to it now. Its fairly standard in women who have had repeat MC or placenta problems.

How do you feel about the anti-Ds? Don't feel pressured just because they reccomended something.

LittleBairn · 01/10/2014 19:08

Oh and I'm another not having flu jab either, I. Mostly at home now amd don't feel it will benefit me.

LittleBairn · 01/10/2014 19:10

I'm.

Shetland · 01/10/2014 19:45

Blimey stuntman That sounds like a lot of things to think about. At least you know they are on top of things and taking care of you.

Lots of scans coming up....

I'm fine with smells but I have a horrible taste in my mouth most if the time which makes me feel a bit ill. I'm getting through chewing gum at quite a rate!!

TinyTear · 02/10/2014 07:05

Good luck today London and CareBear!!

Good luck with scans today london and care thinking of you both x

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 02/10/2014 07:16

Just had a quick read back and wanted to add - I am having the flu jab. Have done for years ( nhs worker) The vaccine doesn't contain the live virus and is therefore perfectly safe in pregnancy. Personal choice of course but I would want to do everything possible to avoid contracting proper flu (I hate it when people claim to have flu when it's a bad cold!) at anytime, let alone when pregnant!
