keeper tbh, I couldn't leave it and did ring back to highlight the issue. I can understand mixups, but I wanted it looked into so no one else is affected in the same way. I said don't bother calling me back with an outcome, just so long as the process that lead to it is investigated.

notoasthere · 30/07/2014 13:06

olive I had a third degree tear last time so have a reason for requesting the elcs. You don't have to be induced, nor accept pethidine - you don't HAVE to do or accept anything you don't want too

persepolis123 · 30/07/2014 13:44

I wouldn't accept pethidine again. It made me violently sick last time.

FoscarC · 30/07/2014 13:52

madas that is so annoying and just bad admin from the doctors surgery. Unnecessary stress! Hope you're feeling better now and at least everything is ok.

noidea I had my birthday weekend a few weeks ago and drank tonic water all night claiming it was gin. I found it best to drink slowly so that if you were ever offered a drink you could decline as you had one. And make sure as soon as you've finished you leap up to get your next one. Done handily on way to or from toilet. Also if someone buys you a drink I just pretended to take sips and then poured them down the sink in the loo. I think I got away with it. Plus everyone else gets drunk and so stops noticing pretty quickly.

Hello!!

I keep meaning to pop in here!

DC2 due on March 15!! V excited, though unexpected. There will be a nine year age gap!!
Feeling dizzy and nauseous and exhausted and my boobs have gone from a 40D to a 40LONG but other than that Im still here!

In Ireland, first scan is 12 weeks minimum so I feel like its ages away! Time is crawling.

Hope all is well!

oliveobsessed · 30/07/2014 13:57

Thanks notoast I did a stint as a nanny for someone who had a 'normal' birth and a CS having seen the difference in her recovery I find the prospect of a 'normal' birth petrifying. The women I know recently who have had babies have major horror stories I have first birth nerves already lol

madasacatter · 30/07/2014 14:00

Thanks foscar loving the not drinking tips

olive do you mean the CS recovery was better?
We will need a nanny once little one arrives, any tips for finding a good one perhaps?

persepolis123 · 30/07/2014 14:05

mad I would have done the same. She has caused unnecessary stress. Pregnancy is stressful enough as it is without having to deal with that.

MGFM · 30/07/2014 14:10

Just got my appointment through for 12 week scan! 1st September! Very exciting :-)

Noideaaboutthis · 30/07/2014 14:50

Thank you pinkandstripey, woodland and foscarC for the no drinking tips. Hopefully the bride to be will be drunk and not notice.

I would love to offer advice on other people's messages but as my username suggests, I have a lot of reading to do in the next 8 months!

notoasthere · 30/07/2014 14:56

olive vaginal delivery is by far the safest option for both mother and baby in a normal pregnancy. For every woman who has a bad time of it, there are 100 women who have straightforward births. Despite my tear I was up and on my feet in less than 12 hours post epidural etc, and out for a walk on day 3. That's unlikely to happen with a elcs

Brummiegirl15 · 30/07/2014 15:04

Olive I feel exactly same way about forceps. The idea truly terrifies me and I would only want them used in an absolute emergency.

I am actually going to be requesting an elective. I've had a letz loop procedure and a come biopsy and been told on several occasions that I nay need a stitch and a c section due to excessive scarring on cervix.

So have fear that I will struggle to progress therefore why put myself through it?

Butterpuff · 30/07/2014 15:27

Oh I wish I had not come back to check in again today. It's way to early for me to know anything about labour. I'm still getting used to the puking.

MGFM Brilliant, must be great to have that date in the diary.

CrispsAndChoc · 30/07/2014 15:28

I had an early scan yesterday and everything seems fine-right place and size. They couldn't get a conclusive heartbeat so I'm going back again next week-is it normal not to see a heartbeat at 7 weeks? One other thing they did say is that I have a retroverted cervix-I have never heard of this before-has anyone got any real life experience of this?

fishfingerSarnies · 30/07/2014 15:39

Crisps I would try not to worry about not seeing a heartbeat, sure they would have said if it was a worry sometimes you can't find the heart beat that early. Fingers crossed for you no idea about a retroverted cervix hope some one else can offer some guidance.

I agree butter far to early to worry about all the birth crap though I had a emcs last time might try for vbac but never got passed 3cm after days of all sorts of stuff last time so not sure it's worth bothering.
Although my mum said it was much easier to get over elcs than an emcs after days of labour. Can't imagine how I'd care for a toddler and a new born having had a cs.

Forceps is a scary thought and no one actually wants it but no point thinking about it, and they wouldn't do it unless it was completely necessary.

CrispsAndChoc · 30/07/2014 15:50

Thanks fishfingersarnies. I got it wrong though! It's a retroverted uterus not cervix. The sonographer didn't seem concerned and said I probably won't show for ages because of it.

MissRee · 30/07/2014 16:08

So, has anyone booked to go to Bumpfest? I've sorted my ticket, would be nice to meet up with anyone else planning on going?

Brummiegirl15 · 30/07/2014 16:26

I have to say I wouldn't mind going but it's whether I can be bothered coming from Birmingham

MrsAmelia · 30/07/2014 16:36

Holy cow, today there is so much chatting!! Love it, though the birthing stuff is making my eyes cross ... Concurring with noideas ... Not a blessed clue (yet)

MissRee - I'm booking my tickets tomorrow. Very curious about the sessions, especially the ones about sleeping patterns ...

Congrats to you all on the appointment settings. I've just moved from North London to South and have to switch my GP and choose a hospital, so I haven't even seen a GP for my 12 week booking. Need to so that soon, I guess ... Hmm. You ladies are organised.

Boobs: I'm a rather flat-chested chic, but have gone up from an (US sizes b/c I don't know UK sizes well enough) A cup to a C and my husband is on Cloud 9. If I enjoy the "benefits" of these new "knockers", I may consider a boob-job after all the baby-making Grin

I'm getting naughtier the further into pregnancy I get (9 weeks today)

Does anyone find the sex even better too? TMI? Blush

Ok, I'll shut up now ... and eat my Cake

MissRee · 30/07/2014 16:50

Mrs - The sex definitely gets better - it all swells up down there, see Grin I remember that from last time.

Boobs - I have huge bangers (34G) and they feel like rocks at the moment and ridiculously sore and heavy to boot. If I take my bra off, I have to walk around holding them up or its too painful!

My first birth (2.5yrs ago) was fab. My waters went whilst I was sat in a hospital bed waiting for prostin gel for induction. Didn't need it in the end! Glad I ignored the MW telling me (at 8pm) that I should go home and come back at 9am the next morning - DD was 9 hours old by that point Grin

NotAQueef · 30/07/2014 17:15

mad how annoying but pleased it’s nothing to worry about

For all those saying they’d only want instrumental in an emergency I’m pretty sure they don’t just whack out the forceps/ventouse willy nilly so try not to worry Wink I think the key thing is to do some research or raise in your antenatal class (though NCT might gloss over it a bit) so you understand what could happen so that if it does it’s less scary, but don’t expect it to happen. Most births are uncomplicated and don’t require intervention

I had a v long labour with DS and in the end required the long forceps (can’t remember which ones) which turn the baby as it transpired he was presenting brow first hence so couldn’t flex his head and get out!
It wasn’t a nice experience but frankly at them time getting DS out safely while I was haemorrhaging was all I cared about. Despite the episiotomy I still tore but as I had been given a local anaesthetic (on top of the epidural I had put in after 20 hours) I didn’t feel the stitching – though seeing the in progress view from my consultant’s glasses was a bit of a shock Grin

My birth plan went out the window it read:

• Prefer not to have episiotomy
• Prefer not to have forceps
• Prefer not to have pain relief etc. etc.

I realise that the way the birth went was as a result of DS’ poor positioning so this time I will be more assertive if things are progressing slowly and demand a scan to check.

You’ve all reminded me that I haven’t really had much action since my bfp – I have been so exhausted and felt so sick. Poor DP hopefully I’ll get back in the saddle soon!

I am constantly on the flipping loo doing a wee – it’s so annoying, still in a few more weeks it will get better when the uterus moves out of our pelvis (until the last trimester anyway!).

Welcome Take

persepolia Pethidine also made me v sick despite an anti-emetic. Though to be fair I puked fairly regularly throughout labour even before any pain relief – the midwives seemed to think it was a good sign Hmm

Sorry total waffle – nice distraction to type rather than feel queasy

ZylaB · 30/07/2014 17:16

Haven't tried the sex, can't bear DH to touch me...I'm too hot and my boobs are sore. Hmm maybe I should just try and see....

Ponders

MissRee · 30/07/2014 17:19

I did one puke at the first "proper" contraction but I blame the MWs for force feeding me a manky old cheese salad! Grin

Will we get the notes from our first birth with our new notes? I don't remember much from the first one so I'd love to see the notes!

MrsAmelia · 30/07/2014 17:20

NotaQueef I hope your nausea begins to abate soon. How far along are you now? Let us know how "being back in the saddle" goes ... Grin

Mer93 · 30/07/2014 17:23

Is anyone else getting indigestion/heartburn? I used to get it every now and again before I became pregnant. It has become worse over the last couple of weeks, went to my GP and was prescribed some Gaviscon. I'm really not getting on with it well. Doesn't seem to be working. Before I got pregnant I was taking Ranitidine for it, feeling like giving up today and taking one of those because I know they work. What are any of you taking?
