Our due date was also shifted at our 12w scan - moved from 5 Feb to the 11 Feb - am wondering whether we just have a small baby or whether my dates were wrong!!! 14w down now....seems like a really long time until the 20w scan! Don't think I can bear the wait.

Memphisbelly · 14/08/2014 10:22

Lawyeredout how frustrating this happened to me with ds went back two weeks, I had tracked my cycle so was positive of date (we are a small couple so small baby isn't impossible) the dates didn't change but I went into labour on my 'due date' my mum and myself are still convinced I was 2 weeks overdue.

Hanflan my dad refused all immunisations for us as kids, I got whopping cough at 15 and my lungs aren't the best now due to scarring, I will be having them but wondered what others thought.

Becca1818 · 14/08/2014 11:16

Hi ladies

I'm slowly starting to feel more human and less like I've got the plague!
Hope everyone else is too!

Might not tell dp that yet tho as he's still doing all of the cooking/ cleaning Wink

Anyway so had my 12 week scan to be told I was 14 weeks!! The little baby was giving my insides a good kicking!

Because I was further than I thought I didn't get to have the nt test and have to go for a quads test at the hospital. Has anyone else been through this/ going trough this? Should I be worried?

lawyeredout82 · 14/08/2014 11:19

Becca - I also have to go back for the quad test at the start of September but only because our baby was not lying still enough (for a whole hour and a half!) to take the measurements. I asked the midwife about the difference between the two tests and she said that there is only 5% accuracy difference between the two and not to worry. I guess the only downside is that if your baby does have downs then you won't find out until later on in your pregnancy which may make any decisions you need to make harder.

BanglesSpangles · 14/08/2014 11:48

I'd like to get the whooping cough jab but I don't want the flu one... Am I being a bit ridiculous? I can't think of a good reason for having one but not the other apart from a vague petulant sense of 'because i said so'...

Memphisbelly · 14/08/2014 11:52

Bangles because of my illness I am suppost to have it every year and never do so I am still not sure on the flu one either and I don't think the antibodies pass on to the baby like the whooping cough one, I don't think anyone is weird for opting out of anything its all personal choice Smile

BanglesSpangles · 14/08/2014 11:57

:) thanks memphis, that's nice of you to say so- There's so many flipping decisions to make, and I've been trying to base everything with an actual reason, or some kind of supporting evidence, but I guess sometimes you just have to go with what you want!

BanglesSpangles · 14/08/2014 11:57

although if the antibodies don't pass over with flu, that is reason enough for me! (phew!)

Becca1818 · 14/08/2014 12:02

Thanks lawyer. Fingers crossed for both of us all is ok. Mine is booked in for the 28th August so not too far away.

I had a tour of the maternity suite and everything when I had my scan. Made it feel real!

freneticfox · 14/08/2014 12:09

hanflan I had a really nice chat with a colleague in HR today who said that her and most of her friends that have children found that from 16 weeks things got significantly easier - hang in there, we're nearly there.

Frenetic finally someone at work being positive/nice!

Bangles yes so many decisions. I am dreading the breastfeeding ones last time as soon as I walked in I said to mw I won't be breastfeeding, she wrote in big letters on. My white book 'do not discuss breastfeeding, wants to bottle feed' this midwife wouldn't do that. I can't bf due to medication, I may just write it on my white book myself Smile

BanglesSpangles · 14/08/2014 12:37

ha- yes to the BF question- my MW asked me what our intentions were, my snap answer was 'bottle', without really thinking about it,and she just didn't bother to tick the box in my book- i have a horrible feeling there's going to be 'a little chat' on this somewhere further down the line

Frenetic- hooray for the HR lady and someone with something good to say!

Memphisbelly · 14/08/2014 12:43

I have a friend who is a breast feeding support worker and the day I told her I was pg she emailed me info on buying other peoples breastmilk, aside from the fact I don't want to it was so expensive we would have to give up eating ourselves, last time I used Hipp Organic and as it isnt one the nhs get funding from to promote or stock every mw pulled a face when I told them.
Another thing they didn't like was I didn't want the baby being born and out straight on me I had no birth plan but my only request was to have baby taken straight to dh the last mw was fine about it but the registrar wasn't happy about it at all. Sadly for her I hate bossy people so it made me even more determined!

hanflan · 14/08/2014 12:48

frenetic that's good to hear. Although I have found it keeps changing haha, it used to be 12wks, then 14wks, now being told 16wks, maybe they are just trying to keep our hopes up?! I swear it is getting better though, there's less of the all day sicky feeling and I think I have more energy, it's just the mornings I'm still struggling with now. Are you feeling any better? Or do you still have bad nights?

BanglesSpangles · 14/08/2014 13:15

ha memphis- im exactly the same- if someone expressly told me i should be doing something, the snap reaction is to tell them to bugger off, regardless of whether i agree or not!

Memphisbelly · 14/08/2014 13:22

Oh I am glad I am not alone, sometimes protest no way then later on think hmmm actually that was a good idea! Grin

Bimberley · 14/08/2014 13:31

.

BanglesSpangles · 14/08/2014 13:38

haha yep, exactly. To my credit, I have got very good at going back and saying if i've changed my mind/have been ridiculous!

donkir · 14/08/2014 13:45

I shall be having whatever jabs they offer me mainly due to the fact I work with children so am at a higher risk of getting flu. My step father also has terminal bone cancer so is also at very high risk so if I can prevent myself from getting it the less likely he is to get it too.
Had a bit of a spending spree online today and hopefully got most of my winter wardrobe. H&M have 10% off at the moment.

donkir · 14/08/2014 13:49

I'm also going to try and breast feed. I managed for a little while with ds but I have inverted nipples so had to use shields last time and it was such a faff. Took 5 days in hospital with me crying and ds not being able to latch on when they had a change of staff and a lovely midwife came and explained about nipples. Until then all midwives were just getting cross with me and blaming me not positioning him correctly. I'm 12yrs older and wiser now so will be able to tell them to stick their advice where the sun doesn't shine.

HerRoyalNotness · 14/08/2014 16:35

Hello all, just peeping in to join the Feb club. Due 20 Feb with DC3.

Has been a bit of a rollercoaster as I thought I'd had a mc at 8 weeks. A week later I had a gush of blood at work so rang my OBGYN who took me in straight away to see what was going on. Did a scan, et voila, baby still there and waving! Was amazing to see at 9 weeks fully formed little baby, with teeny hands. Have had another scan which showed expected growth at 10weeks and have another tomorrow (13 weeks), will be able to go to monthly visits if all is looking good. She found no cause of the bleeding etc.. so hoping this is it and all will be well. Have to go to specialist next week for the genetic and nuchal fold tests

Still not feeling relaxed, but getting there. Now worred about mat leave and budgeting and arghhhh... We're in the USA so it is a bit crap and not looking forward to telling work I'll be off longer than 3 months.

I had terrible nausea in the first 8 weeks, any time I ate something I felt ill, and went off junk food completely, including chocolate, yay! It all passed, but this week I've been sick in the car twice driving to work, lol. Yesterday was in slow traffic on the highway, thankfully I had a scarf on hand, today I prepared with a plastic bag and made it to the work carpark before I had to use it. Is that normal? To start vomiting at 12/13weeks? (maybe it is my driving). I only had one vomit with DC1 and none with DC2.

Bimberley · 14/08/2014 17:02

Welcome herroyal :)
Yes with DD I vomited at 5 weeks and then nothing until 18 weeks.
With DS just at 15 weeks and 27 weeks.
Nothing ao far with this one. Bad nausea but not actually vomited. Probably will now I've said that!

Davidtennantmistress · 14/08/2014 17:31

Hi all I'm back again bumblebee was a pickle today and wouldn't lay still long enough for the scan. We did manage some good pictures and eventually got there I didn't mind but made the scan about three times longer than the allocated 10 minute slot! All is well measuring 12+ 6 due 20 th feb so I'm thinking boy as both of my other boys have been big at first scan so a week before I thought. Anyhow it's no three so the joys are here to stay just glad I'm not feeling as sick now.

HerRoyalNotness · 14/08/2014 18:19

Thanks Bimberley, interesting to know and also annoying!

david we're due on the same day, and I also have 2 DSs. Not sure what this will be, I suspect another boy. Would like a girl, but will take a healthy anything. DS1 is desperate for a sister, and keeps talking about it, saying how cute it will be. I asked the other day each of them, what is your favourite boys name ever (Before I told them I was pregnant), they both said each others names. Bless them. I'll have a job finding a third boys' name, can't think of anything that friends haven't used that I like.

Bangonthedoor · 14/08/2014 18:51

Lots of posts to catch up on this evening!

Today was such a crap day at work and I could really murder a huge glass or bottle of wine! Sadly just shloer for me Hmm which makes me so gassy!

Congrats on all other scans and low risk NT results Grin

I'm definitely going to bottle feed this one. Trying to breast feed DD without suffocating her with my boobs was a night mare. She's impatient and so am I so from day 1 it was tricky to say the least. The staff at the hospital were really unhelpful too and tried to force me into it, it really ruined my first few days with DD. Then when I went onto formula at home my community midwife made a visit and was so nasty to me about giving up. So, definitely no discussion from any health professional around this for me!
