Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

Ooh ickle are they for thank you cards? I was going to get some to send to people who have sent stuff.

incapinka I like both names tbh.

AuntieMaggie · 17/07/2014 11:28

Would arsenic hour account for the monster like behaviour between 7 and 10 pm last night where ds was really angry and literally chopping at my breast like a starved monster? Very strange but we did giggle at the noises he was making. Thankfully he's calmer this morning!

Incapinka · 17/07/2014 11:29

Well done Ickle!! I appreciate it! I announced my poo yesterday!!

Thanks Auntiemaggie. Any other comments would be gratefully received!

AuntieMaggie · 17/07/2014 11:32

Ha my poos are intermittent - didn't have a problem in hospital so I suspect it's not having 3 meals a day brought to me that's done it so have stocked up on glycerine suppositories just incase!

Collie1806 · 17/07/2014 11:33

inca it does sound quite geographical but India is such a beautiful name I really don't think it matters! I also really like Willa, it sounds lovely with your surname.

auntie thank you, I'm really considering just asking for one now. Think I just need to accept that it's not often people get their 'perfect' labour. So long as we're both healthy at the end that's all that matters Grin

AuntieMaggie · 17/07/2014 11:35

zing I watched that you tube video the other day - can definitely match ds's cries though he's mainly hungry... His tired cry sounds like a pitiful cat though is very cute but sad :(

icklekid · 17/07/2014 11:41

auntie yes they are just quick thank you cards from snapfish- really pleased with them though!

incapinka glad I'm not the only one!

Am sat in the shade in the garden is such a nice temperature and having snuggly cuddles with my gorgeous baby- have to remember moments like this as they make it all worth while!

AuntieMaggie · 17/07/2014 11:44

collie when I got in the delivery room my mw asked me if I wanted one and I said that I would like to try and cope without one but if I needed one then I would have it and explained about wanting to be mobile. She got the anaesthetist to come talk to me so that if I needed one there would be no delay in him going through my medical history etc . I don't know if this is normal but it meant that when I needed it then it was relatively straight forward even though I couldn't have told him my own name at that point. So when the time comes have a chat with the mw and see what they recommend. You may not need it (there were several other women induced at a similar time to me who had much more straightforward labours and no epidural on my ward) but it's worth being prepared.

Collie1806 · 17/07/2014 11:50

auntie I really appreciate you taking the time out to give me some advice! I'll definitely mention it to my MW when I get there, I'd really like to be able to make it through without one and as you say, remain mobile, but at least I'll know for sure I can get one if I need it once I've spoken to MW!

ismarah · 17/07/2014 11:52

Congrats everyone I've missed Inca and Ruth at least - my computer is being upgraded by DH (so I expect it back early next year #meanie) and my phone's been weird for a few days.

Zing sorry you had such a shit day - glad you have it all sorted (I knew you would #supermum ) and I look forward to reading your snappy answers to more stupid questions in Head Tilt, volume 7.

Well done on poos everyone. I really mean that. Wine

I was bad yesterday. I snapped at my mum and upset her. They've been here since Saturday (1 bathroom! Summer heat wave! Lack of sleep!) and every time she sees me BF bean, she starts to try and offer helpful comments. Repeatedly. Asking about latch, pointing out when bean's fallen asleep and therefore come off etc - AS IF I HAVEN'T NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE. So I snapped. Just a little.

Think she may have forgiven me though as we did go for bean's first push chair walk together yesterday and she was fine. Although she did spend the walk worrying that bean was too exposed to the elements and pollution and bugs and so on. So now I'm googling all sorts of screens and accessories for the pushchair. Sigh.

They leave tonight. Am simultaneously sad and relieved. And knackered.

mupperoon · 17/07/2014 12:21

Afternoon all.

Kiwi hope things are going OK! I thought of you and your noisy neighbours last night when I went to bed at 11 - someone in a house nearby was playing some sort of youthy dubgrime noise at high volume. Luckily the fan drowned it out a bit and I was so knackered nothing could have stopped me nodding off.

Collie I feel the same fears over induction - I really don't want to feel out of control and then be forced into a bunch of interventions I don't want. Particularly since they want to induce me at 40 weeks (by their dating) when I think my EDD should be 4 days later, and if I were in France or other Euro countries my EDD would be a week later than that! I've got no idea how I will feel when actually in labour though - I might turn out to be a prize wuss, so am trying to keep an open mind.

I am trying to spend as much time upright as possible to encourage wrigglebum downwards but it's sooo difficult when it's hot and I'm so tired. I caught sight of myself reflected in the bath overflow this morning - looked like Jabba the Hutt.

I shamed myself into actually doing something positive rather than lolling about watching the TdF. Project of the week is sorting out boxes and boxes of holiday and event mementos and organising them into some sort of timeline so I can make some scrapbooks commemorating our 14 child-free years together, before we get any more busy/demented/baby-obsessed than we already are. It's been lovely, although I do keep bursting into tears.

Weirdness alert - my other half spotted a sparkly crown in a shop the other day and suggested I bought it for the hospital - has he been MNing I wonder?

Collie1806 · 17/07/2014 12:50

mupperoon I'm bouncing on the ball, walking, trying to keep as active as possible but they'll come when they're ready I guess. Here's hoping baby comes on time for you! It's really hard to keep an open mind I think, especially when we have no prior experience of what we're about to go through and once you get your mind set on the way you want something to be, it's difficult to change those thought patterns! Or at least that's how I feel anyway.

ZingGoesPop · 17/07/2014 13:03

I have had a few irregular contractions since 8 am - called the hospital to say that I think I'm in very early labour.
we agreed that there's no point going in just yet, but of course if this kicks off or waters break I'll be there like a bullet (10 mins drive)

DH is now home and we will wait and see if things progressing. MIL is on standby, DH is about to put younger two in bed and will have a nap.

I feel dizzy (heat id crazy!), feel a bit sick, have a bit of lower back ache and needing to poo - so all the right signs are there.
Because the contractions are very irregular I feel quite laid back about them - this could be it, or nothing at all.

we shall see. today would actually be a good day for it. And I feel very relaxed.

I'm going to pack my bags now though, probably about time...Grin

btw if things kick off I might do a live birth thread so if no news here maybe you could find "ZingBaby is coming" thread and follow events.
just for a bit of fun.

GrouchyKiwi · 17/07/2014 13:46

How does bouncing on the ball help? Does anyone know? I'm going to do some when DD and I have finished lunch.

mupperoon Neighbours can be such a pain. Glad it didn't interfere with your sleep. Ours have been nice and quiet the past couple of days - without me needing to say anything - so maybe it was a one-off.

Zing Hooray for signs on a suitable day! I'd be very impressed if you did a live thread!

Things have settled a bit for me. Still feel like something is happening, and bump is tightening a lot. Back pain and crampy feelings are not as strong, but they're still there, so will just have to play the waiting game. I have a MW appointment in just over an hour so hopefully walking there will encourage things and she can let me know what's happening. Feeling more relaxed about life. Have just about got our bedroom all cleaned and tidied to fit in the crib, though I think will need to move some furniture about. Will wait for DH to get home, naturally - if I make it that long.

Collie1806 · 17/07/2014 14:04

kiwi my MW encouraged me to use the ball as apparently sitting on it with legs apart and feet flat on the floor opens up the pelvis and encourages baby's head to move down and put pressure

Collie1806 · 17/07/2014 14:05

kiwi oops didn't mean to post they!
-put pressure on the cervix, which can help move things along! Apparently it's also good for increasing blood flow to the placenta which can't be a bad thing Grin

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 17/07/2014 14:11

Ooh good luck zing and kiwi!

Have been trapped under hungry baby all day (apart from a couple of nappy changes). Please send food.

BlueC2 · 17/07/2014 15:24

So good to read everyone's various news and take my mind off things for a bit :)

Go zing you're a pro by now so live birth thread sounds great :) and even better if today is a convenient day!!

ickle ;) good to read your news! Glad it went well! I also had success in that dept this morning though now think I'm a bit constipated and despite lack of stitches etc still don't seem to be able to push Blush sorry TMI! Don't think people will think you're mad with the postcards- it's something a bit more 'normal' to do.

Inca I slightly prefer India in the name stakes and think it's fine with your surname.

ismarah well done for surviving house guests

I'm suffering visitor overload- my DM and DSD yesterday, they're v practical so came armed with food and were generally pretty helpful. PIL today- they have also brought food but expected us to prepare and provide lunch for them on arrival, then FIL asked if he could watch the cricket and MIL has asked if DH can take her to local speciality food store this aft Shock No one visiting tomorrow thankfully!!

Milk fully in, breasts v sore and MW confirmed tongue tie in DD this morning so considering chatting to/getting visit from recommended cranial osteopath and breastfeeding specialist but not cheap!!

Collie1806 · 17/07/2014 15:33

blue hope you have a quieter day tomorrow!

Did anyone watch one born every minute last night? Just catching up now, cried my eyes out at the lady who delivered in the car! Never ever cry watching OBEM; clearly having an emotion overload Wink

ZingGoesPop · 17/07/2014 15:50

started birth thread as I think my waters broke. had a huge painful contraction so going to hospital to get checked

ismarah · 17/07/2014 16:10

Zing's thread

GrouchyKiwi · 17/07/2014 16:26

Exciting re Zing's live thread!

Just back from MW. She thinks baby is 2/5 engaged (so 3/5 palpable) and really doesn't think I have that long to go. With the caveat that my babies are very active so there's a chance this one will just pop back out again and lead me a merry dance.

Feeling VERY sore below, waddled like a fat penguin to MW and back, so can certainly tell that the little one is engaging. I guess that's what previous contractions have been in aid of.

Just starting some strong ones now, (literally now) so will continue to hope this is it!

When I've recovered from my walk I'll be bouncing on that ball with vigour! (Not really, far too tired to do anything vigorously.)

Was also very bad before my appointment and moved bedroom furniture by myself. I just wanted the crib to be in the room, all set up. Will make it tonight!

Ipsumlorem · 17/07/2014 16:26

Congrats inca blue and ruth plus anyone else I may have missed (am on phone) Smile

Good luck zing! Hope all goes well at hospital! Smile

Im still having cramps and contractions on and off but am off to the hospital soon to get checked and hopefully for a sweep. Blood pressure was still high at last check before due date (am 40 plus 5 today) so have bags just incase they decide to keep me in.

GrouchyKiwi · 17/07/2014 16:29

Oh, and Inca: I like both names and think they sound lovely with your surname.

icklekid · 17/07/2014 16:40

Ooh zing and kiwi getting excited for you!

collie struggled to watch obem when pregnant def couldn't watch it now!

blue I was thinking more sending them when little one is less than a week old! Sorry to hear about tongue tie hope now you know you can sort! Also rubbish to hear about pil hope you get to rest tomorrow!

I sent message to friends this morning saying please come visit! Hate not seeing people when can't get about!
