Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

Let me know what you get ickle. Even though you are right, nothing to lose by trying. Can always unsubscribe later. I've signed up for so many things already anyway. Now I just need this baby to arrive, but I think it's decided its way too hot for being on the outside for now.

TheBookofRuth · 18/07/2014 18:48

Thanks everyone. My mum has brought DD in for a visit every day, but I don't keep her long, it's very hot and dull here for a two year old. She's been brilliant but is starting to miss me so I've sent DH home with instructions to give her a really fun Daddy-Daughter day tomorrow rather than coming here.

Hoping for good news from DS's test results tomorrow which will mean we can go home. Less good news will mean we have to stay here a further 5-7 days while they treat him.

GrouchyKiwi · 18/07/2014 19:44

Congrats mummy. Name can wait. Grin Just enjoy your little one. (And hope you get some rest!)

Ruth That sounds so tough. Hoping for good news for you tomorrow.

Not sure what's going on with me. It's all stop and start right now. Trying to stop thinking "this is it!" when things start up again but that's tough. DH stayed home today because it looked like today was the day this morning and then everything had died down by midday. So glad he was there, though, because he could take care of DD and let me get on with cleaning madness to try to encourage baby to come! Still having contractions; possibly getting regular, possibly not, but definitely stronger than this morning.

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 18/07/2014 20:04

Congrats to all new arrivals! Baby Emma doing fine although a little hot so just in nappies at the moment. She has also developed mad scientist style hair which we have decided is an indicator of storms brewing or a future in academia Grin.

She is feeding constantly and I really feel for all those struggling with breast feeding. I salute you Smile.

Section scar healing well and I am really mobile but still quite tired. Really could do with my overly active DH going back to work so I can have some downtime with baby and not have to go here there and everywhere. Unfortunately he has been arranging for his mum and annoying sister to keep me company when this happens Angry. Have had to counter attack by arranging for my mum to visit from 4 hours away for a few days. At least then I can surf mumnet, eat ice lollies and watch trashy tv when I want to.

Congrats to all new babies missed - as you probably all know by now we had a little boy, Elijah this morning.

He pooped inside so 24hr observation needed, but also needs to be checked over by paediatrician so looks like we are going home tomorrow afternoon.
I hate this room, so fecking hot. Even with the fan I was given.

Anyway, he is adorable, not at all noisy and feeds well. Long may that last!

All who still pg - lots of cold showers, cold drinks and watermelon to keep you cool & hydrated. Won't be long chicks...rooting for safe, quick, painless deliveries!
X

ZingGoesPop · 18/07/2014 21:29

I think I should NC to ZingGoesPOOP as I have just done a most enormous poo! Grin
Been eating like a wolf and needing to poo for the last two hours..so it was about time.
Didn't even hurt, despite the few stitches I have.
So happy...SmileGrin

Plateofcrumbs · 18/07/2014 23:12

I've never been so thrilled about other people's bowel movements before Grin

You were 18 days over last time more snow ?! Yikes!

Heat really got to me today and did nothing all day other than lay about wilting. But managed to get out for dinner and drinks with friends tonight which was lovely.

icklekid · 19/07/2014 04:47

You have already pooed zing good work and congratulations again on Elijah!

plate I am very jealous of you appearing to have a life...how is that fair?! Wink

blue yes to nipple shields- theo has been feeding every hour and a half since 9.30 last night- proper 20-30 mins feeds. Without shields I would either be in tears, using formula or probably both! Have given up with shifts with dh tonight as not fair- he can't comfort him when he just wants feeding. If this continues maybe need to think about expressing! liquid you have my sympathy!

NancyinCali · 19/07/2014 05:49

Dog won't leave me alone. Is labour imminent? Or an earthquake? I think I'd prefer the former.

In all seriousness, I have zero signs of labour so I think we have at least a week to go yet (39 weeks tomorrow).

Congrats on the poo zing.

BlueC2 · 19/07/2014 08:20

Feel awful for those of you still waiting to pop in this intense heat - not sure which is worse though-being pregnant in the heat or labouring in it-though at least with the labour you can see the end in sight! Take care ladies and keep your fluid levels up!

moresnow every 20mins Shock even without a toddler that would be punishing. It's my left nipple that's particularly bad-thankfully not bleeding and once I've got through the initial toe curling agony the feed itself is just about bearable!

ickle well done for persevering with BF! Despite it being hell at times still count it as one of my most precious achievements with DS and am determined to do so with DD too.

zing huge congratulations!?

All those waiting/with twinges

BlueC2 · 19/07/2014 08:22

Oops some strange punctuation there- zing no ? Intended just big congrats !

ickle i still count it...

ZingGoesPop · 19/07/2014 09:18

Blue - no worries , it made me laugh !

Elijah is an amazing feeder, I am soooo lucky. We fell asleep bf, and I woke up to him having found the nipple, helping himself to breakfast! Grin

On the downside the afterpains are agony. The more kids you have the worse they are so I'm on diclofenac & paracetamol for now and I don't see how I can do without them for at least a week.
I feel like a druggie, begging for the next dose.
Could do with a bit of g&a right now. Ouch

ickle

Has baby been checked for tongue tie?
Also is latch correct?

Some people end up "nipple" feeding by mistake. Sorry you are struggling.

BlueC2 · 19/07/2014 14:34

Great news on the feeding zing

We had 5 day check this morning and my super trooper DD has gained 40g/1.41oz despite all the tongue tie related feeding issues we've had this week!! SO proud of her! And makes me feel that the agony I've been in with my poor abused nipples has been worthwhile :)

GrouchyKiwi · 19/07/2014 14:49

Well done Blue and Baby Blue! That's great.

I'm in a new waiting game today. Thought I was in early labour properly yesterday and that things were starting to ramp up and then it all died down again overnight.

But I had some show this morning, and have now found some (TMI?) yellow stuff in my maternity pad, so rang Triage. Have to put in a clean pad, lie down for half hour then walk about for half hour before calling them back to say what I see on the pad. They'll then decide what we do next.

Having some tightenings now - first of the day - and we went out early afternoon so I've done a fair amount of walking around. Baby is moving a bit but much, much smaller movements than normal.

ZingGoesPop · 19/07/2014 15:33

Come on Kiwi, let this be it!
Rooting for you!

Blue - great news on weight gain!

We are home now, had lunch in the garden - much better.
Found out this morning that DS1 is singing at a wedding today with choir - for the last time.

2.30 hrs till I can take co-codamol. I hate being in painHmm
I might have to take nurofen now. It's really bad...

TheBookofRuth · 19/07/2014 16:29

DS is fine, has been discharged, we're coming home tonight!!!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

ZingGoesPop · 19/07/2014 16:45

Excellent news 'Ruth' ! Well done!

Plateofcrumbs · 19/07/2014 16:47

Woohoo ruth Smile - great news!

Had 40 week midwife appointment today - not much happening still, only 1/5 engaged. Should be doing more ball bouncing and walking but back ache and pelvic pain not helping. I've not taken any painkillers all pregnancy but perhaps I should just start taking some paracetamol , if it helps me stay more active?

elliejjtiny · 19/07/2014 17:05

Congratulations to those with new babies and really pleased you're going home ruth. Zing you have my sympathies with the afterpains, I needed oramorph for mine with DS4 and DS5. liquid I know how you feel, I've just survived a week of FIL "helping". In some ways I'm looking forward to next Friday and being able to lift things again but also worried about having to "go back to normal" and not being able to use the "just had major surgery" excuse to sit around.

mupperoon · 19/07/2014 18:39

Hooray for mummy and also for Ruth!

Hope things are moving for you now Kiwi...

Plate I'd go for the paracetamol, personally, if it will keep you moving! Might also help in dealing with this infernal heat. I've definitely got more of a bowling-ball-tween-legs feeling now I'm spending more time on the ball. But I feel too faint and dizzy to walk much. Even a short shopping trip this afternoon wiped me out.

GrouchyKiwi · 19/07/2014 19:43

Can proper contractions feel less intense second time around? They're regular and getting closer together but nowhere near as strong as I remember.

mupperoon · 19/07/2014 19:53

Kiwi my sis gave birth yesterday, she said at least early on that they seemed more manageable, perhaps due to breathing techniques/less stress? Also they were irregular in frequency and length right up until active labour, which meant they didn't meet the official pattern so she was put off coming into hospital even though she turned out to be fully dilated when she did rock up!

Thanks. There's a note on my records that I had a short labour last time so I guess they'll take that into account when I do call. Will leave it for a bit.
