I am in debenhams 36h nursing bras, they are OK. As soon as boobs settle down I will be buying some Anita underwired nursing bras. They are so much nicer. I seem to remember engorgement and leakage being less of an issue by about 12 weeks. Bravado ++ bra is quite good for ginormabooby but it is still in the monoboob category. I think elomi are also supposed to be good for big boobs. If you are crafty there are instructions online for converting normal bras.

What is up with my crazy double posting tablet?

FrankelandFilly · 15/08/2014 19:07

Hello Hags, sorry for the absence. Had some bad news this morning, HWHNN's grandpa died last night. He was 95 and to be honest it was expected: he had a fall and broke his hip a few weeks ago and the Drs warned HWHNN's dad that elderly people often go downhill quickly after such an event. I've spoken to HWHNN and the military compassionate service to see if they will fly him home for the funeral. Turns out they only do such things for immediate family, not grandparents. There is a chance that his bosses will let him come back but it all depends on the date of the funeral and how busy things are on the Camp. The funeral date is complicated by the fact that there needs to be an autopsy because of his recent hospital stay, so it could be a few weeks before it happens.

Sinks you can tell GHJ from me that formula does not = sleeping baby . He's being very unhelpful and unless he is prepared to do all night wakings with a bottle, he can do one.

Euro glad to hear C is thriving & fingers crossed you get an offer on your house soon.

We're doing ok, apart from the above. I'm starting to think about weaning E which is a very scary thought!

FrankelandFilly · 15/08/2014 19:09

I've had that Kat, mine sometimes posts while I'm still writing! I've taken to sometimes writing my posts in Notes and then copying it all across!

ALittleFaith · 15/08/2014 19:18

sinks we had the same argument. He drove me to distraction! I agreed to mix feed at 4 months. I only agreed to one bottle a day initially and still boobed to sleep. It did help, Faithlet went to sleep faster but it wasn't a magic bullet. Trickier if they won't take a bottle though! Have you tried a doidy cup?

SinkyMalinks · 15/08/2014 20:31

Thanks all for agreeing GHJ is being a knob jockey. Faife, tbf, I've not pushed a bottle (it was heartbreaking to see expressed milk go to waste!). I've bought some premade formula today. I'll see how we go. I might be happier offering a bottle if I don't stress over wastage... He has a sippy cup he likes to pour everywhere. Not tried a doidy cup yet.

I know formula isn't magic frank. Sadly GHJ and inlaws appear to disagree. Sigh. And sods law, R probably will sleep through with formula. And make my mil's fucking year. Angry

SinkyMalinks · 15/08/2014 20:36

Oh frank, sorry, v self absorbed there. Sorry to hear about HWHNN's granddad. V sad. I hope he was comfortable though.

Oh I missed that Frank, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope he's able to get back as I'm sure he'd like to say his goodbyes.

Sinks Faithlet was never keen on expressed milk. I did get some smug satisfaction the first time she had formula after me being pushed. She puked it up everywhere! She was ok with a different make of formula but it did make me laugh behind closed doors.

Surely it's obvious that pregnancy is worrying?! It's one of the most dangerous things you can do, for a start. And involves YOUR BABY, which is always going to be worrying. He's a fool.

news here: the calf has slept in her crib tonight! Not as long without waking as when she's in our bed, but so much better for us. Hopefully it won't take her long to extend her sleep time to her usual cosleeping hours...

for bra advice, everyone. I'll have to have a try on session in John Lewis and see how we go.

Fankletastic · 16/08/2014 07:45

Meant to check in yesterday to say that Fanklet is fine. Although he/she was either uncooperative, shy or asleep and facing my spine so there was no chance of getting all the heart measurements. Baby wouldn't move even after 25 mins so I've been told I'll get another appointment through for an extra scan.

Is that quite normal? Or should I be worried? The sonographer told me everything looked normal and fine but she didn't give me much detail. And she told a pretty crappy, blurred photo which is a bit shit tbh. The pic at 12 weeks is better!

So I guess I am feeling relieved but not quite on that post scan high. Any advice or tips for getting baby to be more active prior to a scan??

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Fankletastic · 16/08/2014 07:57

Sorry Frank totally missed the post about HWNN's grandad. So sorry to hear that and hope he does get some leave for the funeral. Sad times.

The ESH menfolk are sounding like they need a sound taking to. Either that or a slap round the ears.

Congrats fankle! Don't worry, it's really common to have a quiet/stubborn baby - R was always in the same position (head down, side on) but we got our measurements.

You get an extra scan. Whoop! And chocolate. And coffee would be my advice...

Oh, and my 20 week scan photo was rubbish too. Baby's just to big to get a good shot of. I got a weird side on profile/ear and blob hand I think.

ALittleFaith · 16/08/2014 10:16

Faithlet was a monkey at all her scans! First scan, sitting on her bum so they couldn't measure her. Repeated 12 week scan, upside down and curled round the placenta. 20 week scan, legs crossed and in the air! I second sugary caffeine to increase movement. Glad to hear it was positive :)

TheOriginalWinkly · 16/08/2014 11:47

frank sorry about your news Flowers Any word on whether HWHNN will be getting home?

fankle pleased to hear the scan went well. We had trouble getting measurements for the opposite reason - the baby just wouldn't stay still for a second, and she
still won't, so maybe you're just getting a lovely calm baybee?

On that note - why the fuck won't she sleep???? AT ALL??? Not for more than a minute, she's been up for 4 hours and didn't sleep well in the night and she's 6 weeks old, she needs to sleep. She won't sleep on me, next to me, in her crib or in her swing. If she drifts off she wakes up seconds later. All I want is for her to sleep for 10 minutes so I can shower. Argh!

winks, I remember staring at The Baby Book, where it said newborns slept 19-23 hrs (or something), then looking at (non napping, non sleeping) R.

It's a bit better now.

katandkits · 16/08/2014 13:29

Winks, will she go to sleep if you take her for a drive? If you are lucky you might get her in the house asleep in her car seat while you shower? You have my sympathy, mine is being a monkey too.
