Has anybody had experience of injecting yourself with Fragmin (or similar)? I have an appt about it tomorrow and I am looking forward to it not at all....

CoventGarden75 · 14/07/2014 20:36

monkey you poor thing, i had to inject fragmin, and my biggest complaint is that the needles are blunt, really blunt, so i hope you have a different brand. My advice, pinch the skin on your belly to make it easier to pierce, and once injected, it might give a painful sensation, a bit like burning, RESIST the temptation to rub it, if you do you'll get massive bruises, if you don't the burning will go away after a few seconds.

and thanks to everyone who's given advice on what to buy/not to buy.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/07/2014 20:54

Fragmin - is this for people at high risk of clots? I'm pissed off with my previous midwife because she ticked me off as "low risk" (I bloody am, there was only one contributing factor), and then wrote in big capital letters, "HIGH RISK FOR DVT" >:(

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/07/2014 20:56

That was supposed to be an angry face. She also ticked that I don't speak English and got my BMI wrong. I hope the new one is nice and competent!

oohdaddypig · 14/07/2014 20:57

Miraculous - so pleased all is well today. A step at a time. I have no idea what you are going through, I appreciate, but with hard times in my life I have a mantra which always helps me, which is "today, everything is as good as it can possibly be". Every positive scan is a step closer xx

drew I never really have sex when preg. Poor DH is used to it. I just don't fancy it. Don't beat yourself up...

Liking the buying chat. We don't need anything as not our first but I would add my own views in case it helps. With DC2 our baby sleeping bags were a godsend as she would not settle under the blankets! I guess each baby different. Agree muslins have soooo many uses. Sun shield on buggy with pegs, spare bibs for toddlers, dish clothes when finally too holey! Mine hated the jumperoo too - ours was a hand me down thankfully. They had an activity centre they could stand in which they loved though....

Hats off to all of you doing real nappies. I was full of intentions but couldn't face it, especially with two in nappies. i think the jury is put on the ecological arguments given the resources to wash/dry them if it makes anyone else lazy like me feel better....!

Hard day - have DC1's tummy bug. Makes a change from the nausea...

Bettycakes80 · 14/07/2014 21:02

Anyone else seem to have an entire village knitting them things in anticipation of a winter baby? Mother, MIL, SIL and auntie all started knitting already!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 14/07/2014 21:05

Yep my mums a bit of a hippy and apparently she's knitting a stripey babygrow with a hood!!!!

Somersetgirl1990 · 14/07/2014 21:05

Just threw up my dinner Confused hoping this isn't the return of ms!! Hopefully an early night will cure it!

PunkyPod · 14/07/2014 21:10

Go on the Nappy Lady website and complete the questionnaire. She'll send you a load of info and suggest nappies that'll work for what you want.

We have birth to potty tots bots bamboozle stretch nappies. We use motherease wraps. And we use boosters too. No specific brand just ones off selling pages. We also have some bumgenius birth to potty nappies which are all-in-ones. I like them but we only used them for the first year.

Got a bucket with a lid and 2 mesh bags. One bag in the bucket which you can then pull out and put in the washing machine.

Also got wet nappy bags for out and about. Off Amazon Smile

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/07/2014 21:16

My mum has been begging me to let her start knitting since I was 4 weeks! I don't want everything in neutral bloody colours though, so I'm knitting loads of brightly coloured things :)

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 14/07/2014 21:18

I have a £25 amazon voucher to spend on the baby store but can't think of anything I actually need from there which is really annoying

oohdaddypig · 14/07/2014 22:06

Jojomamanbebe has an amazing sale on right now on mat clothes. I like their stuff although sizing a bit wonky..

ffallada · 14/07/2014 22:12

Missing my mum greatly - which is silly as I am visiting her in hospital twice a day for 3 odd hours. She's just not herself ATM. Damn pregnancy hormones, they make everything more difficult to deal with Sad
Pregnancy is not the time for bad news.

Miraculous you have my deepest good thoughts.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/07/2014 23:36

My bean is dancing away tonight!! I'm only 16 weeks and I'm a fatty so I didn't expect to feel anything this definite for ages. I heard that previous pregnancies can make you more sensitive to it, but assumed you'd have had to have given birth for your uterus to be that relaxed. I had a termination at between 9-12 weeks - would that have a bearing? I like it but I could do with going to sleep now, really Grin

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 15/07/2014 04:20

Not sure Peace but I've been feeling mine for a few weeks now (20weeks today) and I had a termination about 10 weeks 12 years ago. I'm a fatty so didnt expect to feel anything at all. My belly is also starting to harden into a proper bump which I like!Grin

LotsaTuddles · 15/07/2014 06:35

MrsW we did the same last year, got married in June, DS born at the beginning of September and bought our house at the end of September (we bought a new build, so started buying it in April).

Safe to say that 2013 was an expensive and stressful year for us, was worth it in the end though.

If those injections are for anti clotting, I had them after DS was born (emcs). My advice is don't let DH do it, I'm sure mine enjoyed it way too much and he did it unbelievably slowly so it was beyond painful

monkeybaby2 · 15/07/2014 07:07

No way DH is going anywhere near me with the needle! This will strictly be a solo affair.

I'm still trying to work out if I really need it. It's only based on a score sheet and my crohns and age have pushed me just over the threshold. What's weird is that we've just moved areas and in my previous area I was fine. I also had a work health check a few days ago and he told me my blood was thin...so why do I need a blood thinner then?

DrewsWife · 15/07/2014 10:46

Morning. Woke up to a lovely phone call from hospital asking me to go in on Friday to see them at the asthma clinic. Consultant referred me to see them. Which given I have had a couple of recent asthma issues is no bad thing eh.

Let's add another clinic into the mix eh. Blush

miraculous2 · 15/07/2014 11:10

Lovely start making breakfast for DH who is finally off to start his placement after many recent postponements and went to drop him off. Then I got shouted at by a traffic warden and had a total meltdown. I had to move on with the traffic but I wish I'd been parked so the bastard could see the state of me. Fucking hell.

Ladylel · 15/07/2014 13:58

I am having not one but two little boys! Our lives are going to consist of breaking up fights and peeing contests for sure!

Of course nothing runs smoothly tho as one is 3mm shorter in femur length so is off the chart at the lower percentile.... Have to re see a specialist fetal medicine doctor next week for another scan as hopefully he's just a slow grower and may just need to catch up. It could be a number of things but I refuse to let anything get me down as other than that they appear to be two very healthy little boys in every other sense of the word!

CallingAllEngels · 15/07/2014 14:41

Lovely news ladylel - my dm's ndn has just had twin boys. She was looking over the hedge at ds running about like a new puppy with fear in her eyes!

Ladylel · 15/07/2014 16:27

Oh the best is yet to come lol!

littlepickly · 15/07/2014 17:08

Fab news ladylel - how exciting! Hope little twin catches up soon.

Hope your day has improved miraculous and that you're feeling ok.

Does anyone have any experience of hypnobirthing? I'm interested to hear your opinions as I'm thinking of trying for a home birth. I'm not sure if I would be open to it or just see it as a bit weird Grin They run a course at our hospital but it's expensive - £200 - so I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 15/07/2014 17:16

Haha I remember seeing a programme about midwives where some middle class yummy mummy was going to try hypnobirthing with her doula. She had photos of flowers opening up stuck all over the place to help her cervix to open up. That kind of ruined it all for me Grin

littlepickly · 15/07/2014 17:29

Argh that's what I'm afraid of peace! Smile
