Hello

Having had 5 mcs and 1 DD I am not feeling very hopeful (juest realistic) even though I am doing different things than before...

4w today and on cyclogest pessaries since CD21...

Maybe we could have a separate thread to the biiiig one so we don't scare the others with our (my) negativity...

Welcome

TinyTear, 40, 1 DD, 5mcs, due in April but don't want to know the exact day...

good luck with scan oneday - and with lunch stuntman :-)

Shetland · 27/09/2014 09:36

Good luck oneday

stunt - good luck for you as well. It seems like you've thought it all through and can see the positives over the negatives so maybe just tell him that.

LIG1979 · 27/09/2014 10:11

Good luck oneday and stuntmen, I hope lunch goes well.

LondonSuperTrooper · 27/09/2014 10:13

LIG many thanks for contacting your friend on my behalf- really appreciate it. After my complete panic yesterday I'm somewhat calmer. The cleft palate defects occurs between 6-8 weeks so it's too late to fret about it as I'm 10 weeks tomorrow. DH is not helping or being rational though. He wants me to stop taking the tablets now!

Oneday best of luck with your scan.

Stuntman You sound like you've got your hands full! good luck with breaking the news to DH.

LondonSuperTrooper · 27/09/2014 10:18

Tiny thanks for the reassurance. Mr Shatata's nurse also says that she hasn't come across the defects mentioned.

I'll have to wait till Monday to give out when Mr S wants to wean off the steroids.

Also, I've been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knee and both of my feet :( I've been recommended to start Pilate and to immediately cut out sugar - steroids increases the risk of diabetes.

I've already started looking into lessons in my local area but it isn't cheap at £10/ lesson!

LondonSuperTrooper · 27/09/2014 14:13

How did you get on with your scan Oneday?

Stuntman how did your DH take the news of your pregnancy?

Stuntman · 27/09/2014 17:38

I've been doing Pilates for about a year London recovering from sciatica and hip bursitis. If doesn't look like you're doing much but it does wonders for your abs and lower back. I'm not sure if does a lot for my knees but it definitely doesn't hurt them.

Mr Stunt did not take the news well. He looked pretty devastated actually. He'll need some time to get used to the idea but he was quite negative talking about sleepless nights and not being able to buy a new car next year. Hmm I'm sure he'll come round, well he'll have to won't he?

I told my dad today too. He said I'd better make sure it was a girl this time. And I did know there were ways of preventing these things didn't i? Shock Bloody great, I'm not telling anybody else now.

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 27/09/2014 18:35

Hi ladies

Just popping in to let you know scan went well, little wriggly 10 week old blob waving at us! Such a relief. Was amazing to see the movement and that it had literally doubled in size since 8 weeks.

Still don't have a date for my 12 week scan so will be chasing this up next week

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 27/09/2014 18:35

Oh stuntman im sorry your dh didnt take it well and im sure your dad meant well and didnt realise what his comment sounded like.

when I told my nan her first comment was "god no" I cant say I was too happy with her Hmm she did eventually realise what she had said and explained she was just worried that id got pregnant so soon after my miscarriage.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 27/09/2014 18:36

Crosspost oneday im so happy for you Grin

Shetland · 27/09/2014 18:42

That's great news oneday Grin

Sorry your DH didn't take it so well stuntman - but he probably just needs some time to get used to the idea.

lila35 · 27/09/2014 19:13

Oh Stuntman, you should drown yourself in tea ( decaff Wink ) and chocolate, he'll get his head around it soon enough!

Great news oneday!!!

Well I am feeling better but not as good as I felt at the beginning of the week, I guess I just have to accept the really good days are few and most of the time you just get through it! We got confirmation that we are low risk of Downs etc today, so now I just have to trust that all is well, that my bloated tummy will eventually be baby rather than fat and that this little one is still growing, although I might just check the stats for later mc to reassure me.

LondonSuperTrooper · 27/09/2014 19:17

Oh Stuntman I'm sorry to hear that. He's probably just shocked as it's unexpected news. And it sounds like you have a busy life with your 3 other boys. He just needs time to get his head around the idea of a new baby. As for your dad he probably just wants a granddaughter and didn't phrase it v diplomatically.

Fab news Oneday :) Best of luck in chasing for your 12 week scan.

Who's having scans next week then? I'm having my harmony on Thursday afternoon!!

TinyTear · 27/09/2014 20:19

Great news oneday
Sorry about that stunt, hope he will come round quickly. As you say, if he thought so strongly about it he should have used a condom.

I have my scan Friday and also get harmony result... Nervous is an understatement

LondonSuperTrooper · 27/09/2014 20:34

Oh gosh Tiny I forgot about that! Yours is at 4.30 too, 24hrs after mine. When are you having the NHS nuchal scan?

TinyTear · 27/09/2014 21:09

The following Tuesday on the 7th. DH can make the NHS one, not the other...

OP posts:
LondonSuperTrooper · 27/09/2014 22:02

It's good he can make it to the scan.

I'm the opposite of you. I'm having the NHS nuchal & then the FMC scan with the harmony results 2 days after. I'm a bit nervous of receiving the news there & then. I think is rather have the results via the post. Oh and DH can't come to any of the scans :(

Shetland · 28/09/2014 07:56

A few scans coming up then!
london is your NHS 12 on Tuesday then?

I'll confess my ignorance here and say I don't know what a harmony scan is?

Good news on the downs result lila :)

LIG1979 · 28/09/2014 07:59

My 12 week scan and nuchal is next Friday at 1.30pm. Feeling quite anxious about it. Normally I panic about it being alive but this time I am also panicking about something being wrong with it. Luckily dh can come and now sorted out childcare for dd as it isn't a nursery day.

Oneday - glad it was good news.

Stuntman - sorry dh didn't take it well. How is he today now he has had some time to think about it? typical man thinking about cars!

Yesterday managed to go for a run and a long walk was feeling very virtuous till the nausea came back with a vengeance for doing too much!

TinyTear · 28/09/2014 08:12

Harmony is a non invasive blood test for downs and other trisomies.

You also get 2 scans with it.

London and I are doing it at the fetal medicine centre in Harley Street but other places do them too.

Shetland · 28/09/2014 09:07

Thanks tinytear - I'd not heard of them before this thread.

I'm impressed with the run LIG - I am feeling very very unfit at the moment.

My sickness has generally eased off, I no longer feel ill for most of the day, but when it does hit it seems worse than before - yesterday evening I felt absolutely awful. Eating helps though, which might explain my rapidly expanding bump!

LondonSuperTrooper · 28/09/2014 09:32

Yes Shetland my NHS nuchal is on a Tuesday. Not till 14 October though, let's hope that beanie hangs on till then.

Wow LIG! A long walk and a run?! That's awesome. I need to exercise but I'm under strict orders not to do anything till week 16. Hopefully by then I can start swimming & going for walks.

Stuntman how are you today?

Today I'm 10 weeks! My embryo is now a fetus :) I haven't made it this far for the last 3 pregnancies.

TinyTear · 28/09/2014 10:10

We (and the 2y8m old) walked nearly 3 miles yesterday to a big playground, although I had to have DD on my shoulders for the steepest bit as she was flagging... (and DH didn't want to carry her out of principle Grin)

Definitely deserved my ice cream

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 28/09/2014 11:51

My sickness has eased and the exhaustion is nowhere near as all consuming unless I overdo it. If I dont sit down and rest at some point during the afternoon, from 6pm onwards I feel sick and fluey.

I am 15 weeks today

Stuntman · 28/09/2014 12:45

I'm doing great London thanks for asking. This definitely isn't a typical pregnancy for me, my last four the first trimester was horrendous. This time I have hardly any MS and I'm not nearly so tired. It's funny you would think that as I'm so much older now (38 compared to 25 for my first pregnancy) it would be tougher rather than easier. I'm disappointed that DH doesn't want the baby but tbh that's tough, it's a done deal now and he'll have to get used to it. It's just that we've been having a very difficult time with the other three so it isn't easy to get excited about another baby. As for the car I really don't see why a baby means he can't have a new car next year. We have all the baby gear already and we don't need a bigger car or to move house. If it's a girl then we'll need clothes but that isn't such an expense that it would make a difference to a car loan.
