Made we will all be with you in spirit huni Smile I really hope things go well for you Thanks

freneticfox · 30/06/2014 13:29

Echo what others have said, we're there in spirit MmeG!

Just back from GP, she gave me two things for my crippling night nausea.. Cyclizine and acupuncture. Turns out she's a practitioner. Been poked and prodded way too much this pregnancy and I'm barely 8weeks.

Curling up with my three cats and watching the tennis.

chillychicken · 30/06/2014 13:45

fox hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm joining in with the pram talk. We went pram hunting at the weekend, still feels way too early (I'm 17+1) but given how long it took us to choose our new car, we thought we best get cracking! We'd originally decided on the Quinny Buzz Xtra but there is hardly any storage space. I liked the Cosatto a lot, as did DH. Didn't like the iCandy at all. DH then made the massive error of asking which buggy was the most popular. We got taken to the Bugaboo Chameleon.

OMG. I love it. Properly love it! However, it's £820. Shock Once you've added in the car seat and isofix base, you're up to £1100 Shock

So... the King of Ebay (aka my husband) had a little nosey online and found one 5 minutes away from our house. He only bloomin' won it! Grin £185! So even if we decide to buy new covers, these are only £55 each which means we're at £600 instead of £1100! Yay! The other fab thing is we can test it out at home - so we can check it fits through the front door, how heavy it is to lift into the car, etc and if we don't like it, then it can just go back on ebay.

I feel a teeny bit funny about it not being new - I think it's the previous model as the brake looks different - but I can't sniff at a £500 saving. Picking it up on the way home, so excited!

Spotti · 30/06/2014 14:04

ARGH! Stupid flippin' tax people. They're driving me up the wall! Really don't need this stress or the 26 minute + 15 mins and counting phone calls, the majority of which I'm on hold today. I just want a naaaaaaap :(.

Will read back in a mo (sorry for the selfish moan).

MrsBeeBeeBee · 30/06/2014 15:01

Thinking of you today Mlle

One day I'll actually get the chance to catch up with all the going ons in here.

8 weeks today, no booking in appt yet! Will call on my day off later in week I think.

poly apologees if you've already explained. But did you decline NT test or do they not do them where you are? They don't do them here but everyone else seems to get them!

PolytheneGirl · 30/06/2014 15:12

Mllle I am so sorry I didn't see your PM. I have replied now. I hope things are going ok.

freneticfox · 30/06/2014 15:22

Starting to wonder if I've got a case for pregnancy discrimination at work. They're making it really difficult to go to my antenatal appointments, insisting I change them so they're at the end of day - not always possible with our local NHS.

PolytheneGirl · 30/06/2014 15:23

No MrsBee we declined the screening and did when we had DS too. We just felt that we were in a position where knowing we could have a baby with additional needs wouldn't have affected our decision to continue with the pg and didn't want to take on the extra worry and pressure of getting a high risk outcome. If there is anything wrong when baby arrives we will cope. I will have a paediatrician at the birth anyway because of my diabetes so that feels a bit safer too.

My cousin has a very beautiful, now grown up, Down's DSS and I can't imagine the world without him, so that really influenced our decision. I know that there would be people very close to us who would have put us under some pressure to terminate, because they love us and for no other reason but I could see that situation within a family causing a rift too.

It's a very personal choice and it is very important to make the choice that is right for you. If you want the screening you should be able to get it privately.

Please don't any of you feel that because we chose not to have the screening that I think having it is the wrong thing to do. It just wasn't the right thing for us. In a way I think people are braver than me for having it. Smile

PolytheneGirl · 30/06/2014 15:25

Fox you have maternity rights and these include paid time off for antenatal appointments. Tell them to shove it! I'm so cross for you today Angry

freneticfox · 30/06/2014 15:28

I'm starting to get so upset. I love my job dearly, but the people are simply awful. Even other departments comment on how nasty the area I work in is. It's riddled with politics and back-biting. My DH works two hours away and his boss is being SO understanding with my pregnancy, allowing him to work from home on days I have any type of appointment - he told them I'm under consultant care because of underlying health issues and THEY can be supportive, why can't my employers? :(

It's making me want to look for another job on the sly.

hanflan · 30/06/2014 15:30

I thought it was in most maternity policies that they have to give you time off for any antenatal appts? Whenever they may be! Check in your maternity policy and shove it in their face if they give you any more grief about it. I am so angry for you!

freneticfox · 30/06/2014 15:34

There's nothing in my contract about sickness relating to pregnancy but it says I'm entitled to antenatal appointments, so I may well just remind them of that. They were fine until I reminded them that it's not a scan I have tomorrow, but a consultant appointment. Then they got shirty.

lindamagoo · 30/06/2014 15:36

Fox I think you should defo look into exactly what your rights are, your work sound like total idiots Angry Angry Angry

hanflan · 30/06/2014 15:38

Your consultant appt counts as an antenatal appt! Wish I could come and punch someone for you haha.

freneticfox · 30/06/2014 15:41

My Mum is seething. She lives a couple of hours away and she's about ready to grab a broom and fly up here to give them what for. It's good to know I have the law on my side, it really is. When I'm not pregnant, I'm a f*cking hard working person that often puts in extra hours and picks up other people's slack and I never complain.

PolytheneGirl · 30/06/2014 15:45

Fox visit this link ACAS maternity rights

freneticfox · 30/06/2014 15:49

Thanks Poly, time to swot up I think x

MademoiselleG · 30/06/2014 15:50

Fox that sounds really, really crap and upsetting.

We are still waiting. They just scanned me but baby is in the wrong position so I have to go for a walk and come back...

Threnody · 30/06/2014 15:50

fox you are legally entitled to time off for antenatal appointments - check www.babycentre.co.uk/a537568/your-maternity-rights I am also cross on your behalf!

freneticfox · 30/06/2014 15:55

The fact my DH's work are being far more compassionate is just riling me all the more. He's been there for almost as long as we've been together (over 10 years) and they've always been really supportive of the fact he has a disabled wife; they're really helping my state of mind at the moment by allowing him to work from home whenever he needs to.

freneticfox · 30/06/2014 16:26

Sorry for double post by OH MY GOD cinnamon bagels are amazing.

PolytheneGirl · 30/06/2014 16:34

I'm so glad my DH is cooking tea. DS has been a full on nightmare for the past 3 day, 24hrs a day. I've had no sleep and haven't had a minutes peace. His nursery teacher thinks it's all to so with "the baby". He's also been crying everyday for a week when I've dropped him off. This is going to be a very long 5 months.

toots123 · 30/06/2014 16:38

Dunno what I'll do if we ever have another baby. Every night for the last week ive came in from work and had a nap
knackered so night night folks haha

barmybunting · 30/06/2014 17:10

I leave you lot in peace for a weekend and you fill another entire thread! I almost lost you there... I am glad to be back, so hello again :)

How is everyone? Glad another Monday is over!
I had my 20 week scan this morning, one happy, healthy baby still growing in there which was lovely to see :). We decided not to find out what it is, but DH is adamant he saw boy bits... I think that was likely to be the cord though! The baby kept turning to show us its face which was very funny. Not a particularly clear picture, but here is babybarmy anyway!

toots123 · 30/06/2014 17:26

Amazing scan barmy!! :) dh is in two minds about finding out. I want to know!

3 days till my 12 week scan. Too excited and nervous
