Mer I got heartburn late in my last pregnancy and the peppermint gaviscon did nothing for me. The aniseed one worked miracles though - tastes vile though!

persepolis123 · 30/07/2014 17:30

I got lots of heartburn with DS. Rennie worked for me. Tesco do an own brand one which is a fraction of the price and just as effective.

Sp1rals · 30/07/2014 17:30

Sorry to be like a stuck record but is anybody else just floored by sickness? I'm reading posts about sex and nights out and flights and am agog. I can barely take care of myself. I am constantly extremely nauseous though only occasionally sick, weak, shivery and just generally feel shit. I can't do anything. Can barely hold a conversation. Is it just me?
Somebody asked about retroverted uterus, I have one too, quite common I think. I found out when I was getting a smear and the nurse said she had to 'chase' it Confused

Mer93 · 30/07/2014 17:33

MissRee I've been giving the aniseed one, yes it does taste really bad. Just can't get over how thick it is, really hard to keep down.

persepolis123 I'll have a look into those

Sp1rals · 30/07/2014 17:33

Btw I found before that liquid Gaviscon didn't work for me but the suckable lozenges did.

MrsAmelia · 30/07/2014 17:34

MissRee ... You are totally stacked (jealous)!! I can see why they'd hurt for so long after taking the bra off. Mine hurt for the first fifteen minutes after removing my bra, and DH isn't allowed to touch within that time period. Otherwise, I find the sensitivity level of my skin in general makes for great sex, not even mentioning the nether-regions sensitivity level being out-of-this-world Blush

Pregnancy so far has had some real advantages. I swear I'd have been knocked-up a few more times over the past two weeks at the rate we're going if I wasn't already Blush. Is this normal?!?

I'm seriously turning into a naughty mumsnetter now ... Eating Cake

FoscarC · 30/07/2014 17:35

Sp1rals if you feel that awful (especially the weak and shivery part) you really should go to the doctors. I felt very nauseous for what felt like forever but seem to have got over it now I'm week 9. How far along are you? I'm still tired though.

Yes yes yes (quite literally) to the sex. Decided to try it the other week as felt bad for poor dh and had stopped feeling like I wanted to vommit when ever he touched me (not that he had mentioned it or been trying to dtd), and it was amazing!! Only managed it twice in the last couple of weeks as generally too knackered but they have both been amazing.

notoasthere · 30/07/2014 17:38

spiral I felt like utter death all day yesterday after my night out and haven't had sex since we conceived.....you aren't alone!

MrsAmelia · 30/07/2014 17:40

Sorry Sp1rals ... Sending hugs and lots of sympathy.

I can't imagine partying because I am napping like crazy in the afternoons (religiously). I'm a teacher so home for summer hols. The mere idea of staying out last 10pm makes me weep. I find myself curing at home improvement shows and animals commercials. I had nausea for the first two weeks and then nothing but abdominal stretching. I've had horrible bloating and air stuck in my abdomen. I have regular insomnia too. Now my sex drive has amped up something ridiculous.

Hope you all with MS feel better soon ... Peppermint tea is relaxing me a lot, thanks for the suggestion from here!

MrsAmelia · 30/07/2014 17:43

"Crying" is what i meant ... I cry at the stupidest things. Felt like a total idiot on the tube today because a lady had a guide dog and it was so cute. I started crying... WTF?! I tried to play it off that my eyes were suffering from pollen (as if).

F-ing autocorrect

Butterpuff · 30/07/2014 17:50

Sp1rals yes go to docs if weak and shivery, they gave me cyclozine (sp?) because I was pretty bad, I'll be honest it made me worse. But at least I know that they will do something to help if they can, you don't even need to be at the point of hospitalization.

Hope you see some improvement soon.

Have tried sex, but to be honest didn't feel much improvement. I think I was too busy concentrating on not being sick! dh is looking forward to the nausea going and the fruitiness starting.

Noideaaboutthis · 30/07/2014 17:59

MrsAmelia- I'm a teacher in south london too. Good to know there is someone else out there. It's great timing with the summer holidays - been having an afternoon nap every day.

ohfourfoxache · 30/07/2014 18:11

Sp1ral I'm still there with you too love - can barely move without feeling like I'm going to puke. Annoyingly I've been sick once but it didn't make much difference Sad

Been given metoclopramide and it's taken the very edge off it but not much more Sad

ChatEnOeuf · 30/07/2014 18:26

Sp1rals. Yes, me. You might not have wanted to hear that though Grin Constant nausea and dizziness which is temporarily relieved by eating. Mostly carbs.

Try not to freak about delivery decisions yet - most interventions are only when necessary and you can always decline (unless they are really worried about the health of you or the baby, then you'd be daft not to just let them get on with it).

FWIW, my first labour was about six hours, start to finish - my birth plan said:
Students may look but not touch
Local anaesthetic takes ages to work - be patient!
Skin to skin after the baby's been cleaned
IM vit K
Breastfeeding

It did a job, in the event of an emergency I trusted my consultant to make the right call so wouldn't dream of putting anything else on there! The obs SHO ignored point two though, bitch Hmm

FoscarC · 30/07/2014 18:45

So so exhausted. When will this stop!!!

Miffy79 · 30/07/2014 18:57

Me too Sad I never know how I'm going to get through the day at work. .took a couple of days off to try and get more sleep but still exhausted!

kettlepot · 30/07/2014 19:30

sp1rals yep! here too. DP keeps telling me a sign of strong hormones, which apparently is a good thing? Whether true or not, this has become a mantra to get me through the day. Eating hourly, and slowly, really helps. Plus eating first thing, whilst in bed. Luckily, I'm starving as well 90% of the time so not lost my appetite completely - just gone off certain foodstuffs!!

Sp1rals · 30/07/2014 19:57

Strong hormones? Angry Well to quote from Knocked Up "FUCK YOU HORMONES".

M27J5M · 30/07/2014 20:01

Every time I come on the past day or 2 I seem to have missed looooads! Tried to catch up but I literally have hundreds of posts to read so hope I haven't missed anything important! Hope everyone is well, I'm having a grumpy sicky day :(

kettlepot · 30/07/2014 20:39

sp1ral haha! Exactly! I'm just a bit concerned this might end up with me sprouting a beard... Confused

Rainbow555 · 30/07/2014 20:55

spirals me too you are not alone! Just started to gets thoughts of sex back but not had any action since we conceived. Poor DH, but I just can't even entertain the idea when I feel so sick. It is non stop from morning to night, no relief at all eat or no eat!
I am just over 7 weeks - DH keeps being very helpful and saying "well this Di what you wanted" well cheers, yes it is but not feeling this rubbish!
Docs gave me pills but they made it worse.

Yay to those that are starting to feel better and are getting fruity...hopefully the rest of us will catch up soon!

Going nowhere near the birth talk yet! Waaaay too soon!

And as for the bloating, yup gas allllll day! I think that is what makes me feel sick tbh. I have some quickeze (new zeland brand of Rennie) and they seem to work but I am starting to have an aversion to them!

Rainbow555 · 30/07/2014 20:55

Hahaha kettle me too lol!

KentExpecting · 30/07/2014 21:07

Oh God, I'm so glad some of you also get heartburn. Sorry, no offence - but all the websites I read said that's only 3rd trimester stuff, not first. So I was beginning to worry!!!

Not finding Gaviscon particularly effective. Helped a bit at lunch time, but did f-all this evening. Is there anything else (over the counter) that anyone has tried?

In other news, we've been having the builders in for a week. Starting at 6:30 every morning. Leaving the house covered in sawdust and the like every night. Combine that with 12-hour days at work and you get...? Guess?

Hormonal, hysterical breakdown. Poor OH. Bless him.

NotAQueef · 30/07/2014 21:40

thanks mrsa me too! I am 9+4 now so hopefully not long left. I am definitely gagging/heaving less frequently so fingers crossed for us all x

Rainbow555 · 31/07/2014 03:30

At work very tempted to pull the blinds lock the door and have a power nap!
So tired!!
